Verifying ID for companies house

Apologies if this is the wrong section, not sure where best to post this.

Has anyone done this without a valid passport? I don't have a driving license so can't do it that way. I tried with my expired passport, suggested by our accountant, but that didn't do it and now I am in an endless cycle trying to get back in to try a bank account and see if I can do it that way.

What about applying for voter photo id? You can apply if you don’t have a valid passport or driving license so you fit the criteria. Maybe check that is acceptable for your needs.

There's a thread about it here with people's varying experiences. I did it using my driving license so can't really comment, but I believe you can get help at the Post Office too?

Having just had to do it for both parents and me, you have my utmost sympathy as, like all government systems its a minefield. I ended up paying our accountant to do it because it just wouldn't work for my father's information.

I'll try again later and see if I can do it via my personal bank account. I tried with our joint one but my account has my name as my initials but it asked for full name so they didn't tally up.

If I have no luck later I might have to renew my passport using a fast track as mine needs to be done by the 14th of this month

Can you use a provisional driving license? One of my children has just applied for one and it came in a week. Might be worth investigating?

@SaffyWall good shout. Just applied for one but it does say a form will come in the post for me to give more details so it might be tight, time wise. Tomorrow my dh is speaking to someone at our accountants who deals with all this and hopefully she can help

Just an update. I finally got my provisional license through last Thursday, my second extension was until the Sunday, but was still having issues being able to log in and submit my ID. My dh had a go that evening, and after almost giving up, he decided to try a different email address that I used to use, and bang, we were in. ID all uploaded and finally got my precious code. It appears, somewhere hidden on the government website when we originally created our accounts way back when, we used this other email address, but of course it didn't want to tell us that. Just ridiculous, and the amount of stress trying to get it all sorted so we didn't get any penalties.
So, should someone else have issues and come across my post, check you are using the right email address, just in case.
