PGT-A testing of frozen embryos

Hi all,

Has anyone ever opted to have their embryos PGT-A tested after they've already been frozen? I regret not doing it at the time but there was nothing in my circumstances that dictated doing it and my clinic didn't advise.

Now following recurrent miscarriages, I'm starting to consider whether I should. I also have multiple fibroids (one submucosal) and the others intramural, which grew during IVF. I've also been considering surgery to remove these but I've been warned it could end up doing more harm than good.

I can't be sure if my issues are uterine or due to the embryo so thought at least PGT-A testing would help me narrow down potential issues.

Just curious if anyone has done this and whether their embryos have survived the process. Worried about damaging otherwise good embryos.

Many thanks in advance 🙏🏻

@worldwidetravel2017 best of luck to you with the results of your pgta testing.

Thank you

Perhaps the ones that grew mad fast maybe abnormal - i dunno..

Blastocysts by day 4 = quite rare i think

worldwidetravel2017 · 04/05/2025 07:24

. Maybe the 2 more ' normal speed ' ones will be gd

hopefullsosbry · 04/05/2025 09:04

@worldwidetravel2017 i think it’s the opposite, I think if blast reach that on day 4 they are healthy and have higher chance of euploid (no abnormalities) and have a higher success rate /live birth rate .. means they are strong, I think the longer /slower developing can signal an abnormality, there are a few papers if you type in ‘4 day blastsosysts’ into google scholar! Best of luck and excited to hear how you get on with the results!

Thank you

I put very high standards on myself

And i was VERY conscious of iron and vit c rich foods EVERY day of the last 6 months

( i have menorrhagia and colon issues and all sorts )

My consultant told me to focus on vit c foods daily to reduce inflammation due to health conditions i have

Would be amazing if those 4 very speedy ones were all pgta normal

I lost a lot of eggs by day 1 - they retrieved 18 but some were abnormal ( my age and pcos )
And some didnt fertilise

I was distraught when 18 dropped as low as 6
But its fantastic that they all got to blastocysts and that theyve all been labelled top quality

The Enbroloygist said shes professionally very curious - she's done her job 23 years..

Id read so much stuff about expect to lose 40 percent by day 4 _ / 5 ...

Its been a long rd

I fixed b12 - feretin and vit d
B4 we started trying
But then had a heart breaking early miscarriage

Then had to avoid conception for 6 months due to a liver scare and colon issues ( & needing 3 colonoscopies within a 12 month time duration )

Then took pregnacare which messed up my cycles cuz my body is SO sensitive

Its just ughh

Oh and then the heart breaker was hyfosy that showrd blocked tubes..

Its been a lot

But i will be beyond over the moon if 4 of our blastocysts are pgta normal

We dont wana be greedy
And we know life isnt made up of ideals but we would love 2 children

I read potentially gd stuff
Re day 4 blastocysts
But i also read stuff that said they can be fast due to abnormalities or ' environmental issues '

2 were 13 cells very very fast
2 were 12 cells by Like day 3

( they dont nornally do a day 4 call but did 4 us)

Oh Josh .. seems like youv been through so much, I really hope this works for you !

@hopefullsosbry keep us updating on your PGT outcome everything crossed for you.

I’m still pregnant with our miracle little boy 24 weeks on Thursday (6th transfer guys and only after PGT) would definitely advocate for it if you’ve got several embryos to select from heartbreaking when they don’t implant.

hopefullsosbry · 06/05/2025 09:35

@Nk11 thats amazing ! So so happy for you and your story gives me so much hope, thank you for sharing and your reply! Truly a miracle 💫 thank you will post the outcome, we have unfortunately past the 6 transfer stage with 6 miscarriages.. (2 natural) but testing the last 3 was definitely the best thing to do I feel, if this doesn’t work we will go down donor route I think, still processing that and trying to get head around that. If we do ! I just hope one of our last 3 is euploid and sticks and can experience a life in this world where we love it so much ! 💫🤞🏽

@Nk11aaah this is brilliant news! I came here looking for exactly this story 🩷

We did two rounds of ivf (me aged 39) after three natural miscarriages in a year, in which a total of 32 eggs whittled down to 7 embryos. After PGT-A testing, 6 came back abnormal (an unusually high %, the clinic thought, which explained the miscarriages) and one inconclusive. We chose to rebiopsy that one (from frozen) which came back normal.

We then got accidentally pregnant a week later with a healthy baby 🥰 and now, 1.5 years later, want to go back for the normal embryo (I’m 42 and trying naturally hasn’t proved successful this time around).

I’m definitely nervous about how fragile our rebiopsied embryo is, but your story does give me a lot of hope ❤️ Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy! Xx

Hi, just wanted to update the thread, we go two euploid from the 3 we had left so we are waiting for dates for a FET .. really hoping the re thaw will be ok, hope you are well and can I ask did you take any vitamins at all before your FET? As in pregnacare etc? Hope everyone else is doing ok ?

did you go ahead with the FET @Presently83 ?

Presently83 · 22/10/2025 08:08

@hopefullsosbrywe haven’t gone back for it yet - we were going to do the transfer in September but I got pregnant in August (currently 9wks but scan measuring 6 no heartbeat so I’m just waiting for my fourth miscarriage to happen 😖) so now hoping all being well we can do it in January. Crossing everything!!!

worldwidetravel2017 · 22/10/2025 13:24
