42 and starting IVF treatment tomorrow - would love some company for the journey ☺️

Hi ladies, so, as the title reads, I start the injections tomorrow evening. I have an appointment with my clinic (Care) tomorrow morning for the baseline scan and to get the treatment plan. Meds have arrived so we are ready to go! My AMH is 8.3 with follicle count of 14.

I had my son via IVF 11 years ago and was very lucky that it worked first time and on the NHS. This time it's private and costing a fortune. This is the only shot we have at this so we are feeling the pressure for sure.

I fell pregnant last month naturally (first time ever due to PCOS) but that ended in a chemical at 5 weeks. We are opting for PGTA testing and keeping everything crossed for a euploid.

Is anyone else starting this journey?

Thanks @overwork That's exactly how I see it - they have zero chance if they aren't tried but I've read of people getting babies from poorly graded embryos so there's definitely some hope there!

Thank you @IndigoBluey you're definitely right when you consider some of the situations people get pregnant and have babies in, nothing can really be perfect can it. I agree with how supportive this thread is! Please stick around and keep us updated with your FET

overwork · 26/08/2026 22:13

I’d love to hear more about the timings of a FET too if you don’t mind! If I get a lucky euploid, it would be nice to know when we can plan a weekend away etc (or when not to!)

IndigoBluey · 27/08/2026 13:07

I’ll let you know how I get on. I was really keen for a break away in September between now and FET. I should have my next steps letter early next week and details around meds and timings

overwork · 27/08/2026 14:52

Yeah it will be nice to get away and try to think about something else!

overwork · 29/08/2026 15:24

Hello! How are you doing @Magix86- tempted to test yet? And @PearOpalyou must be nearing your 12 week scan now! Then it will really feel real! I took another test this morning, stark white negative, so I’ve taken myself off the progesterone (I’m 11 days post transfer so would definitely be showing by now!)

Magix86 · 29/08/2026 15:35

Oh @overwork I'm really sorry about the negative test 😕 sending a huge hug your way.
Yes @PearOpal how are you doing? Hope you're feeling well

I've been testing since 2 days past my transfer 😂😂 but only because I wanted to be sure the trigger was out of my system! Very very negative up until this point. I'm not actually feeling very hopeful this time, I just can't believe we'd be lucky enough to have success 2 times in a row. But we'll see. I'm not really feeling much in the way of symptoms or anything.

overwork · 29/08/2026 17:34

Why not you? Someone has to be a success first transfer otherwise the stats are wrong! But if not this time, you’ve an excellent stash left over if you need to use them. It’s difficult not to trust your gut though isn’t it!

PearOpal · 30/08/2026 16:17

Sorry for being a bit absent all - work has been absolutely bonkers and this fatigue is still kicking my butt. So many updates to catch up on but I'm glad to see that everyone is moving forward in one way or another. @overwork sorry about the negative test, I know that's disappointing, sending lots of love your way.

@Magix86 how're you feeling? @IndigoBluey congrats on the ER results and fingers crossed for the upcoming FET! Every cycle is a bit different but happy to try and share my experience if its at all helpful. I've only done FET so I can't compare to a fresh process. @Sheffters thrilled to hear you've found a match so quickly, congrats!

I'm doing well just generally exhausted but I'm viewing it as a positive that my body is working to do what I want it to which is to keep growing this baby. I'm 9W now and have my first formal appointment next week so I'm excited and very nervous about that.

IndigoBluey · 31/08/2026 15:51

Sorry to hear about your negative test @overwork will you take a break and do the clinic follow up to go through next steps?

thanks @PearOpal I hope your appointment goes well next week. I am still planning first FET in September, depending on cycle going back to normal so feeling a bit in between right now but trying to enjoy some time off from the constant IVF thoughts!

Magix86 · 01/09/2026 07:55

@PearOpal 9 weeks! It sounds like your body is doing everything it needs to.

Negative tests for me so far. 7dp5dt today so I think I'm out. I had a really visible positive at 6dp5dt last time so I know this time feels very different. We'll be going ahead with a FET on our next cycle so I guess a couple of months time?!

overwork · 01/09/2026 08:08

Oh @Magix86I’m so sorry. How disappointing. There’s got to be a good one waiting in your frozen ones though.
Maybe we’ll be FET twins if one of mine is euploid.
I have my Beta at the clinic today. Can’t really see the point, but they book it in your 2WW. Think I’ll call and check and see if they insist

Magix86 · 01/09/2026 11:24

Thanks @overwork ❤️ hopefully the clinic won't make you go in if it's not necessary.
I know we have a good amount frozen but it's hard to be confident when they aren't tested. We'll be transferring a 3AB from our first round in 2024 so I'm hoping this has more of a chance but we'll see!

overwork · 01/09/2026 11:26

Ooh that sounds like a good one! Would you test them?

Magix86 · 01/09/2026 11:43

@overwork I don't think I'd test them now they've already been frozen. I just never expected to have 10 embryos lol.
I really hope you're not waiting for too much longer for your results

overwork · 01/09/2026 12:40

Another week or two yet unfortunately. They did recommend me to have the blood test this morning to see if there was any traces of hCG but even if there were, it still wouldn’t be viable, so I declined. I have my follow up with the consultant towards the end of the month as she’s on leave, but that fits with us wanting a bit of a break from it all so no rush.

overwork · 01/09/2026 12:42

@PearOpalyour body is doing exactly what it’s meant to, though I’m sorry you’re struggling. Trimester 2 will be easier! Is this the first midwife apt?

PearOpal · Yesterday 18:39

@Magix86 I'm sorry to hear the test was negative but I remain in awe of your embryo numbers. Your baby is definitely in that group somewhere.

Yes this will be my first appointment. A bit oddly they've booked me off cycle since my clinic did my first scan at 6 weeks. We're still doing every 4 but they've started the count from that mark rather than going in at 8/12/16 etc.

overwork · Today 14:24

Hopefully the timings won’t make any difference and all will even out eventually!
I had a call about my PGT-A results and it’s not good news, both were abnormal in different ways unfortunately. Not hugely surprising but still disappointing

Magix86 · Today 15:22

Oh @overwork I'm sorry to see this 😕 I had a lot of hope for you for those 2! Hope you're doing OK

overwork · Today 15:29

Me too! Yes this news feels weirdly worse than the embryo not sticking. Probably because we still had a back up before. Now we have some soul searching to do!

PearOpal · Today 16:54

I'm sorry you got such disappointing news @overwork. Sending you my love and I hope you all are able to take some time this weekend to process.
