December 2025 FET

Is anyone going to have a FET in December?

I was expecting to have one in January but when I went to the clinic yesterday they are going to try and squeeze a natural FET cycle in before the Christmas break!

I am 36, had my first egg collection last month but wasn't suitable for a fresh transfer. If my cycle plays ball my transfer will be 15th-17th December.

Hopeful for a lovely Christmas present but also being realistic given age and first transfer etc.

@CoolSummer89 I've been told day 5 higher grades are more likely to be boys too - can't find the evidence!! IVF does produce slightly more boys than girls though, that's definitely true, I think it's about 5% more. I did wonder if our Day 6s were girls 😂.

I transferred a Day 5 4AB (interestingly we had a 5AB but the embryologist thought the 4AB looked better) so I'm assuming it's a boy. Also from the UK.

And @BellaTink647 to second what @zirafica said, I've been bloated and crampy the whole time on and off!

CoolSummer89 · 21/12/2025 21:35

Yes @Bees28 we’re mostly from the UK here (I believe) sometimes people in Ireland too.

it’s illegal to know the sex of embryos in the UK, the only exception is if your doing DNA testing for inherited diseases where there might be a carrier. So for example my friend knows she transferred a female embryo which is a carrier for the disease, but won’t be affected!

It’s so fascinating. The embryo I have transferred is a day 5 5AA and I have read an internet rumour that these are 70% boys. Although apparently this is not true but it’s all I have to go on!

Interesting as mine was a 5AA which I’d read was more likely to be a boy!! Not sure how true it is but will be funny to see how that turns out x

whysohardtogetusername · 21/12/2025 21:48

Also I think I can see why we have a higher rate of positives - these are all high grades for embryos!!

Bees28 · 21/12/2025 21:57

I had no idea it was illegal over there!
I’m certainly not sexist, just always have wanted to raise both genders since I was a kiddo my damn self haha …I’m giving everything I got next transfer though. I don’t care the gender at this point.

CollsR · 21/12/2025 22:17

@Klmno Im really sorry about your negative result. It really sucks. I hope your partner and you can grieve together & get lots of support from some good friends and family. This journey is not for the faint of heart.

I think you’ve done the right thing telling lots of friends and family. I did the same. I needed thier support before transfer, during transfer and after when it failed. I mostly have had good friends & and my Dad was nice about it. Second time I just told those who were good the first time.

AnxiousHopeful · 22/12/2025 11:35

Klmno · 21/12/2025 19:50

Thanks ladies.
@AnxiousHopeful would you telling me a little more about the testing if you get a moment? I think I want to throw the kitchen sink at things like immune testing, microbiome testing etc and maybe a hysteroscopy...but it's hard to know how long these things/results actually take? Also tempted to go a bit rogue on my own and take aspirin and also just ask my doctor if they'll prescribe treatment even without the results if that makes sense.... Like can you just take blood thinners or steroids 'just in case' it's that or are they always reluctant to prescribe stuff without evidence that's the problem?
I don't give a shit how much this costs now, I just want a baby.

@zirafica no I've not had the pgt-a testing as I'm 35 and all out transfers are included in our package...so initially it felt like no point...but now thinking we might transfer 1 more and test the rest in the meantime. We have 6 left in the freezer.
If the 3rd one works I would want the others tested anyway as for a sibling round we'd have to pay for each transfer.
If 3rd one fails at least we'd know where we stand.

Sorry I'm kind of just thinking out loud here. I always just need a plan to help me feel a bit better!

@CoolSummer89 thank you sooo much that does reassure me somewhat! It's so hard to know if we've just got unlucky with the embryos they've selected being our abnormal ones in a genetic sense, or whether there's something else at play. It's hard to know whether to gamble precious embryos on the fact we could have just got unlucky.

Edited

Hi @Klmno, apologies we are travelling and I'm just trying to type this up on a phone so it may not be that conclusive but after a really difficult journey we found a consultant who specialised in things like miscarriage. We are really glad we did because she suggested a number of things other consultants haven't.

We did a ALICE/EMMA which I think told us things like whether we have natural killer cells and the state of the uterus. I think based off that our consultant suggested using steroids and doing antiphopshoplipid infusions which also helps with my wife having an autoimmune disease

She's also on blood thinners as she has a genetic marker for clots and things which I think can affect implantation.

We also did PGTA testing. There was other stuff too but a lot of it may or may not be that relevant!

The thing we did that we think has helped things was get a opinion from someone who really specialises in cases that are not straightforward, we initially spoke to someone whos approach would have been to wait for three failed retrievals to make changes and were glad for the FET we have the ultra careful consultant. We can pass on the details of the person we are using if that maybe helpful?

Really thinking of you! With 6 embryos you have a really good chance!

CoolSummer89 · 23/12/2025 07:28

Good morning from 7days past transfer, where I just examined my nipples to see if they look different. I can’t remember what they looked like before.

hope everyone is doing well, whether you are waiting to test or processing the result ❤️

Well done making it this far @CoolSummer89 !! I found say 5 to be the toughest and then I found it quite a lot easier from there. Are you testing Xmas day? Sorry I know you have said but it’s hard to keep track!

If it’s any consolation.. I didn’t notice any breast changes until the day I tested!! So hard not to look for every little thing isn’t it? I did have some signs/symptoms throughout the TWW but I’ll never know if they were implantation or progesterone.

Also.. got my 2-3 on the digital this morning and my first response line is officially darker than the test line so I feel like I can see things are progressing nicely and I’m going to stop testing now 🥰

CoolSummer89 · 23/12/2025 09:06

Thanks @AnonTTC I am testing tomorrow. There is a Christmas Eve night out with people who are back home for the holidays and I don’t want to be seen not drinking if I’m not pregnant. Also at the equivalent of 13dpo most tests should be pretty accurate.
Currently not feeling too hopeful, I just feel very normal.

that’s so exciting that your HCG is rising and you are getting more confident tests. Did you say when your scan was booked for?

BellaTink647 · 23/12/2025 09:53

Best wishes to you for test day tomorrow @CoolSummer89

My cramping on Sunday night was later accompanied by some blood early hours of Monday morning so I had a very anxious day yesterday. Had nothing since then and my clinic don't seem concerned... have said just to monitor symptoms. I've read so much online about how normal this can be but that really doesn't help when you're in it! I know this isn't what this thread is really for so won't clog it with this chat but sharing in case others have had or go on to have similar!

CoolSummer89 · 23/12/2025 10:07

Hi @BellaTink647 i think this is exactly what this thread is for!

have you ever listened to the BFN podcast. I listened to it when I was preparing for IVF as in their earlier episodes they are going through it themselves. They both had bleeding throughout their pregnancies, I think they are called subchorionic haematomas? Apparently reasonably common in early pregnancy but particularly so in IVF pregnancies.

never nice to experience so early on, but it’s good news that it’s stopped.

OP posts:
whysohardtogetusername · 23/12/2025 10:55

@BellaTink647 I've also read that bleeding is normal, but it's not reassuring is it?! I've been having some quite bad cramping this morning and similarly trying not to worry too much, but it's hard!!

@CoolSummer89 I still don't have any noticeable breast changes (maybe very very slightly swollen at most, but within the range of fluctuation I'd have in a normal month) and I'm 8 days past test now. The only noticeable sign I can now identify was a dry/different taste in my mouth when I woke up that started around day 5/6. I thought I was coming down with a sore throat so I drank a load of orange juice 😂 Otherwise nothing new that I didn't already have from the progesterone.

CollsR · 23/12/2025 11:13

I've had very strong red bleeding once during pregnancy and all was fine. Pregnancy hormones (& especially with the IVF drugs) make the vaginal wall lining super thin. So any romance, or just putting meds where we need, can cause a little tear in the skin that bleeds a bit or a lot.

CollsR · 23/12/2025 11:14

I'm maybe testing very early tomorrow and then again Christmas morning and every morning until my OTD of 29th.

I'm disappointed to feel normal, despite feeling normal last time I had a positive test. I didn't feel any different until about 8 weeks.

BellaTink647 · 23/12/2025 11:30

@CoolSummer89 @whysohardtogetusername Thanks so much, every little bit of reassurance is what I need atm ♡

@collsR I know what you mean. I feel we can't win because no symptoms, i feel what want them. And then symptoms, I worry they're not the right ones! 😆

AnonTTC · 23/12/2025 13:31

Thanks @CoolSummer89 . My scan is booked for 13th Jan, so 3 weeks today. I should be around 7 weeks 5 days by then so hopefully far enough along to get a clear heartbeat 🤞🏼

Good luck for testing tomorrow, will keep everybody crossed for you ✨

@BellaTink647 sorry you’ve had a stressful few days. I know others have already mentioned but I’ve ready bleeding is really common in IVF pregnancies, not sure why! It’s good that your clinic aren’t concerned but I know that doesn’t help us worrying sometimes. It’s funny how quick the mindset can shift because before we tested I was desperate to “feel something” e.g. cramps and now we know we’re pregnant whenever I get cramps it makes me nervous!! Hopefully no more scares for you and it was just a normal early pregnancy bleed x

Hi ladies… so I did another pregnancy test just now and it was negative. I knew something was off but wanted to hope. Not this time for me then! (blood tests results will hopefully come back tomorrow to confirm and silver linings is I can drink for Christmas!). I honestly prefer to find out about it early days rather than at the scan with the clinic!

Will probably take a break from this thread for now but I wanted to wish you all a very healthy pregnancy and a smooth journey to motherhood.

Take care and happy Christmas!

CoolSummer89 · 23/12/2025 14:32

Hi @Poppy9991 sorry to hear that it appears to be a chemical. Incredibly bittersweet at this time of year.

thanks for your well wishes and ‘journey to motherhood’ comment, that’s really touching. Sometimes it’s easy to forget when you’re in the midst of all the meds and the appointments ❤️

Hey @Poppy9991 really sorry to read this and sending lots of love ❤️ totally understand you wanting to step away from this thread but before you go I hope you have a lovely Christmas & wishing you all the luck in the world for your next round in the NY, and that 2026 is your year ✨ xxx

@Poppy9991 I'm so sorry. Thank you for your well wishes to us all on our journey to motherhood. I hope you get your sticky embryo one day soon xxx

Definitely! Somebody else recommended the Jessie ware one to me but I haven’t listened yet. I believe that one is more pregnancy related and the get different guests on to discuss what’s going on in your body each week etc so could also be useful to explain any symptoms x

CollsR · 23/12/2025 23:42

Goodluck to anyone testing early tomorrow or Christmas Day. I’ve decided not to test early. I barely have the heart to do so. My partner wants to wait until our OTD on 29th Dec.

Im just going to stay in my bubble where everything is possible a bit longer and enjoy Christmas. Maybe I’ll test on the 26th. I really don’t know.
