Mumsnet is getting worse

Seriously. Is it the same few people just name changing or is it really this toxic in the UK? There is so much poisonous Jewish hatred on here. I'm not talking hatred of Israel, just vile antisemitism on so many posts now.

I truly think I have to step away before I lose faith in humanity. Why does MN seem to attract so many hateful posters? Maybe it's the anonymity.

I can't keep calling it out. Im exhausted and actually deeply disturbed by it now.

Just slipping some cuteness in here as a little intermission break in the thread.

😍

Stomacharmeleon · 27/11/2023 16:31

That's heartwarming @Trulywonderful

PurpleChrayne · 27/11/2023 20:15

That video is adorable.

Something funny (possibly slightly irreverent) - when my three-year-old DD is reciting the shema, when it comes to "ve dibarta bam" she yells out the "BAM" and has a little giggle 😆

EllaDisenchanted · 27/11/2023 20:54

@PurpleChrayne super cute! Some of mine used to shout the BOM too 😅

SpuytenDuyvil · 27/11/2023 21:28

When I was learning to read Hebrew the "bam" was at the end of the line of text and in my mind, I always shouted, "BAM." Thanks for reminding me of those far ago days.

Humdingerydoo · 29/11/2023 17:43

Anyone else really struggling with the hate today? Just logged on this evening and saw the post about Kfir, and the comments blaming Israel. I can't cope with it today. It's just too much

Stomacharmeleon · 29/11/2023 18:27

@Humdingerydoo I think that's particularly low.

noblegiraffe · 29/11/2023 18:29

It feels like it has stepped up since the march, since the hostages started being released? I don't know, I'm on barely any of the threads but that's the impression I've had.

Humdingerydoo · 29/11/2023 18:35

It really is incredibly low. Yet we get accused of whataboutery all the time.

I think you might be right, @noblegiraffe . I think the language changed a lot after hostages started being released. They started calling all the Palestinian prisoners hostages too. Any word or phrase we use, they turn it around and use it against us. It's exhausting. I just can't be bothered with it today. They're becoming so much more obvious, so much more emboldened of late.

Stomacharmeleon · 29/11/2023 18:39

I wish Mumsnet would do more. I have asked them to step in on that thread.

noblegiraffe · 29/11/2023 18:48

I think the language changed a lot after hostages started being released.

It also kicked off all the 'don't the hostages look well, Hamas aren't that bad actually, are they?'

I'm finding that particularly difficult to read.

Thank you. I am quite new to Mumsnet so don't really know what the done thing is, what can be reported etc.

And now the thread about holocaust survivors and how their opinions matter more than everyone else's (but obviously only if they agree with the posters). 900 000 Arab Jews were forced leave their homes but apparently only Holocaust survivors matter. And they seem to include children of Holocaust survivors as being Holocaust survivors too when it suits them.

Yup. Women in abusive relationships can also look well on the outside. Doesn't mean they've been in an even remotely acceptable situation.

noblegiraffe · 29/11/2023 18:54

I think they're looking at different hostages to me because some of them look fucking awful; the children particularly.

Stomacharmeleon · 29/11/2023 18:55

It's the same old name changing posters.

I'm shocked that they allow it to continue

Humdingerydoo · 29/11/2023 19:22

@noblegiraffe

I am pretty sure the rest of the hostages will never be returned, as this is how they'll have been treated.

Mumsnet is getting worse
Stomacharmeleon · 29/11/2023 19:24

Oh well, I know it's early, but at least i haven't been called a genocidal b*h today.

Humdingerydoo · 29/11/2023 19:25

Ugh, anyway. Just wanted to post on here as wanted to post somewhere not filled with hate. Just feeling very sad today, and like things are about to get a whole lot worse for everyone.

EllaDisenchanted · 29/11/2023 19:27

@Humdingerydoo you're not alone, I am struggling too. I feel like if I show how I feel, it will be turned around as a weapon to 'prove' that we have no empathy for anyone except Israeli children. How can they think that? How could anyone possibly wish for a single child to die, whatever their nationality? The whole situation is unbearable.

Humdingerydoo · 29/11/2023 19:56

Wish me luck, I'm going in. Despite knowing it's just going to stress me out even further. It's so hard to let some of the shit they say go unchallenged.

PurpleChrayne · 29/11/2023 20:02

I've just come onto this thread to have a little cry and a vent.

I'm so sad about Kfir. That sweet boy. He's been on my mind since the first video of him and Ariel and their mum being taken. I think he's lodged in my heart so much because my son Yitzi (I'll say his name; i'm not worried about being outed. I don't care anymore) is exactly the same age. He has the same plastic rattle/ball Kfir is holding on one of the photos. And the pictures of Ariel with his long hair, and then the one of him sitting in a barber's chair, obviously just having had his upsherin. Shiri Bibas could be my sister or my friend. I feel so close to her, even though I have never met her. I have cried every day for that family, since October 7.

And Emily Hand. That poor sweet girl. Her father's reports of how she cries and has forgotten how to be comforted.

It's too much for me tonight. I feel so sad. The idiots on the Conflict in the ME thread are just so low with their whataboutery.

DownNative · 29/11/2023 20:17

Stomacharmeleon · 29/11/2023 18:39

I wish Mumsnet would do more. I have asked them to step in on that thread.

In the support for Israeli businesses and charities thread, I finally put a sternly worded message to MNHQ in it saying they're letting people make a mockery of their guidelines, messed up ME section and that MN Team need proper antisemitism and anti-terrorism training.

No reply, but they deleted the posts I was reporting and told people in general to stick to the thread topic.
