IVF/ICSI February 2025 🌟 ❤️

Hi ladies,

Starting early with this thread in hope some are on a similar time frame!

36yo, been trying to conceive for 2yrs. Severe MFI as well as AFC of 3 and AMH of 1.9pmol/l

First IVF cycle with ICSI ended with a total failed fertilisation - 4 eggs collected, all mature but no fertilisation.

We have now switched to long cycle and added in DHEA, COQ10, melatonin, vitamin D, omega 3 alongside our fertility vitamins.

I should start my period end of Jan; and then start down-regulating February with transfer hopefully late February if I’ve worked it out right!

Anyone else on this mental torture of a ride?

@CanuckinLondon so sorry to hear this news, the highs and the lows are so extreme with this journey. Thinking of you.

Gagah · 19/02/2025 22:43

First time joiner - first round of IVF for MFI started stims on Sat, dose increased already as follicles on smaller side, rescanning tomorrow, fingers crossed they're responding more. No idea what's in store, hate the unknowns already but aware we're only just beginning!

@Nobodyknowsitall What an amazing story 🤩 That's an embryo with a strong will to thrive, keeping everything crossed it will stick and grow!

@Nads2210 Congratulations! Wishing you lots of patience in your TWW. It seems really random what the clinics advise as an appropriate wait time until OTD... seems like anything from 9 to 15 days goes, so your 12 is a happy middle 😊

@captainsmal I feel for you, don't have a good word to say about the Norethisterone! Hang in there, not long now. For me the stim time was a lot easier, hope this will be the case for you 🤞

I'm doing okay, just counting down days. I'm dealing with some abdominal pain / tenderness but trying not to read too much into it, it may very well be residual after EC!
I am testing the Ovitrelle out, but nothing conclusive yet... the lines are very faint, so now it's just a matter of waiting a few days.
Either they'll disappear, or come back / get stronger. Most ladies on my clinic's FB group say they had an inkling by 8dpt 🤔

Sorry!Completely missed this, Thank you & hope you get the strong lines appear soon!🤞🏼 I am really trying not to look in to anything even though its only 1dp5dt!!lol i deffinatly am a overthinker & 100% will be a obsessive tester 🤣
Symptom wise i'll be honest i dont remember feeling anything with my dd only the cramping so i deffinatly thought i was out but tg my thoughts were wrong!
Sending prayers & positive vibes ✨

Welcome & good luck with your scan tomorrow hopefully the dose change has worked well & you get a good amount of follicles (no idea what that number would be!) i started with 18 & ended with 2 5day blastos but it's so true when they say it only takes one x

That's so heartbreaking @CanuckinLondon look after yourself ivf is brutal, sending you virtual hugs 💜

Welcome new joiners to the tww! @Nobodyknowsitall lovely news, a 4AA embryo is just great!
I'm on the 2ww, no symptoms yet. On utrogestran.
@Happibara you do make me laugh with your pregnancy tests 😂I just avoid testing by having none in the house! I bet I would be testing daily if I did have them though! I'm still a bit uncomfortable too where the ovaries are especially when streching/ reaching up. I think it's becuase the ovaries will be still quite swollen for all of us. They take ages to shrink back down to normal.

Wishing everyone on stims and starting stims so much sucsess!

Happibara · 20/02/2025 08:47

@Cherryblossom90 That's interesting, the consultant and nurse never mentioned anything about my ovaries being enlarged during ET, but I suppose if that's just normal then they wouldn't. I'm just writing off any abdominal symptoms as EC related.
I agree, my testing is good for a laugh! And the testing is just the tip of the iceberg... the RHR tracking, symptom spotting, I hardly have mind space for anything else these days🤣
I did try to stop myself from testing in the early days of TTC and it just made me (more) miserable: I was still thinking about testing constantly, just not doing it 😅 So now I give in.
I don't involve my OH in this madness though, he's very much "just want to know on the OTD" person and I respect that.
I think your strategy of having no tests at home is great. And guess what, it's less than a week until OTD for you, right?🤞
How is the utrogestran for you? I read good things about it, in comparison to Cyclogest. I hope it's fine.

Happibara · 20/02/2025 09:27

@Nads2210 "overthinker & obsessive tester" that just about sums me up, glad we've found a space to be ourselves 🤣
In my first pregnancy I remember not having any symptoms until well into week 7, I kept testing because I couldn't convince myself it was real. So even though I notice every twinge I'm trying really hard not to read too much into it. All the best in your wait, just keep swimming!

Cherryblossom90 · 20/02/2025 09:28

@HappibaraI'm on utrogestran, no side effect yet! Yes 6 days to go! Seems like forever though!
Oh with my previous pregnancies also no pregnancy symptoms until earliest week 6. So don't worry!

Allnew2021 · 20/02/2025 13:24

Just had my first scan (day 8 of stims) and only had 5 folicals. My lining was also only 4.7mm. I had persistent problems with thin lining through all my previous testing and investigations so now I'm really worried that even if I somehow manage to get any blastocysts from only 5 folicals that I will struggle with a transfer due to my lining. Don't really know why I'm posting this update other than to rant really!

Cherryblossom90 · 20/02/2025 13:31

@Allnew2021 hopefully all 5 will continue to grow well. When's your next scan? I don't know to much about lining thickness, what's the ideal thickness and can they not give meds to help improve thickness. Definitly mention it at your next scan hopefully the nurse scanning can provide some reassurance!

Anyone else in the tww who will be due in November 2025 if they get a positive on their Otd?

😂😂 everyones told me to not test but im like its fun though 😂 Obviously there's always gonna be a chance of heartbreak but in my head this way it softens the blow on OTD, Im trying to hold off to 5dp x
Currently cramps that come & go very much like period cramps tbh
Hoping its implanting cramps but will know soon enough x

Allnew2021 · 20/02/2025 14:22

@Cherryblossom90 thank you for replying. My next scan is on Monday so I'll see how the folicals are doing then.
Before starting ivf I had oestrogen tablets and progesterone tablets for three cycles to see if my lining would recover and thicken after having adhesions removed. The thickest it got was 5.4mm. My consultant said a stim cycle might be the best way to thicken my lining but it doesn't seem to be having much impact yet.

Hi hopefully the follicles grow & mature well,
As for the lining I wouldn't worry too much as the clinic should be able to medicate your lining to the right thickness before transfer.
With me I was put on oestrogen patches for around 2 weeks then had a scan with aim of lining to be over 7mm mine was between 7.3 and 8.5 only then they added progesterone & set in stone transfer date, So if my lining wasn't where they would like it to be then they would up the dose/extend the time.
Take it each step at a time & it's good to rant i think we need it sometimes x
Wishing you all the best x

Hopefully a Nov baby brewing here 🤗
I did check google & got a date 🤦🏽‍♀️ iknow i really shouldn't lol (6/11)

Happibara · 20/02/2025 15:16

@Allnew2021 I hope these 5 follicles continue to grow and contain great quality eggs!
Not sure if this will be of interest, but some fertility specialists I follow on the internet do not insist on 7mm for lining for every transfer, but focus more on what is achievable for a particular patient, and how good the structure of the lining is.
Mine seems to be on a thin side; just there but not over the mark... I remember finding this video reassuring (Dr says she had success with 6 or even 5 mm): https://www.instagram.com/lucky.sekhon/reel/C0rhPViOyyL/

LuckyFlash · 20/02/2025 15:42

I’m now joining some of you in the TWW (with a potential November baby). OTD is 4/3 although I already know I will test on the Sunday rather than officially on the Tuesday as I don’t want to have to go to work disappointed.

ET went well today although our only blastocyst was a 3BB. I spent the train ride home googling success stories and of course there are plenty but I would have loved a higher grade. The embryologist said it was a ‘fantastic blastocyst’ but I imagine they say that to everyone!

nothing to freeze currently but 3 in the pre blastocyst stage so I’m keeping everything crossed that they catch up tomorrow. I would love a back up to avoid the pressure of the ‘it’s now or never’ feeling.

so a bit disappointed if I’m totally honest but trying to stay hopeful. Trying to remember my mantra that my body has done this before so knows what to do

Happibara · 20/02/2025 15:55

@LuckyFlash How do you feel after ET? And how was your wait since day 1 update?
It must have been hard waiting to learn how they grew!
But guess what, more waiting ahead in the TWW 😄 I'm glad you joined us! And fingers crossed for the 3 embryos, I hope they'll develop 🤞

LuckyFlash · 20/02/2025 15:59

@Happibara the wait was ok actually I have been super busy at work so haven’t thought much about it (unlike me). I did have a horrible stress dream about it last night though.

ET itself was fine although it’s more uncomfortable than I thought it would be. They were pushing the scanner so hard on my bladder I thought I was going to wee on the dr haha.

celebrated with a nice steak frites (shame no red wine…) as a boujie version of the post transfer McDonald’s fries

captainsmal · 20/02/2025 16:52

@LuckyFlash good luck with your 2ww! 🤞🏻

Allnew2021 · 20/02/2025 16:57

@Nads2210 and @Happibara thank you for your messages, I'm trying to stay positive and will hopefully have some good updates on Monday.

@LuckyFlash good luck with your 2ww!

Cherryblossom90 · 20/02/2025 17:32

@LuckyFlash congrats on your ET and hopefully at least some of the developing embryos will make it to freeze stage!
If you don't mind asking Im so confused how can your due date be the 3rd or 4th of November when mine is the the 5th of November and your period started a little after mine if I remember correctly? 😅😂I mean I don't have a positive pregnancy test yet so not sure why I'm worrying about due dates! Feel free to ignore me!
Thanks for your reply
@Nads2210here's to a BFP for us all!

Toryory21 · 20/02/2025 17:33

Hey ladies just going to flag that I have been one of those daily early testers and I now severely regret it!

Feel like at 8dp5dt that it’s not going to be good news (been using the cheap tests) and wish I had just waited for the bad news next week rather than this awful limbo… so if you are in your TWW .. I’d recommend staying away from the tests xxxx

Cherryblossom90 · 20/02/2025 17:36

@Toryory21 thanks for warning us about this. And please don't lose hope yet 💜when is your Otd?

Toryory21 · 20/02/2025 17:46

@Cherryblossom90 .. Monday so not too far away. Will mean another round for us as only had one embryo this time. Will update on results but best of luck to everyone in the meantime xxx
