December 2025 FET

CoolSummer89 · 21/11/2025 10:50

Is anyone going to have a FET in December?

I was expecting to have one in January but when I went to the clinic yesterday they are going to try and squeeze a natural FET cycle in before the Christmas break!

I am 36, had my first egg collection last month but wasn't suitable for a fresh transfer. If my cycle plays ball my transfer will be 15th-17th December.

Hopeful for a lovely Christmas present but also being realistic given age and first transfer etc.

@Bees28 that's really interesting that you're on a full immune protocol and the Lovenox for clotting - fingers crossed throwing the kitchen sink at it works! Definitely sounds like a good plan.

AnonTTC · 15/12/2025 14:51

Oh @wishinghard2 , my heart really felt for you when I read your message. I am so sorry, that is a curve ball I bet you never expected 😔 I can imagine you and your partner are feeling all sorts of emotions not knowing the outcome, and potential concerns for the blasts you do have. As if this process isn't anxiety inducing enough!

Like the others have said, I'd be confident the clinic would give you the option to complete an additional round and no extra cost. However, we all know how hard it is on our bodies doing a round of IVF so even if that is the case I'm sure you'll still be completely gutted to have to start over.

Sending lots of love & hugs and keeping everything crossed for some positive news for you both ❤️✨

Peonies94 · 15/12/2025 18:04

@whysohardtogetusername ahh amazing, congratulations! It is soo hard to accept a positive, I found that! Jusf so weird seeing it there, hard for it to sink in. I was testing like crazy too! Did my last test yesterday though and have vowed to not test again!

@wishinghard2 ohh that’s such a difficult situation! I’m so sorry you’re having this to deal with and such an extra worry! Did you source the donor through the clinic or seperately? Hope everything will be able to go ahead for you soon! Can’t imagine how you must be feeling right now!

wishinghard2 · 15/12/2025 18:42

Thank you for the kind messages everyone.

So the latest on my saga. Ideally they wanted to transfer both the blasts (low grade 4CC and 3BC) today but as you know that was not to be. They have frozen both but unsure if they will survive the thaw should treatment go ahead. In the mean time, tests will be done to see if the abnormality is on the donor side or not - this can take 6 months.

We did get the donor from the clinic directly.

In the mean time we have asked if we can proceed with a second collection using a different donor while they try and figure everything out, as the likely outcome will
be that either A) they won’t survive the thaw or B) they will need to be discarded regardless if the donor is recalled.

Our contract says we must use all frozen embryo before doing a second collection but I think we have a good case to argue, plus, I turned 38 last month so age is not on my side! The consultant is off to speak to finance to find out if they will accept 🙄 however she has told us that with Christmas, booking availability and waiting for bleeds it will
be Feb/March before another collection treatment could start anyway.

In one hand we are are devastated, in another we know that had we had the transfer Friday and thing were positive and then we found out we would have worried every step of the way through the pregnancy that baby would not make it. So we just have to accept that’s it’s out of our hands and control and await next steps.

it’s the feeling that it’s a robbed opportunity that’s the worst and also the other poor family that must be going through so much right now too.

The only good thing is I don’t need to take any more progesterone!

wishinghard2 · 15/12/2025 18:44

Separately, it’s wonderful seeing positives popping up on this thread. I am so pleased! It’s such a hard journey and it’s so wonderful to see some good news stories! I’m rooting for you all @zirafica @whysohardtogetusername @Peonies94 (sorry if I missed anyone)

zirafica · 15/12/2025 18:54

@whysohardtogetusername YES GIRL CONGRATS!!!!

CollsR · 15/12/2025 19:27

Thanks for the well wishes for today 🥰. Everything went well with the transfer.

@whysohardtogetusername huge congratulations on the positive test! That’s brilliant news xxx

RavenWillow · 15/12/2025 19:37

Congratulations @whysohardtogetusername, that's such good news :)

Sequins04 · 15/12/2025 21:54

Congratulations @whysohardtogetusername - that's wonderful!

I'm so sorry to hear your update @wishinghard2 . I hope you hear from the funding team soon and find the strength to go again soon.

CollsR · 16/12/2025 07:19

@wishinghard2 Im very sorry you & your partner are going through this. That is a lot of information & a big change of course for you both to process.

I understand you feeling pressure at your age, but 38 is not that old. I started IVF late 39 & it took a few years to end up pregnant (we had different issues that caused delays, like my partner having to improve his aperm then getting Covid and having to wait +3 months again). I understand keeping your foot on thr accelerator but medically the Embryo Transfer should happen before your 52 for best chance of success… obviously it will be well before that.

In some ways this is lucky timing & would have been very hard news to get after with possibly years of worry. Issues with donors are exceptionally rare. I have personal experience. We used an egg donor as my eggs frozen during cancer treatment didn’t work. I saw in the news the recently an issue with a sperm donor that has led to children being born with the certainty of cancer in their lifetime & very sadly some children not surviving childhood. It sounds like you have a good clinic who take their legal obligation seriously.

CoolSummer89 · 16/12/2025 08:22

@wishinghard2 oh I’m so sorry you must be absolutely reeling! I am just preparing for my transfer this morning but will reply properly later.

my one thing I would say now is that they are a medical company presumably with some good insurance for these occurrences . You are an individual and a cost of a cycle is a big financial deal to you but for them they should be able to cover through insurance other budgets they have for liabilities.

Blueskycat · 16/12/2025 08:57

Good luck with your transfers today @CoolSummer89 and @Bees28 💖

Poppy9991 · 16/12/2025 10:22

Good luck for transfer @CoolSummer89 and @Bees28 !!!

@CollsR well done and now the wait starts!!

@wishinghard2 I completely understand the robbed opportunity feeling but I think you’re thinking about it the right way, even if you had a successful cycle you would have worried about it during the whole pregnancy… I think waiting and get either another donor or use your frozen embryos if safe is the right option and as someone said you’re not that old! I’m 43 now and using embryos that were frozen when I was 40 and had a very healthy boy from them!! There are so many possibilities with infertility treatments don’t feel too anxious about age!

Who’s testing next? I am 8 days post transfer today and testing on Friday (11dpt).

CoolSummer89 · 16/12/2025 10:57

Just in the waiting room, was told to arrive with a full bladder at 10:20. It is now practically 11am 🙃

OP posts:
Blueskycat · 16/12/2025 11:05

@CoolSummer89 nooo so much sympathy on the full bladder. It’s so uncomfortable… you can do it though! I hope they get you in there quickly.

If it feels like you can’t manage, I did an emergency small wee before one of my transfers so that’s an option if you think you can just let a bit out- they gave me a cup to make sure I didn’t let too much out 😂

@Poppy9991 I’m testing tomorrow, so nervous now!

CollsR · 16/12/2025 11:07

Goodluck @CoolSummer89 !

Yesteday was my 3rd transfer and I never managed to get the full bladder right. I was always too full or not enough. I hope you get seen soon xxx

AnonTTC · 16/12/2025 11:25

Good luck @CoolSummer89 - how exciting!!! The full bladder thing is tricky.. I thought I was going to wee myself when they put the speculum in and she said it was the most full bladder she'd seen all week 🤣

It was also tricky after because I naturally didn't want to go right away in fear the embryo would come out - lol!!

CoolSummer89 · 16/12/2025 12:06

All done! The embryo got stuck in the catheter on the first attempt and they had to go again. I think if my bladder had been any less full I might have been quite upset, but I was just trying to focus on not p*ssing myself!

My OTD is 28th December which seems a millennium away, so I just have to make sure I am distracted.

best of luck @Bees28 hope it goes well.

OP posts:
AnonTTC · 16/12/2025 12:18

Aww yay!! Glad you're all done & dusted 🥰 When I had mine they went and double checked it had gone in and said it's quite common for the embryo to get stuck because it likes the 'sticky fluid' in the catheter so definitely doesn't sound like anything to worry about ❤️

Fingers crossed for a speedy wait for you and hopefully with Christmas in the middle it will fly round!! x

BlueSkyWinterSun · 16/12/2025 14:44

@CoolSummer89 happy transfer day! Well done on holding onto that bladder!

@Blueskycat good luck for your testing tomorrow! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

@Poppy9991 I'm testing on Sat the day after you. I'll be 10dp5td but its what they gave me as an OTD.

Getting sooooooo nervous now and the days seem to be slowing down 😬.

Poppy9991 · 16/12/2025 15:00

@BlueSkyWinterSun interesting how every clinic has a different testing timeline I’ve seen some 14 days, some 12, 11 and yours is definitely the shorter I’ve seen so far! I think it’s a good thing!

I could test tomorrow too but I’m just thinking for me the testing is just one step. If by luck it is positive then I’ll start properly stressing about next steps. I’ve had quite a few losses before so for me even if I’ll obviously be glad to pass the first step? I will probably find it difficult to get too excited before the viability scan, and then 12 weeks. Which will take forever (even these 11 days wait feel like 6 months)…

AnonTTC · 16/12/2025 15:01

Sounds like we've got lots of testing going on this week!?

@Blueskycat - Weds
@Poppy9991 - Friday
@BlueSkyWinterSun & @BellaTink647 (?) - Saturday
Me - Sunday
@Klmno - not sure when you're testing but assuming it won't be too far behind me!?

Have I missed anyone?

Big week!! I definitely mentally spiralled the most the first 5 days. Something seems to have clicked in me and now I'm feeling much more chilled (thankfully), but I know I'll feel nervous again as test day gets closer.

Poppy9991 · 16/12/2025 15:12

@Bees28 by the way I’m on enoxaparin blood thinner injections too. I was for my last transfer too. This was prescribed to me by my private recurrent miscarriage consultant. I don’t have a blood clotting disorder but a genetic condition apparently that she identified and said could (we never know 100% the cause though) of my previous losses. I have to take it up to 26 weeks pregnancy last time and had a live birth for the first time. So I’m on it again this time.

Never used embryo glue. My clinic is not a fan of add-ons I remember bringing it up a while ago and they completely dismissed any real evidence that it improves chances. I personally think if you can afford it and your clinic offers it why not. But equally there are plenty of women who managed to get pregnant through IVF without it even if they had to go though one or several rounds. So all in all trust your guts and your clinic and hope for the best. As my last cycle worked last time without any add-ons I continue to trust my clinic and follow a similar protocol to last time.

Totes re the different test dates! So funny! I was initially going to delay mine till the Sunday as Sat is a busy day but my clinic is closed on Sundays so I'm going to stick with the Sat OTD incase its negative and I can contact them and start next steps.

wishinghard2 · 16/12/2025 15:32

@CoolSummer89 really pleased your transfer has been complete and keeping all the well wishes going you way!

lots of tests coming up this week. Let’s hope some good BFP news comes your way!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments and support yesterday and today. I was genuinely devastated yesterday but today I feel a lot better about the situation and it helps so much that I’ve had someone to talk to when the situation felt so unreal! You have all helped me to think positively and change my mindset from “why now” to “let’s be grateful that the right checks are being done”

I got a call from embryology to say a 3rd blast made it this morning so has been frozen and while they are all low grade and may need to be discarded anyway it is reassuring that 3 made it to blast from 4 eggs. I also have a follow up appointment on Jan 13th with the consultant which will hopefully give us both some clarity on next steps.

thank you once again everyone. You made a hard time a little bit easier and I really really appreciate you all
