Anyone here TTC?

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 28/07/2017 16:57

I'm hoping to start TTC baby #4 in August. Is there an existing larger families TTC thread / group, or does anyone else fancy joining me? The groups in the Conception topic don't really seem like a good fit ...

I'm 34
3 children (4, 7 & 8)
3 miscarriages before child #1

Yes, we are camping in a tent with the kids pretty much all of my fertile window next month so not too hopeful that we will even dtd!!

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 17/08/2017 11:15

Sorry about the BFNs Everything and Annabelle (I have gone ahead and abbreviated your names; please do abbreviate mine as it's really long too!).

Welcome @BrutusDogface !

Cheap and CB OPK positive again this morning. DTD accomplished last night and we meant to go again this morning but sleep was the priority. Hopefully again tonight when DH home from work (around 9.30pm as he does a late surgery on Thursdays). I get really pronounced ovulation pain as well which has always happened the day before my temp rise, so hoping I get the pain on Friday as that would mean that ovulation would be done with prior to the dental work. NOT looking forward to the extraction!

Everything, that sounds really very tricky re: fertile window falling during your holidays in a family tent! Are your kids heavy sleepers? Even if they are I can imagine it would be pretty stressful and not ideal to try ... Re: your chemical pg last spring, it can really dent your confidence in your body however much you know that logically they're very common... when it's happened once, it feels like nothing is a sure thing any more. xx

Annabelle, I'm sort of relieved to hear that I'm not the only one to be thinking (and worrying) several steps ahead. Like you, I think that the harmony test is pretty essential. I have already got a mental list of everything I need to do if I get a bfp (start progesterone, start low dose aspirin, try to get HCG blood tests through GP) mainly because I had this plan in place for my successful pregnancies and I'm terrified that without it, I am guaranteed to miscarry (I know that this is not logical, particularly re: the HCG test, but it has been my first indication that something is wrong on 2 occasions in the past). Concerned that the GP won't let me stick to the plan precisely because I've had successful pregnancies though!

Hoping that your FRER shows you a surprise tomorrow ... and please, complain away if this cycle doesn't work. I think we all know where you are coming from and will join you in commiserations and virtual Wine!!

Evening all! How's everyone's day been. I had a speck of blood earlier when I wiped, which is probably along with the cramps yesterday/last night the start of an early af.

BroodyMoody · 17/08/2017 18:04

Can I join please? 32 with 3 children 10,7,4 and I think I'm finally convincing husband that we could manage another Wink.
I think I'm looking at after Christmas to start trying but can't help get ahead of myself and start looking at prams Blush please tell me I'm not alone.

EverythingNow · 18/08/2017 08:50

Welcome #broodymoody Smile you are not alone... although I've kept my pram from dd2 so shall use that if I'm lucky. Lovely to look and imagine though, I've been looking at cloth nappies as plan to use them this time.

I'm out of tests and away from home, no more spotting yet since yesterday, it was just a tiny dot that you'd miss if you weren't on the look out but I've had it before and AF has arrived. I have more at home so might test Sunday AF not here early, I'm not going to buy anymore as I think she's on her way.

Any news @Annabelle?

Annabelle4 · 18/08/2017 09:01

Hi EverythingNow. Maybe it was implantation spotting you had? Hopefully. I did my last IC strip this morning and bfn. AF due tomorrow or Sunday I think. Funnily enough I have no PMS though, and I usually get cramps, sore boobs, and spots. Maybe it will just arrive without symptoms Sad
I did the daftest thing ever last night (please somebody tell me that you've done it before) Blush I took my other First Response test and it was a bfn, but I opened it up just to see the strip so that I wouldn't have to tilt to look through the plastic. It was a bfn but about 5 minutes later a faint pinkish line was there. Of course I thought it was a faint bfp, but I spent ages last night googling and it's negative - it's some chemical reaction when air hits the strip and there were lots of stories and posts with the same experience 😭

So much for not getting obsessed!

Welcome BroodyMoody. I'm not sure if I'd recommend putting it off too long if you're 100% sure, I regret now not going for it a few months ago.

Schnitzel, I hope you've ovulated by now and the 2ww flys by for you X

EverythingNow · 18/08/2017 09:08

@Annabelle I've done that too! It's easily done. You just want to double check. It's like when you hide it in the back of your drawer and go back to it later and there is an evap!

I'd love it to be IB but ive had this happen a few times on a non ttc cycle.

Annabelle4 · 18/08/2017 09:35

Glad to see I'm not the only crazy one!!

BroodyMoody · 18/08/2017 12:32

Thanks all for the warm welcome! The reason for delaying is I have to take high dose folic acid as I had a pregnancy before which ended at 16wks which had anencephaly. So I need to make sure I have been taking the folic acid for three months prior to falling pregnant.
I've got a buggy and a pram up the attic, but I really want a Kensington Blush. Completely impractical but I had a coachbuilt on every other baby.

Good luck to every one at the testing stage!

BrutusMcDogface · 18/08/2017 14:05

Thanks for the warm welcomes, too! 😊

I've just seen on fb that Wayne and Colleen Rooney are having a fourth....

BrutusMcDogface · 18/08/2017 14:07

I think my dp is up for it, despite saying he wasn't....he made the first gp appointment re: the snip a while back, but hasn't made any more effort with actually calling the clinic and going through with it....

BroodyMoody · 18/08/2017 14:57

Would it be crazy (yes it would I know but just go along with me) to start making a blanket Confused

EverythingNow · 18/08/2017 15:59

Not at all @broodymoody.

I'm feeling really deflated today. Like you said before @Annabelle I'm glad we have each other on this thread to chat about this. I think it's a touch of PMS,last day of holiday blues and I guess I'm just worried that it's taken so long for dh to come round that perhaps at 38 it's too late and I was secretly hoping it would happen quick before he changes his mind! I know I'm being silly.

BroodyMoody · 18/08/2017 19:21

What age are you classed as an older mother? I was in my 20s when I had my youngest.

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 19/08/2017 08:32

Welcome @BroodyMoody and waves to everyone else. So sorry about the bfns.

On the way to dental hospital for wisdom tooth removal Sad at least I'm doing this on 2dpo not ovulation day!

Hope you all have a good weekend and will do proper personals layer xxx

Good luck @schnitzel! Hope it goes ok!

I'm out. AF turned up heavy and 2 days early this morning - which was lovely to wake up to on the last day of holiday.

Good luck if you're testing today @Annabelle

Annabelle4 · 19/08/2017 09:29

Sorry AF arrived EverythingNow. Hope this is the month for you.
Mine is due today or tomorrow, probably tomorrow actually. I'm out of tests, used them all and will only buy. FR if no AF by Monday.

Thinking of you Schnitzel and sending you Flowers

BroodyMoody · 19/08/2017 10:36

Sorry af arrived. But this next month could be it for you.

What births did you all have previous? First was 3 hours from first contraction, 4 pushes and baby was here 8lb 1oz 4 days late. I ended up with a ruptured retained placenta. I only had gas and air for the birth and theatre was full so I had to have a removal in the delivery room. 2 hours it was awful. But no stitches luckily, but a transfusion.
Second 12hours start to finish 9lb 5oz 3 days over just gas and air no stitches.
Third emergency csection 2 weeks early 10lb 7oz.

Really wouldn't want another section. They gave me an injection of diamorphine (sp?). Despite me saying I didn't want one. I was so sick it took from baby being born early hours to midday for it to stop when the anaesthetist gave me an injection. I couldn't even hold the baby and I've never been so thirsty in my life but I wasn't allowed a drink.

Annabelle4 · 19/08/2017 10:51

BroodyMoody you poor thing, you had a hard time.
I had vaginal delivery on DD1 (longish but fine, 1 stitch. Chickened out half way through and asked for epidural, even though I was copying fine. Was very young and just scared though)
DD2 emergency Caesarian .I didn't like it either. Found the pain and recovery awful, and also felt sick after it. Looking back I'm not sure I was given or taking the correct amount of pain relief as lots of people have said they flew through recovery and felt little pain. I also remember that thirst! And was so jealous of the other mums who got their tea and toast. I really wanted to breastfeed too but that didn't happen (she had tongue tie and I was too sick and sore to hold her for long) so I spent ages beating myself up about all of it Sad
DS was lovely - VBAC, very quick, didn't even use the gas and air. No tear. He was over 8 pounds which was my biggest, and I'm tiny myself. Yours were whoppers!!
Had read up a lot on natural birth by then and was so keen to avoid another section or intervention. He bf immediately at birth and I fed him until he was a year and a half which was lovely.
Feel like I've experienced every type of birth there is! Confused

How about the rest of you? I love birth stories and love watching One Born Every Minute.

BroodyMoody · 19/08/2017 11:31

I'm so glad to hear you had a successful vbac because I want to avoid a section at all costs. But I had far too much water so it couldn't be avoided in the end. I'm only 5ft 2 and small. I too don't think I asked for enough pain relief. But I had such an awful time I just wanted out. I went home late that afternoon.

I love obem especially the first few series. I don't have anything though apart from the buggy and pram and I really want a new one Blush.

BrutusMcDogface · 19/08/2017 12:09

I've been really lucky with three straightforward (ish) labours and deliveries. Tempting fate going for a fourth? 🤔

Cd1 was yesterday 😊

BrutusMcDogface · 19/08/2017 12:10

Good luck, Annabelle! Hope af doesn't show!

Annabelle4 · 19/08/2017 12:22

Thank you BrutusMcDogface and good luck to you!

Feeling cramps now so guess AF is on the way.

BrutusMcDogface · 19/08/2017 17:01

Ah, it ain't over til it's over, as they say! I felt strongly that I was going to come on any minute each time I conceived Smile

I've got two girls and a boy, and have just found myself googling how to improve chances of conceiving a boy!! I think my poor son would move out if he got another sister!

BroodyMoody · 19/08/2017 17:41

I've got 2boys and a girl, my girl is my middle child and she would hate a sister. But I would love another girl to be able to name her after my nan.
