I asked for this ages ago.. not just for gay parents, but for families, those worried about kids etc..

My mum is gay, has been with her partner for 11 years, got married last year..

I'm very lucky to have 2 wonderful mums!!!

PinkTulips · 31/01/2007 11:28

ahhhh, hadn't even thought of extended family.... silly me!

DimpledThighs · 31/01/2007 13:16

maybe it will attract other families that may have not thought of mumsnet as catering for them.

all good.

PinkTulips · 31/01/2007 13:20

I hope so DT... i'll bet there's a few lurkers who don't have the courage to post as they don't think there's any others like them on MN

Iklboo · 31/01/2007 13:21

Yay for mumsnet - although I would hope that gay parents wouldn't feel 'segregated' in MN anyway.

jenwa · 31/01/2007 13:39

My Sis gay and her and partner would love to adopt and will be finding out about it soon.

Will recommend MN to them as lots of advice etc.

Really hope they can adopt as they are fab with my dd and have loads of love to give and they are both very outgoing (walks, arts, etc)and do lots of art activities. Sad to think they would not be allowed as so many people who do have kids and dont do anything with them and dont care for them properly. Whoever they adopt will be very lucky.

Good new topic, agree with Iklboo
Might send a friend a link to this.

jenwa · 31/01/2007 13:46

Anyone got advice on gay adoption? I know its all been in the news and alot of people disagree with it.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 31/01/2007 13:48

OH excellent!

hippmummy · 31/01/2007 13:49

How weird...
I was just thinking this week 'I wonder why there's no gay section on MN'

Psychic, I am

jenwa · 31/01/2007 14:11

bumping as good thread

geordiemacminx · 31/01/2007 14:14

Think bumping is only necessary if there is more than one converstaion..

jenwa · 31/01/2007 14:33

Ok just thought it kept it in subjest box, sorry!

PinkTulips · 31/01/2007 14:34

she means bumping in active convos geordie... more than one convo there!

OP posts:
madamez · 31/01/2007 14:35

Glad to see this here. Being gay doesn't mean you can't be an excellent parent.

geordiemacminx · 31/01/2007 14:38

Sorry - didnt mean that in the horrible way that it sounded... I dont use the active convo box... so I'll shut the fcuk up.. as I dont know what I'm talking about

Yes, my mum and her dw did a fine job of bringing me and my sister up, and are now expecting their first grandchild which they are over the moon about!!

jenwa · 31/01/2007 14:42

No worries, I dont know what I'm talking about either really! Usually go in to last 15min and see whats going on and like this its a good topic so just thought keep it active as seen few people bump things (was my first pbump and think may have done it wrong!, whoops)

americantrish · 31/01/2007 15:57

i'm not gay... but i think this is a great new addition to MN!

Whoooosh · 31/01/2007 16:07

frumpygrumpy · 31/01/2007 18:41

Welcome to this thread! Bumping.

I've stuck the kettle on, opened wine, hoovered and have hula hoops Think we've scared everyone off

frumpygrumpy · 31/01/2007 18:42

Not gay either but happy we have this.

itsmeNDP · 31/01/2007 18:45

There are a few other gay mums on MN, Juno, of course (Dot's DW), Hester, ummm, there are a couple of others too (I think).

weeonion · 31/01/2007 21:17

great to see this thread do quite a bit of work with gay men and whilst i dont expect to see many of them on here - will be letting local lgbt groups know!

morningpaper · 31/01/2007 21:19

I thought this was "gray parents"

which would also be v. appropriate

Dottydot · 31/01/2007 21:27

How bizarre, is my first thought.
