Adoption, fostering and a bit complex!

zeebrugge · 29/12/2010 18:32

I was adopted as a baby in 1971 and lived with my adopted parents until March 1987 when they were both drowned in the Zeebrugge Ferry disaster. I was put in short term foster care and then long term foster care until I timed out on my 18th birthday.

I was allowed to visit my former home, on the day after the funeral, to collect my belongings but never stayed there again. When my aunt and uncle came back from Denver in 1989 they lived there for a while.

Now I can sort of understand why I wasn't in the will, being adopted rather than a birth child. But as somebody told me over Christmas, and why I am writing, surely I was left something. Did I really matter so little.

Portofino - How b* well dare you accuse me of this!!! I'm attacking not defending.

If you have any objective evidence to back up your claims against these other alleged trolls PM me with it. I bet there isn't any just the same as there is zilch, zero, none against the OP on this thread. At least none you have ever shared and none acceptable to HQ.

Penandink · 10/02/2012 10:44

Same with Maryz. You duck and dive and claim the moral high ground but when asked for proof acceptable to HQ you lot turn on the abuse and turn off your listening ears

Artex - No I didn't. ""The local writers group of which I am a mere humble functionary introduced members to Mumsnet to encourage flash fiction entries in the annual competition. It was some time before I even realised that the messages I was reading were supposed to be genuine."

We were shown Mumsnet as examples of flash fiction. We certainly didn't post anything to Mumsnet as far as I know.

Penandink · 10/02/2012 11:16

"It is totally unacceptable, but you are defending it by saying that it is a place for members of writing groups to try out their fiction.

No I didn't defend it. I said it was bound to happen and that I was surprised that more people didn't realise that much/most of the Relationship material was probably fiction.

Why not just start a thread saying " Right then everyone - 99% of this is made up or published by writing groups for their own amusement. Therefore, we can agree it is all bollocks - and there is no need for anyone to get upset about any of the content, or accuse people of being trolls, because it is all made up anyway."

Because that is what you are saying, isn't it? I dare you! I'd love to see how far you get.

Portofino · 10/02/2012 11:37

Rather than hiding your views here in this little unvisited corner.....

Penandink · 10/02/2012 12:08

I'm back Sat AM.

I've noticed, as others doubtless have, that the misquoting and misrepresenting my comments (luckily mine have not yet been deleted) is increasing but the proof of the claims the troll hunters made is still totally lacking.

But yes - if there are in house systems to deal with a particular problem that other site users chose to ignore then I do think it is wrong. Try the troll hunters approach of blame without proof in the newspapers and see how far you get. There have been some very high profile examples recently that cost serious money.

I don't understand this peculiar assertion that 99% of Mumsnet is thinly disguised fiction. It's completely bonkers. On all the other forums I contribute to (all of which are freely accessible by any member of the public, not closed groups), I have met a significant number of contributors (like, maybe hundreds of people in total) and they've all turned out to be telling the truth about themselves. Why should Mumsnet be any different? I admit I have only met a few Mumsnetters in real life but it would be odd if I'd hit on the only few who are telling the truth quite by accident.

I don't get why this thread is still here. Loads of deletions, yet enough left in to make it clear whats going on and who is being accused of what Hmm

I know LOTS of MNetters in RL - maybe not high profile ones - but we have our Belgian MN FB group now and go out a lot. I have quite a few more on FB. I put up a complete stranger MNetter during the volcanic ash thingy. She is absolutely lovely and exactly who she purports to be on MN - and she has posted about various crap stuff that was going on in her life.

Not sure why my last post was deleted as I just copy/pasted something P&A had written, and again suggested she start her own thread....Hmm
