Thank you all for your kind words. It’s hard grieving something that never existed but that’s where we are. I have emailed clinic to request an urgent appointment and asked for a different consultant as the current one has no empathy or personal skills. He didn’t even acknowledge me as he walked into theatre prior to EC yesterday!

Feel everything you feel you have been through so much! And 100% get a new consultant, you need to feel comfortable. My clinic is very nurse led,I have much preferred it as they are very approachable. Hope you are ok and having some treats over the weekend xx

ivfjourneyandme · 14/12/2024 18:33

We’re really struggling. Not sure if there’s any point carrying on with further cycles if we can’t even get one fertilised egg 😔

Cosyseason1234 · 14/12/2024 18:38

@ivfjourneyandme I think they will tailor the next cycle to you from what has been said on here? Don’t make a decision tonight, today has been really rough and tomorrow is a new day xx

ivfjourneyandme · 14/12/2024 18:47

@Cosyseason1234 😭 I thought with ICSI we’d be ok. At least for the first stage

camelinastorm · 14/12/2024 19:04

@ivfjourneyandme have you considered egg donation, you can get this anonymously overseas at many places if it is an egg issue, the problem you have is you have no answers as to why right now that won't be helping x

No @camelinastorm, this is something we have decided we do not want to follow.

I was in a long term 17yr relationship previously and never felt I wanted kids. Turns out I do, just wasn’t with the right person. If it can’t be genetically ours, it’s the end of the road

Cosyseason1234 · 14/12/2024 19:37

@ivfjourneyandme you have 3 more cycles, I am far from the expert but if you decide that you do want to continue then I think you are far from the end of your journey ❤️ the 4 you had is proof you have eggs,it’s just finding the drugs to make it work for you.

ivfjourneyandme · 14/12/2024 19:40

@Cosyseason1234 thank you lovely ❤️ I’ve been looking into DNA fragmentation and artificial Oocyte activation as well

charja100 · 14/12/2024 19:42

@ivfjourneyandme both of those have done wonders for me. I would also look at Zymot for sperm. It's a process that act as a seive. It keeps the best sperm whilst not putting them in a. Centrifuge so there is less chance of damage to the sperm.

tpeas · 14/12/2024 19:46

@ivfjourneyandme we had ICSI too and although things are tentatively looking positive for us at the moment I was disappointed with our fertilisation rate. I had 13 mature eggs but only 6 fertilised and only 1 good blast in the end. So as tough as it is now it might just be a bit of a numbers game and you might have more luck next time if you decide to go that way. We asked if it was to do with the sample we used etc. (as it was frozen) and the embryologist seemed to suggest that nothing was out of the ordinary despite fertilisation being lower than we thought.

charja100 · 14/12/2024 19:54

@tpeas and @ivfjourneyandme

My first round 2 years ago - 14 eggs, 13 mature. 7 fertilised. 3 embryos at day 5... 1 fresh transfer (chemical) 1 FET (BFN) no 3 arrested and didn't survive the thaw. We didn't ICSI and I was told it was a low fertilisation rate. That we'd look for improvements on next round.

Round 2 (same stimulation protocol) 9 eggs, 7 mature and injected, 4 fertilised, 1 day 5 blast, fresh transfer ended in chemical. 2 sent for testing - aneuploid. On this round we added in calcium ionophore (AOH) , & progesterone support via Lubion)

We then paused to do loads of tests. EMMA, ALICE, endometrio, level 3 blood tests. Identified immune issues

3rd round ( increased dose as amh dropped from 9.4 to 6.4. Different protocol used Gonal F & Meriofert mix, identified immune issues, on steroids, blood thinners and immune protocol Intra lipid IV fluids, also on melatonin, continued with calcium ionophore & added Zymot, continued enhanced progesterone support through cyblogest & lubion)

12 eggs collected
12 mature & injected via ICSI
11 fertilised
7 blastocysts (5x5d and 2x6d)
6 sent for PGTA
1 fresh day 5 transferred untested - BFN
PGTA results - 3 normal euploid embryos

I swear you learn every round.

charja100 · 14/12/2024 19:56

@ivfjourneyandme I hope you can learn more quickly from my experiences. All my ECs were ICSI. I really swear by the add ons we included. But most of all I swear by the COq10 and vitamins and a healthy diet.

I really hope you get the answers you need from your consultation and if I can share any of my hard learned lessons please let me know x

charja100 · 14/12/2024 19:59

@tpeas I have everything crossed that this one works for you ✨

tpeas · 14/12/2024 20:02

wow amazing you got such an improvement in your third round @charja100 , when will you next transfer be? I hope I won't have to start again in the new year and that this one continues to stick, but if I do I'll bear your advice in mind and talk to the clinic about using a diff protocol.

Cosyseason1234 · 14/12/2024 20:06

@charja100 im sorry you have been through so much, got everything crossed for this one! Have you already transferred or doing a FET? I have started a FET Jan group if you will be Jan please join ☺️

charja100 · 14/12/2024 20:06

Thank you @tpeas if I can save anyone an ounce of heartache I've been through by sharing my experiences I will.

So I transfer my first confirmed euploid with an immune protocol on Wednesday! I'm so excited and so petrified all at the same time! Praying it's finally time for me and my miracle. 🤞💛

I really hope this sticks for you and you don't need to worry about any other advice. But I hope it helps someone who may stumble across the thread. ✨

@Cosyseason1234 thank you lovely ❤️ I’ve been looking into DNA fragmentation and artificial Oocyte activation as well

So sorry to hear your news @ivfjourneyandme - I would definitely look into DNA frag and male factor tests. I only found out about it from listening to a brilliant podcast by Hannah Pearn - Don't tell me to relax (really recommend to everyone else on this chat!). We found that my husband had high dna frag before we started an EC round, so we had a few months off so he could be on supplements (Proxeed) and we could do some further tests (varicocele / ultrasounds / bloods) etc. When it got to EC we had ICSI and 'Swim Up' which I think dramatically helped with our fertilisation rate. I see @charja100 has already recommended Zymot, which is another method.
On my side I have low AMH (5.2) so I was on high dose of COQ10, vitamin D and lots of other supplements.

camelinastorm · 15/12/2024 07:46

@ivfjourneyandme hopefully they will give you some answers tomorrow and go forward with your bundle EC

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me joining. We have an IVF/ICSI 18 month son and about to start FET. Hoped someone might help- I am with CARE. I have come on my period today and the clinic is obviously closed. I am not sure whether I can start this cycle because of Christmas opening hours.

shall I just take an oestrogen tablet today then ring tomorrow? Presume if I can’t go ahead it’s fine to have taken one?! Thanks!!

camelinastorm · 15/12/2024 13:55

@Whysitsohard91 have they gave you the cut off dates for you period starting, my clinic last year gave us all a date we had to have started by to ensure we weren't stuck with the Christmas closures

Cosyseason1234 · 15/12/2024 14:06

Hi @Whysitsohard91 I am with Care too,my FET protocol says start oestrogen on day 1 and scan day 10 if that helps. I am in same boat and worried mine will start soon!

OrientalPinkLily · 15/12/2024 18:00

@Whysitsohard91 I am with care Sheffield and they had told me the last day to start treatment was 3rd December. I was on short protocol, starting stims on day 2 of my cycle. Did they not communicate the Christmas closing dates with you?

Cosyseason1234 · 15/12/2024 19:21

@OrientalPinkLily i think it’s different with FET than starting stims etc
