Seriously. Is it the same few people just name changing or is it really this toxic in the UK? There is so much poisonous Jewish hatred on here. I'm not talking hatred of Israel, just vile antisemitism on so many posts now.

I truly think I have to step away before I lose faith in humanity. Why does MN seem to attract so many hateful posters? Maybe it's the anonymity.

I can't keep calling it out. Im exhausted and actually deeply disturbed by it now.

merry Christmas to those who celebrate it 🎅

etmoiandme · 24/12/2023 12:12

Good to see someone's come back in time to collect the festive annual!

Whether you're celebrating or not, hope you all have an enjoyable couple of days. x

Pizdietz · 24/12/2023 12:18

Happy holidays, everyone! 💗

Trulywonderful · 24/12/2023 12:54

So how are we doing on the whole Jesus was a Palestinian thing this year?

(Despite the fact it clearly states in the bible about him going to temple to celebrate Hannukah etc)

Or

Oh look Bethelhem Christians are so looked after under Muslim rule.

(Despite the fact 84% of the place was Christian and that has gone down to only 10% because of Islamist ethic cleansing of Christians and Jews since they took over the area)

Trulywonderful · 24/12/2023 12:56

noblegiraffe · 24/12/2023 10:34

Great, you're back! Which means I can wheel this out!

I was so worried you were going to miss out.

Merry Christmas Giraffe

noblegiraffe · 24/12/2023 12:58

If Jesus was a Jew in Jerusalem then that makes him European?

etmoiandme · 24/12/2023 13:03

White too

noblegiraffe · 24/12/2023 13:04

Merry Christmas, Cool Yule, Joyous Midwinter Festival, Happy Holidays to all!

Good to have you around, Truly, I've missed bickering with you.

Pizdietz · 24/12/2023 16:26

So, the moral dilemma is: Do we share the AMA thread with aggressive posters who are unaware of it?

On the one hand: They might learn something useful...

On the other hand: When do they ever learn anything?

Plus it's like giving vandals the key to a friend's house.

Although the OP there does a magnificent job of holding her own 🤩

Trulywonderful · 24/12/2023 16:28

Love this 😂

So true

Pizdietz · 24/12/2023 16:52

It's a real question, though. I don't know whether to point them in that direction or not!

It's such a brilliant thread, with so many insights and clear explanations, but perhaps it's just wasted on those with selective hearing and I'm worried about overloading the OP's generosity of spirit.

I get you

There was a good thread on the feminist board about what happened to women on the 7th October. Also about how other groups were not calling it out etc. I mentioned it on a couple of threads then it started to get more invaders and derailing.

So yes it is a difficult question that I don't think there is an easy answer too

Pizdietz · 24/12/2023 17:12

Ugh, I think I'll just draw a veil over it, on the basis that anyone genuinely seeking enlightenment will actually make the effort to look for it. It's not our job to point them in the right direction, especially as they'll only say the dog ate their homework 🙂

Regarding what happened to women on 7 October, I literally lie awake at nights mithering about it. I try not to, because honestly, what a waste of my privilege as someone living a safe and happy life. Those poor women who died, or are currently enduring a fate worse than death, would give anything to be in my position, and I shouldn't squander it on useless fretting.

I watched a YouTube video where one of the survivors was talking about honouring the dead by keeping alive the memory of each individual as happy and whole. Not letting Hamas overwrite that with their sick demolition of body and soul. I try to do the same, but it's like they've hammered nails into my sense of physical coherence (not sure it this makes sense; I don't know how to put it into words). Making love, I try not to let the image come to me of being raped and having my body parts chopped off and kicked around for fun.

We mustn't let the fuckers rape our souls like this, that's the whole point of terrorism. I'm doing my best to practise mental hygiene...

stomachameleon · 24/12/2023 17:26

@Pizdietz I believe Those posters know it's there but that's not the sort of engagement they are after.
I could give examples but I am on my best behaviour.

stomachameleon · 24/12/2023 17:28

@Trulywonderful that thread always brings me a rye smile in that amongst all the upset and anguish felt by posters some thought it was more important several times to make sure we didn't talk about the left wing, their silence or Jeremy Corbyn.

Pizdietz · 24/12/2023 17:29

I think I missed a treat there. I wasn't on that thread. Sounds "interesting"! 😶

It is always worth having a thread like that to watch some people practice avoidance and derailing tactics. It lets us all get a very clear picture of who we are engaging with on other threads. I mean their is simply no point bothering to engage sensibly with people that still think Jez is anti racist or peace maker. So just wind them up and watch them go for entertainment because you can't change the minds of those sorts of deluded individuals. Plus some very much see what we all see and actually that is why they love him. No talking to people with that much hate inside them, talking to us is how they get their kicks.

To be honest as a thread it wasn't that interesting. It was just a good way to check out people's politics and confirm who was very far left etc

It did have the added bonus of distraction. So I gave it a little post here and there to let other threads with decent conversation go ahead. Some posters were so busy trying to stop a conversation about the very far left of Labour that they were not watching what was happening on other threads 😁

gingergran · 24/12/2023 20:56

I have given up - you can’t argue with stupid!!

25milesfromhome · 24/12/2023 21:13

@gingergran It’s quite difficult to have a conversation with people who don’t even understand the meaning of the words they use. Best to leave them to their intellectual counterparts.

Trulywonderful · 24/12/2023 21:53

We are talking to Wikipedia, a quick Google, Instagram posts and something on Tiktok most the time. Else whatever bat shit crazy thing some other poster has made them believe. So their intellectual counterparts are basically my year 9 students at school and that is only the gullible ones out of those students.

I have to say my students have been so good about the whole conflict this time. In the beginning every day I went in thinking it could get bat shit crazy here and I won't be able to correct anything propaganda wise they are sprouting. However the majority really seem to understand the situation more than most the adults I meet outside of school. Even the ones with strong feelings either way are still being respectful not to put their views onto others and have empathy. I only wish some mumsnetters would be as mature thinking and empathetic as my students

stomachamaleon · 24/12/2023 22:02

@Trulywonderful I second that.

It's hilarious watching them getting their knickers in a twist about the 'list'.
I have seen it mentioned several times.

25milesfromhome · 24/12/2023 22:12

Apparently, Christmas Eve is the perfect time to post an excerpt from an antisemitic blog post on the Conflict board, complete with full on Holocaust inversion, “that” chant, tropes, minimising, all the goodies. Lovely, goady stuff.

stomachamaleon · 24/12/2023 22:29

@25milesfromhome report, report, report.

Trulywonderful · 24/12/2023 23:05

Nothing says Christmas like an antisemitic blog to some it seems

Personally I prefer a mulled wine and a feel good movie but each to their own
