Foolishly, I have been caught speeding for the second time in a year. This will only be my second offence. Anyone know what will be the likely outcome?

Don’t think it was ever the case you could speed all over the country and keep doing SAWS. It’s correct that it’s a central booking system. Your details will be on their showing previous courses attended. You can only do one every three years x

You could do one per police force every 3 years. So get caught by Surrey, Hampshire and Dorset for example in the same year and you could do them all as a speed awareness course. There was no joined up system in those days. It was administered by each individual police force. But get caught twice in Hampshire in less than 3 years then you would get points and fine second time round.

Well now it’s all on the NDORS system so you wouldn’t be able to x

Hey, I too have been a bit silly, I've been caught speeding twice in 2 months. I was over the limit both times of 5-8mph. I have been offered a speed awareness course for my first offence and have just received the letter for the second offence both were in different parts of the country. Does anyone know what the penalty for this could be? I've been looking all over Google etc and getting quite freaked about being banned from driving!

Thanks in advance ☺️

Biggaybear · 01/09/2024 01:18

You wont get banned.

Just 3 points and a fine (£100 ?)

You generally only get banned if you get 12 points on your licence (totting up) or you get caught doing an excessive speed (usually 100mph+)

So chill & relax.

Hello i have been caught by speeding camera it was 30 mph i have done 38 mph
and 1 year ago i have already made an speeding course so what is now going to happen?😥could you please advise me

LIZS · 29/10/2024 20:59

Points and a fine. You won't be offered another course until the first is over three years ago and even then, unlikely for 38 in 30.

My insurance went up threefold when I got three points.

Good!

There’s always at least one 🙄

Make that 2. When you've had a close family member killed by a speeding driver, you might feel the same way!
