Anyone here TTC?

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 28/07/2017 16:57

I'm hoping to start TTC baby #4 in August. Is there an existing larger families TTC thread / group, or does anyone else fancy joining me? The groups in the Conception topic don't really seem like a good fit ...

I'm 34
3 children (4, 7 & 8)
3 miscarriages before child #1

I've had three big late babies. 1 and 3 were induced at 42wks each labour was shorter and easier though

1 was 13hrs and 8lb12
2 was 6hrs just under 9lb
3 was 2hrs 9lb10

I am considering home or maternity unit for #4 though I've torn badly with the others so perhaps that's a bad idea. Definitely would like a water birth too.

I have nothing apart from my pram it was the only thing I couldn't bear to part with.

EverythingNow · 19/08/2017 17:46

I have 3 girls. I'd love a boy because I don't have one if that makes sense but would just like any!

Annabelle4 · 19/08/2017 18:21

We must make a post of our ages and what we have, and copy and paste and add. It's hard to keep up with everyone.

I think I'd prefer a girl simply because DH and ds have such an incredible bond (ds prefers DH to me, I genuinely am ok with that as I know he loves me too) and I'd be afraid another boy might throw ds or threaten that (in his mind). I'm sure a brother would be lovely for him too though, especially when they're older.

Still no sign of AF but it's probably not due until tomorrow. I probably OV'd a day or 2 later than I thought so stopped DTD a bit too soon looking back on it now. I had ewcm on the Thursday, a + opk on the Friday, so assumed I was ovulating on the Saturday. I don't believe for a second I'm pregnant though as I got bfn's on the 6 day early FR.

I have loads of baby stuff left but it's probably gone a bit rough now. Dd2 is 8 and even some of it was hers.

Schnitzel, how are you feeling? Hope you're recovering well.

Still a bit sedated from tooth extraction but so nice to read all the posts. Teeth are killing me and half my face is swollen.

So I got my period today...I'm afraid to admit that I never track my period I know it's every 4 weeks but I never know when it last was Blush. I've marked it down, I've never gone by knowing when I ovulate either. I've just had sex and waited for it to happen. I'm sounding quite naive. I must be the only person who has never taken a pregnancy test early, it's usually around the 6 week mark Confused
Feel like I have so much to learn!

EverythingNow · 20/08/2017 19:50

Looks like there's a few of us just starting a new cycle, any news @annabelle?

Annabelle4 · 20/08/2017 19:55

No news. I think maybe I ovulated late though Sad

Way tmi (sorry)

But maybe the EWCM was another bodily fluid, belonging to my dh...

The opk line was dark, but not as dark as the pictures I've seen on here. It wasn't darker than the control line, just equal to, but that took a few mins to develop. Can you tell that I've been over thinking this all day Confused

I'll have to go and buy yet another test in the morning! The last time I tested was Friday and it was a bfn.

I'll be so disappointed now if it's a bfn. Can't help but feel hopeful.

Good luck to you both on this cycle. Xx

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 20/08/2017 22:02

Fingers crossed Annabelle! x

Annabelle4 · 21/08/2017 10:38

Thanks ladies, but it's a bfn. Must be just a long cycle, and so frustrating as there is no chance of a bfp now as we stopped dtd thinking I had ovulated.

Will report back when AF arrives.

Schnitzel I hope the 2ww passes quickly for you.

Mumof3cheeky · 21/08/2017 12:13

Hi everyone I'm back and I'm super excited as we have finally decided to go for it and try for number 4
Smile I'm on cd16 and as dp and I'm generally a late ovulator I think it's happening in the next day or so as dp is away from today we dtd yesterday and i think that's all we can do this month so I'm essentially on my 2ww Smile
I'm 36
Ds3
Ds5
Ds7
All soon to have their bd tho
Look forward to sharing the experience with you all Smile

Mumof3cheeky · 21/08/2017 12:14

Just to clarify dp is not a late ovulator Grin

EverythingNow · 21/08/2017 17:06

Boo for bfns @Annabelle. How frustrating!

I've been online and ordered some more opks as AF was early. I'm hoping I'll ov early before the camping trip!!

EverythingNow · 21/08/2017 17:07

Fingers crossed @mumof3cheeky

Annabelle4 · 21/08/2017 17:48

I laughed about your dp being a late ovulator mumof3cheeky.

My AF arrived today. I'm actually relieved at being put out of my misery, and not having to squint and tilt tests (until next month) Wink

BrutusMcDogface · 21/08/2017 18:13

Ah, onwards and upwards, Annabelle! Good luck for this cycle!

Welcome back mumof3- we have the same stats!!

Had a day out with friend today, and she implied I'd be absolutely out of my mind to conceive again, and it got me thinking a) is she right?! (Probably!) and b) what kind of response we'd get from family and friends if we did.

Mumof3cheeky · 21/08/2017 20:22

Thanks Brutus!!
My exact thoughts! I won't be telling anyone that we are trying for dc4.
I have discussed it with best friend and despite of her only having 2 she is very supportive (or thinking rather you than me Grin)
I wouldn't and won't tell my mum who btw doesn't live in this country.
She suffers with anxiety and also would just be worried and couldn't be the support I need. That's not to say she wouldn't be over the moon if we had another baby but I think she would think we are taking on too much especially that dp works away a lot so I will just wait until after the 12 week scan to tell her like I did with the others.
I did talk about it to a mum friend at school before summer holidays that I feel very broody and jokingly she was in shock and how she couldn't imagine having babies again and was treating me like a bit of a freak and how great it will be watch how it all goes.
I think it is difficult as I guess all of us are in our little bubble with husbands and partners chatting about how lovely it would be and for other people ( who I must say mostly have 2 children) is a huge shock and I think they just can't understand how we would want to do this to ourselves.
So for these reasons although I feel a lot more confident in our decision now that we have finally committed to it, I know I would feel discouraged and question myself so I won't be discussing it with anyone else until we have news and had scans etc
Apart from you lovelies who are going through exactly the same and know won't judge me Smile

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 22/08/2017 19:51

Hi again @Mumof3cheeky !
Sorry AF found you Annabelle Flowers
Good news that fertile week might precede the camping expedition Everything !
Waves to Brutus and Broody.

As for me, I almost hope that this cycle hasn't worked because I've been taking so many pain meds - I have a huge black/yellowish bruise on my jaw and look like a boxer ... apparently removing the impacted tooth was part dentistry, part carpentry Grin I'm 5dpo today and absolutely no unusual symptoms whatsoever (apart from my sore face, and I can't attribute that to pregnancy).

Since we are all in our thirties, you might find this blog post interesting about fertility rates during one's thirties. I thought it was very sensible compared to the scaremongering we get in the media about having babies 'later on' in life. I particularly liked the section where it discussed fertility for those with, and without, previous births:
expectingscience.com/2015/02/27/7-things-to-know-about-fertility-in-your-late-30s/
If anyone reads it, let me know what you think! I'm an academic so I love stats but I accept that other people might not...

Which leads me to the question to everyone - if you feel comfortable sharing, do you work / did you work and what job do/did you do?

Thanks @schnitzel. I've had a read through but I'll admit I don't really understand it all Blush

Is it saying it's better to dtd before ov if you're older?

The linked article about the impact on fecundity (?) of having previous children also interesting and heartening.
