42 and starting IVF treatment tomorrow - would love some company for the journey ☺️

Hi ladies, so, as the title reads, I start the injections tomorrow evening. I have an appointment with my clinic (Care) tomorrow morning for the baseline scan and to get the treatment plan. Meds have arrived so we are ready to go! My AMH is 8.3 with follicle count of 14.

I had my son via IVF 11 years ago and was very lucky that it worked first time and on the NHS. This time it's private and costing a fortune. This is the only shot we have at this so we are feeling the pressure for sure.

I fell pregnant last month naturally (first time ever due to PCOS) but that ended in a chemical at 5 weeks. We are opting for PGTA testing and keeping everything crossed for a euploid.

Is anyone else starting this journey?

@overwork that sounds good and like you say, enough changes to make it feel like it's worth another go! I have everything crossed for you. Will be really interested to see how the HGH goes for you. I don't know anything about PICSI! I'll have to look it up. Someone recommended zymot to me so I think we'll bear that in mind following this next round. I actually feel reluctant to make many changes this time because we do get the egg numbers and decent fertilisation but it's just the drop off after day 3 that seems to be our issue. I'm not sure if it's just the luck of the cycle perhaps. If it happens again this third time tho then I'll see what else we can do.

Thank you 🙏 I’ve taken a bit longer to start round 2. I felt really down and out of sorts after a cancelled first round before Christmas.

any tips other than the usual supplements? I’ll be missing my daily coffee! I continued with usual exercise, cardio and strength classes last time and I’m wondering whether to dial that back completely and just go for walks.

Im also unfamiliar with picsi but we did ICSI and unite this round. Since it was our first I’ve got nothing to compare it to but for whatever it’s worth I don’t think it hurt.

I had a crazy night last night so I caved and tested on cheapies (it’s 5dp5dt) and I swore I saw a line. But then I realized it was expired so I tried a CB digital and it was positive!!! I’ve never seen a positive test in my life and I’m absolutely floored. There’s a part of me that doubts it’s real but I’m hoping if a digital picked it up already that maybe my HCG will be in a good spot by my OTD.

Ahh massive congratulations @PearOpal that's such a good sign getting a positive on a digital! With my son I first tested positive on day 6 I think. Enjoy the feeling and relax. I'm so happy for you ☺️

@IndigoBluey I'm sorry about your cancelled first round and how it left you feeling. Why was it cancelled? I do all my usual exercise and sports until I start stims then I basically stop until after egg collection. I'm not sure what the recommended thing to do is but during stims you want to be careful about lifting and twisting I think. I'm on preconception Vitamins, omega 3 and I've added in ubiquinol 400mg the past couple of weeks. I cut out caffeine as best I can and try to eat healthy but I have to say I could definitely be doing better

@IndigoBluey I'm a caffeine addict so I can't say i cut it out completely but i did try to limit it. I definitely was a big believer in COQ10. When we first went to an infertility clinic the doctor said if there's even one single thing you can do please take COQ10 so we went with that and I can't prove that it helped but I know it's one of the few things universally agreed on that it doesn't hurt.

I'm now on my norethisterone to schedule my cycle, due to start stims in a couple of weeks. Nothing else to report really!

I’m just waiting for my period to start so we can do our next round. If it were on time it would come by Friday but I know things can be a bit awry after IVF so we shall see

@Magix86 yes they’re still getting darker thankfully first beta came back at 260 so I’ve got my second scheduled for tomorrow to confirm it’s doubling how it should.

@overwork hopeful things get deterred soon. The wait is the absolute worst.

@overwork spellcheck got me and I just noticed! Definitely don’t want anything “deterred”. No idea how my bungled distracted writing of “started” turned into that 😂. This is how you know I’m the world’s worst multitasker!

@LFlynn91 ahhhh congrats!!! I got a faint line on a cheapie at 5DPT so I used the same sample to try a digital and got a clear positive. I just kept testing every morning because I’m shamelessly addicted and to make sure there was some progression until my beta. Do you have your beta scheduled already?

Haha I will defo be testing every morning too! My clinic doesn’t do a beta but I may book a private one xx

Still no period so still nothing happening over here. Would rather out doesn’t come for a few days now. If it starts over the weekend and I stim for the same number of days as last time, it would mean egg collection on a Friday and I’d have a childcare headache!

Finally started my period and had my baseline scan, I start stims again today (and Clomid and HGH). There was no fluid in my lining for the first time since I started checking it, about October last year. Which feels like a good start. There’s a couple of old cysts left on my ovary from the last cycle but they’re not concerned about those. And we’re starting with 10 follicles which I think is really similar to last time. How is everyone else doing?

@overwork thats fantastic news!!! I’m glad the fluid cleared out I know that was something you were focused on so it’s nice to hear your positive news. 🤗

Im officially 5 weeks so chugging along. My first u/s is scheduled so just biding my time until then. DH is refusing to really believe the news until we confirm it visually- so I’m hoping it’s a happy appointment.

Ah. I do think it could be hard to accept that you’ve finally got some good news after all this effort to get there. And for the whole pregnancy it’s quite easy for a partner to believe nothings happening until baby arrives! Probably a week or two for your scan? And presumably you don’t have to go all the way to Greece for it? Very excited for you - you’ll be the first to make it that far on this thread I think @PearOpal

Had my first monitoring scan. One follicle is already at 16mm so I might be starting fyrmadel today, just waiting for the consultant to confirm. They may do the egg collection as early as Weds but obviously will know more on that next week

@overwork sounds good! Are the rest of the follicles growing well too? I started my bleed today after my norethisterone and having really bad cramps 😖
