Hello @Curious4567 it was lovely to hear from you! I'm glad you are staying positive, and so close to the finish line 💕 3rd September seems so close, I'm extremely excited for you!
It's a shame the move didn't go as planned 🙈I suppose that's just normal with any house move, but I was really hoping you'll get lucky with minimal delays... But at least you're settled in a space that will suffice until your final move, and your little boy is happy 😁 His little sister will not care the least bit about anything other than your and your husband's closeness, so it's just you grown ups having to put up with the house situation for a bit longer. Imagine how pleased you will be to finally get into your new home and start making it cosy 🥰 it will be so worth the wait!
Your heatwave experience seems really rough, I feel for you. Here in Scotland it really wasn't so bad, we've had a few nights when we were grateful to have a fan and slept under bedsheets but all in all can't complain. I do see that I cope with the heat worse than usual, bein so heavy and sweaty, so counting my blessings here 😂
Our summer was rather uneventful, we've visited our families in Poland and spent some time by the lakeside in a lovely forest area; almost completely offline and kind of reminiscent of our own childhood summers. I'm really glad our son could experience that, and I'd love to do this again in the future. Did you do any nice summer activities with your little one? Or was the heat too much?
Other than that we've had friends visit us here in Scotland, which was lovely, especially that I don't think we'll be traveling in the first 6 months or so after the baby is born.
This way we got to see them all and charged our social batteries 😊
The only downside is that I've postponed all nesting/preparations because of that and I'm now facing the whole lot: shopping, sorting, cleaning laundry, ironing, bag packing... the list goes on. At least I don't have to buy much as there's so much leftover from my first maternity! But I think my energy levels have dipped a bit now and I'm dreading it 🤣 How are you getting on with the final prep before your C-section? And what are your plans for the first days and weeks with the miracle girl? Will you have wider family support, or will it be just your small family with no interlopers?
I completely understand your thoughts on anxiety underlying this pregnancy. I've had no issues on any appointments tests or scans, and physically I'm well - probably better than in pregnancy 1, as I've made myself exercise much more consistently. But I am also a lot more worried about the baby's wellbeing, now in pregnancy, during birth and after. I'm trying not to give these thoughts too much attention, but they never fully go away, sadly. I hope this will ease after birth, but I'm fully prepared to ask for help if needed especially that intrusive thoughts were really hard for me in my earlier postpartum.
Our son is asking about the baby almost daily, we're trying to manage his expectations by giving him him little tidbits of information, drip by drip. Nursery also helped, they had some activities centred around newborns and babies, as several kids expect siblings soon. But I really do not think we can prepare him adequately, he's just not able to imagine what's coming. I expect a lot of jealousy and drama when he discovers just how much time the new brother will be spending cuddling with mommy! I really think they just need to experience all the emotions and go through them. I hope your boy will keep at least some of his joy and eagerness to meet his little sister 🩷 Let me know if you have any tips for the transition, I'm collecting all the advice I can get!
I've been told I won't be allowed to go past 39 weeks and the initial plan was to book induction for that date, which will be October 7th. However, I've been to my first growth scan since, and the baby was measured as LGA (Large for Gestational Age), which is making me reconsider my choices.
My first birth was complicated and needed assistance, the induction itself has a high risk of complications and need for intervention, and the baby has every chance being huge 🤣 I'll be asking for statistics and discussing ECS in my next midwife appointment. I'm leaning towards it, as I just want the baby to be safe; but still trying to keep an open mind.
I'm really happy you already know what your plan is, I hope your dates will be confirmed soon! And above all, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for these remaining weeks of pregnancy, I hope you have as easy a time as possible and enjoy these last moments, not long until you meet your daughter and the family is complete!
All the best and let me know how you are getting on, I'll be waiting for updates!
