I'm currently doing an FET and scan was on day 12 for me (probably due to cycle lengths sometimes being 32 days) and I got the all clear that day to go ahead with it as can transfer on 19th

My clinics last day for transfer was 22nd. I think if AF started today it would bring you to Xmas day for a day ten scan and potentially over the closure dates but you should check tomorrow.

Confusedddddddd · 15/12/2024 20:12

Help!!

I'm 6dp5dt and I have flu ( at least I'm 99.9% sure - I just spent the weekend in hospital with my DD who tested positive). I'm using all my allowance of paracetamol and still struggling to keep temp under 38. I know we're not allowed to take ibuprofen, is there anything else we can take to bring temp down?
I'll call the clinic in the morning, but worried about overnight... either I let the temp rise or I take something else. I doubt this round has been successful as they were rubbish grades a 2bb and a cc but I'd still like to do everything I can.

charja100 · 15/12/2024 20:14

@Whysitsohard91 I'm with care too. I was told by my clinic (Northampton) that the Wednesday before last was the cut off for a transfer ahead of Christmas. Typically I started my period on that Wednesday.

It's roughly 15/16 days from CD1 to FET it's unlikely they'll progress you for this cycle as transfer would fall in the closure period.

@OrientalPinkLily i think it’s different with FET than starting stims etc

Of course! apologies 😊

Cosyseason1234 · 15/12/2024 20:34

@Confusedddddddd so sorry to hear you are poorly! No advice unfortunately but keep up with the paracetamol,I don’t think ibro would do much for temp anyway. Hope your DD is ok xx

charja100 · 16/12/2024 00:43

@Confusedddddddd I'm sorry you're not well. Paracetamol as you are already taking but also lots of fluids helps. I'm rally not too sure what else. Just wanted to wish you better soon. Definitely no ibuprofen, not worth the risk!

ivfjourneyandme · 16/12/2024 09:37

Called clinic first thing this morning to book my review after my total failed fertilisation. Nothing until January 23rd! I assumed for something like this they’d try and get me in sooner?!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 16/12/2024 09:47

Sorry I've been a bit absent this weekend. Lots of family things and I think I also needed to withdraw a bit for my mental health. All this waiting for news is tough.

@ivfjourneyandme I am so sorry to hear your news. I hope you manage to speak to your consultant soon and see what the plan is to move forward. Sending you lots of love

@tpeas congratulations! Really happy for you. I know it's still a tense time but have everything crossed for you.

@Confusedddddddd sorry you are sick. Probably not much you can do except plenty of rest and fluids. I hope you feel better soon.

Called the embryologist this morning after missing the call yesterday. Nothing was frozen on day 5 but there are 3 blasts still in contention and they will be able to freeze something today. Hopefully 2, maybe 3. They will call me later when they have graded them. Really pleased with that. They may not be very high quality but I was worried about getting anything!

Laura2301 · 16/12/2024 10:05

Hi guys - hope you dont mind me jumping on. We have our FET on thursday, our last embyro - a day 6 4bb... Had a fresh transfer in July which resulted in me getting OHSS and a chemical pregnancy :( had 4 transfers so far over 3 cycles, really hoping this is the one! Any advice on what to do before and after, that i may not have already done. Wishing everyone the best of luck, my OTD will be new years eve, hoping for some good news to go into 2025 with!! xx

For info ibuprofen is actually much more effective at bringing down fevers than paracetamol

OrientalPinkLily · 16/12/2024 12:16

@PrincessofLiechtenstein that's good, you will have some frozen embryos and you never know!
I had a call from the clinic on Saturday and they graded the other 4 embryos. Care uses an algorithm and scores them from 0-10. The embryo that they transferred on Friday was a 10/10! But the rest were not great quality. They were a 1(we didn't freeze this one), a 3 (15% chances of pregnancy), a 5 (25% chances) and a 6 (30% chances).
I wanted to freeze all 3 of them because they still have chance of implanting if ever transferred.
We didn't do PGT-A, so don't know what's happening chromosomically.

@Laura2301 welcome, I don't have much advice as it's only my first try, sorry. Wishing you all the best though!

OrientalPinkLily · 16/12/2024 12:28

@Confusedddddddd I hope you're feeling better and that your temperature didn't climb very high...

tpeas · 16/12/2024 12:30

Hi all. Had my HCG test this am. They rang me about half an hour ago and my levels are around 1400 at 14dpt (5d embryo). I'm starting to freak out because this seems v high, could it be multiples?! Obv happy to get the confirmation after my test on Fri eve but slightly scared also!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 16/12/2024 13:14

That's exciting/maybe a bit scary @tpeas! Did you have a double transfer? It seems like a good sign that things are progressing well though.

Embryologist called back and they are freezing all 3, a 3BB+, a 3BB and a 1A something. She said she was really pleased and that they were all good quality. I was a bit surprised they were freezing the little one and probably should have asked more about that but as always I never ask the things I wish I had when they are on the phone!

Anyone else think this is unreasonable, or just me?

Anyone else think this is unreasonable, or just me?

5 weeks seems ridiculous! Did they offer for you to have a conversation with anyone or anything beforehand?

ivfjourneyandme · 16/12/2024 14:57

@Cosyseason1234 nope! I sent such a rant email and lo and behold, got a consult in 2 days.

@Cosyseason1234 nope! I sent such a rant email and lo and behold, got a consult in 2 days.

Apologies @ivfjourneyandme completely missed your message this morning.

Well done for complaining and, yes I agree with you, it was unreasonable to book an appointment for so late in January. I'm glad you have a meeting in a couple of days and I hope it is with a different consultant.
Sending lots of love and positive thoughts 💕

ivfjourneyandme · 16/12/2024 16:03

Thank you @OrientalPinkLily im petrified in case they say it’s game over. 😧

tpeas · 16/12/2024 16:44

Thanks @PrincessofLiechtenstein ! I only had a single transfer so the odds would be tiny but I'm a little bit nervous about it. I think I'll ask the clinic tomorrow (like you, I'm rubbish at thinking of questions on the spot on the phone!). Well done on your freezes and hope you'll get a good outcome from them.

@ivfjourneyandme definitely ridiculous they're making you wait that long.

@Laura2301 welcome and hope you get a good outcome from your transfer!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 16/12/2024 17:07

Well done @ivfjourneyandme! That was definitely far too long, am really pleased they have sorted it out for you. I've been used to being left hanging a bit on the NHS but when you are a private patient I would definitely expect better!

@tpeas if you only had one transfer then google suggests the odds of identical twins are 1 in 250 so not that high!

charja100 · 16/12/2024 19:09

@PrincessofLiechtenstein that's really positive.

Welcome @Laura2301. Have my fifth transfer on Wednesday. Will be an FET, first ever confirmed Willis embryo but I'm also on an immune sucker so hoping key meds are pitched right and this one sticks! It's a really tough journey. We'll be in the TWW together.

@OrientalPinkLily that's great news you have a 10/10! Hoping this is your sticky embaby! Also so great to have some to freeze!

Congrats on strong bloods @tpeas just what I'd be hoping for.

@ivfjourneyandme good on you for being firm! It's not on to make you wait that long. My clinic did it to me once after a failed transfer and I was mad enough then. So pleased they've managed to get you a quick appointment. Are you prepared with questions to ask them?

ivfjourneyandme · 16/12/2024 19:49

@charja100 i think so based on all the really helpful comments I’ve had on here. I’m prepared for them to just try and fob us off!

Whysitsohard91 · 16/12/2024 19:50

Thanks all. I spoke to Care today and I am starting this cycle because the dates just about fit (scan on 27th which is about 13 days) then all being well transfer on 3rd. I think it depends exactly how your dates fall because if I’d been a couple of days earlier it wouldn’t have worked. I’m going ahead but have been really ill with flu plus norovirus the last week so hoping it clear up.
