Hello! I’ve been following these boards for a couple of months, having initially said I’d not put myself through IVF (as the odds are pretty low at my age), I’ve somehow found myself starting my first cycle this month. I’m 42 so not expecting miracles. If we are successful, this would be our second baby.

Seems like it’s generally about 12 days from first injection to egg collection then, that just about fits in… we shall see! Seems like such a quick process with a fresh transfer, let’s hope all goes smoothly. Hi @Moosey898, I followed these threads for a little while whilst trying to decide whether IVF was the right next step for us and unfortunately I recognise your name, hope you’re doing okay

Thanks @overwork - both me and my other half are struggling a lot with our situation. Just can't quite believe it's our reality. And we are fast approaching the end of our options. Just trying to keep going best we can without falling apart. ❤️

I’m sorry @Moosey898. It must be so very hard. Emotionally, physically and on your finances. I just hope that something clicks this time and you get some good ones

First injection just done!!

How was this for you? I am starting at the end of May! I am nervous.

My protocol is:

450iu Menopur x10 days
Fyremadel 0.25mg x8 days
Ovitrelle 250mcg

overwork · 12/05/2026 10:41

Mine is quite similar @KKD09though my Menopur is for 12 days and my trigger is Zivafert

How are you getting on with your injections @LFlynn91? Have you started stims @TheNavyFatball And any sign of your period @SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite? Nothing here yet, hoping it starts tomorrow morning then I can get my baseline scan done tomorrow afternoon!

@overwork yes my has period started and today will be my first day taking the oestrogen. My first scan to check my lining is next Friday (day 9) and assuming all goes well I will then start the progesterone around two weeks today (they’ve doubled it for this attempt, even though I didn’t get that far last time). I will then have the transfer end of May / start of June. Adding in clexane and aspirin the day after the transfer. And my clinic says to test 10 days after the transfer. Gah!

I keep thinking I’m fine but then it won’t take a lot for me to suddenly get emotional or panicky. I do remember the oestrogen had a bit of a ‘chill pill’ effect last time so hopefully it is the same this time! I kept yawning in a relaxed rather than tired way the first couple of days. My friend said I sounded like I was “enjoying a martini after a long sauna session” 🤣

@Moosey898 I remember you from the February thread we were on, I’m keeping everything crossed for you this time 💕

Percy15 · 15/05/2026 07:36

hi all, hope you are all doing ok 💖
it’s a tough wait for your period isn’t it @overwork
i’ve just got a negative test and due to start mine Sunday or Monday and now just want it to start on time, all my meds are being delivered today
I’m doing a short protocol with bemfola and fyremadel and it’s low dose stims, they think I’m at higher risk of ohss which I’m really hoping to avoid so we can do fresh transfer this cycle!
Keeping everything crossed for everyone
xxxxx

Thanks for checking in! Injections going well thank you, I’ve got no symptoms at all and feel normal! Got my scan on Monday to check on things! I hope no symptoms doesn’t mean my follicles haven’t grown!

how are you getting on? Xx

princesspookie250 · 15/05/2026 10:07

Need some advice! I went to Miracle IVF in Cyprus.
Just wanted to share my experience and get some advice. I’m currently 13dp5dt I was advised to get my beta at 12dp5dt I’m still waiting for the results but I’ve had negative tests yesterday and today. I don’t “feel” pregnant if that makes sense. I’m at the point now where I just know I’m out this cycle. Has anyone had negative tests and then good hcg levels after their blood test or should I just be realistic with myself that this cycle has been unsuccessful.

SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite · 16/05/2026 18:13

I’m sorry I don’t have anything to share on this @princesspookie250as I haven’t actually made it all the way to my first transfer, I had to stop last time after the baseline scan as I had got accidentally pregnant and miscarried (I was high risk and told to wait for a transfer). I hope you are ok. My clinic doesn’t take a beta without an at home positive test. For my 5 day embryo I’ve been told to test 10 days post transfer, and if I get a negative try again on day 12.

Feeling so awful about this transfer. In reference to my last post: it seems like I only have the headache element of the martini effect of the oestrogen this time, none of the relaxation / chill pill effects I enjoyed before 🤦🏻‍♀️! And I keep feeling tearful imagining it going wrong. This is only day 3 the process, just wondering how I’m going to stay sane over the next month. My DH is saying “you’re not focusing on what could go right”, but why is that so hard

overwork · 17/05/2026 09:40

@SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite you’re just protecting your heart. And it sounds like your hormones are deliberately not helping you out here!
So I’ve finally started my period. We fly 2 weeks on Tuesday so latest EC I could do is 2 weeks tomorrow. I’ll check with the clinic but that’s too tight isn’t it?
Unbelievably, my 2.5 year old broke his leg this week so we have that added stress to deal with, so maybe it’s good to take IVF off our plate for another month

Hey @overwork thanks for checking in! I had my baseline scan on Thursday and Dr was happy to start stims, which I started that night. So far so good, no major side effects and staying positive.
I live in Glasgow but my treatment is at a London clinic, so we came down yesterday with our dog which had been a lovely distraction. She is settling in well and I’m hoping she’s going to enjoy her wee holiday even if it’s not a holiday for me.

Have you heard from the clinic or will it be tomorrow now? Hope your wee one is okay! It’s such a cliche, but a holiday might be exactly what you need to come back and then go again with all this!

Oh blimey that’s quite a commitment, did you have a preference for a particular clinic or are there no options in Glasgow?
We’re based in London so almost had too many options really. I’ve been all over the place today, this morning I called and agreed to a baseline scan tomorrow, and then 3 hours later I called back and cancelled this month and we’ll wait till June.
It’s sounding like we can’t have our little one in nursery whilst he’s in a cast, so we just have so much to juggle, plus the pressure of hoping egg collection will be done before we go on hols and I just think it might be too much!

Ah that’s totally understandable. So important to be kind to yourself and do the things that will make your life a tiny bit easier in the long run.

Theres only really two options in Glasgow: one private and to self fund NHS. I didn’t want to do the NHS option as it’s very difficult to plan around appointments- you have to call up on cycle day one and book in for the month and it can take up to 5/6 goes to book in at the moment. I felt I couldn’t make that work around my work and also found it would be quite mentally draining not knowing when you would be starting.
I had a consultation with the private clinic and really didn’t get a good feel. I felt the consultant was very negative about our chances of success due to my AMH and I just wanted to have someone that I knew would throw the kitchen sink at it so I’d have no regrets.

I’m at Avenues in London but there is so much choice here. It’s actually worked out cheaper for the treatment in London too, although then I need to factor in travel etc.

First stims scan this afternoon to let me know how it’s going, so keeping everything crossed. I’ve been lucky to not have any side effects really, but now I’m doubting if that means it’s not working.. mental gymnastics!!

overwork · Today 09:01

Oh brilliant, I hope all goes well - do let us know! I’ve heard some wonderful things about Avenues
