Anyone watching? Any thoughts? I quite liked Switzerland!

I've watched snippets as dd is obsessed. Still wondering wth the Irish one was all about 😂

Just saw Israel, loved it, loved her ❤️

Norway...umm 😱

Humdingerydoo · 09/05/2024 22:13

Eden Golan made it through!!! Woop! Bet there are riots on the streets of Malmö tonight 🙈

🥳🥳🥳🥳

The scenes outside her hotel are shameful. I'm so glad she's through. Take that, idiot bullies.

Did you see the Dutch one? 😂

Yes! 😅

Nicehamsandwich · 09/05/2024 22:27

I’m gobsmacked Israel are through. Absolutely amazing. The whole irony of the competition message of being united by music, with one contestant having to be holed up in their hotel room for fear of antisemitic attacks.

Lilacblossom70 · 10/05/2024 09:21

I know, I wasn't expecting them to get through! I think it goes to show that the protesters are loud but less numerous than they seem. I think I read elsewhere on MN (can't remember where now) that 40% of the Italian public vote was for Israel! Don't quote me on that, I was awake in the early hours reading MN and may have imagined it...

Maybe people can see the bullying for what it is and are able to separate it from their views on the war in Gaza.

Comedycook · 10/05/2024 18:22

I am looking forward to watching it tomorrow night.. I'm actually starting to wonder if Israel will win. I know the protesters are loud but I actually think a lot of people quietly support them. It will be interesting.

Hmm, not sure they'll win but I think they might do well! I guess it partially depends on how the performances in front of the jury tonight go. Looking forward to tomorrow night though, assuming my husband lets me watch it. He hates it 😂

I think the protesters are particularly loud because it's in Malmö. That was never going to be a good thing for Israel, or any Jews who might want to attend for that matter. I remember reading about the exodus of Jews from Malmö a few years ago. They had enough of the constant bomb threats and intimidation so loads made aliyah 🙃

Yep! Malmö is Judenrein. Jews have been ethnically cleansed from Malmö. I hope Eden wins or comes top 3. Brave girl!

Humdingerydoo · 11/05/2024 11:35

So much drama 😳

Shame that Joost threatened someone and has been disqualified. I didn't like him and didn't want him to win as it's not a good song, but I enjoyed how very Eurovision it all was!

I hate Eurovision but this year for the first time ever, I’m going to be voting.

Humdingerydoo · 11/05/2024 20:01

Let the shit-show begin!

Genuinely hope Israel don't win, for one thing the conspiracy theories will be unbearable. Won't be voting for her but I hope she does well, she has an amazing voice.

I said the exact same to my husband 🙈 Having only heard Spain's song for the first time today, I hope they win! The crowds absolutely loved it, surely that must count for something?! Not sure I've ever seen them sing along like that before!

Frustratingly, I think her song is great and she's shown so much grace and strength of character. And she looks absolutely incredible! But I just really don't want Israel to win. Usually I want us or France to win but both songs are terrible this year. We've been in the garden so haven't caught many of the others but I popped inside to watch Eden. Think I heard something today about Spain's entry that pissed me off but I can't remember what it was now.

I'm too scared to look at the other threads, but I'm guessing a hard hat is in order?

Oh, yeah, don't go near the other thread. It's not great. Although they've all boycotted Eurovision so there aren't any comments about her actual performance. Just more of the usual stuff, with a bit of "it's her own fault she's being harassed for being there in the first place" thrown in for fun. But I think most realise how absolutely insane that is so that's stopped for now as well.

I don't like the French song as I have no idea what he's saying 😅 But he's got a very powerful voice! And his vocal cords will be nice and relaxed after having given them an unscheduled rest during the dress rehearsals so he might do well?!

22.55ish UK time according to Swedish media

Switzerland’s quite catchy as well.
I thought Israel’s song and Eden’s performance were really powerful and I hope to see them do well.

Switzerland was great, but there was a distinct lack of swinging sparks around like a crazy person. So Finland still has it for me.

@Humdingerydoo it really had everything didn’t it? Go pantless or go home. I didn’t think they could top that and then lo, a be-fireworked pair of denim
hotpants appeared. Amazing.
