I'm due in court tomorrow for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

It happened six months ago and I'm pleading guilty so no trial etc.

No previous and I'm a person "of good character". But my goodness I'm bloody petrified.

I probably won't sleep tonight and I'll I keep thinking about is my dd.

I'm glad you didn't get custodial. If I was you I would get the UPW done as soon as you can. 200 hours is a lot and I used to get people drag it on forever - if they will let you do extra days do it and get it over with - tag off in 3 months and then it's mostly behind you.

LizzieSiddal · 02/05/2019 13:16

So pleased you're not in prison OP!x

WienerDiva · 02/05/2019 13:21

@Greyhound22 my plan is going to try and do it in the 3 months I'm on tag. The lady I spoke to today said that shouldn't be an issue

Phew!

I don’t think incarnating you would demonstrate good value for money for the taxpayer at all!

Consider doing the Freedom Programme so that you are better equipped to recognise/avoid shitty men in the future...

I'm glad for you and your child that you were not sent to prison. Do go ahead with the freedom programme. I've heard good things about it.

DogHairEverywhere · 02/05/2019 14:07

Yay! Glad for you that you're not in prison tonight.

zen1 · 02/05/2019 14:09

Just caught up with this. Really pleased you can go home and be with your daughter OP. Hopefully, the three months will go quickly for you.

EllieBow · 02/05/2019 14:11

I'm glad you didn't get a prison sentence. I was worried you would get one, as I know someone who was sentenced to 2 years for perverting the course of justice. Which I thought was really harsh. His family were devastated and appeared to not be expecting it as he had several letters including one from an employer all in support of him.

He was the passenger in a car which killed a close family member in a hit and run. The driver got 8 years. To be honest I didn't want either of them to go to prison. Yes, they made a mistake but I didn't see how prison would help. Nothing will bring back my family member, lots of lives ruined that day and I actually think something like community work would have brought more good from the situation than prison.

nauticant · 02/05/2019 14:12

As far as I can see this is how the criminal justice system is supposed to work. Punish people who do wrong but, where possible, divert those who have taken responsibility and are remorseful away from prison.

From what you've written OP it sounds like some good can come from this for you. It's good news to hear you're not going to prison.

MsMarvellous · 02/05/2019 14:35

I'm so pleased to hear that you aren't in custody. A good outcome. Thanks

BayandBlonde · 02/05/2019 14:40

With regards to your 200 hours, because of your good character and non threat to the public you may be able to choose your placement.

If so, choose one you think you will settle at, build a good rapport with the probation officer and the person overseeing you. In some cases depending on the placement you can sometimes 'work overtime' to clear the hours faster

TipseyTorvey · 02/05/2019 14:50

Very relieved for you and your daughter Diva. Have a well deserved glass of wine and a really good night's sleep!

NorthernRunner · 02/05/2019 14:53

This is good news in the circumstances OP, for you and your DD.
All the best!

Bishalisha · 02/05/2019 15:20

mummyhaschangedhername · 02/05/2019 15:54

WienerDiva · 02/05/2019 16:45

Sorry was asleep for ages.

Thank you once again for the messages of support.

@Bishalisha no it shouldn't do.

I'm in the process of qualifying as a beauty therapist, I'll set up my own salon in my parents' home.

I'm glad you didn't go to prison.

Sorry it's a harsh punishment still (or so it seems) but I'm glad it seems to have made you stronger. Your dd is lucky to have a mum who will be open and honest Thanks

Expressedways · 02/05/2019 17:00

I’m so pleased you’re at home with your DD tonight. Best of luck for the future and with starting your business!

InceyWinceyette · 02/05/2019 17:27

“She says she feels she did cause it”

The person who hurt the police officer is the person who hurt the police officer. That person caused it.

Fair enough, he was enabled by the OP’s actions but she was pressured, possibly co-erced.
