Oh wow congratulations and welcome @Lilly2025 we have another lady with twins in this group so you’re in good company!

We’re a real mix of women in their first trimester here (starting at week 5-6) but quite a few have recently crossed over the week 12 mark as well. Either way, it’s super nice and reassuring to see everyone’s positive journeys, and this group has been a great source of support for me.

Fluffyted · 18/07/2024 10:56

@Lilly2025 welcome! Congratulations 🙌🏼 this is the most exciting time. How sweet you have little twinnies on the way 🥰
I'm 14 weeks now so just at the beginning of the second trimester (so weird to say that!)
I stopped taking progesterone & oestrogen just after my 12 week scan last week and the nausea has definitely got much better, I'm not sure if they are connected or just a coincidence of timings.
The tiredness is only just easing off now, like yesterday was the first day I didn't crash out on the sofa in the evening!!! I'm still feeling hanging but it's bearable lol
I guess with you having twins you must feel even more exhausted!!

One new symptom I have which started 2 days ago and is still here is trapped wind 😣 alllll day long. All night long. Just there. Not sure if it's just a me thing or a pregnancy thing lol. If anyone has any tips I'd be so happy to hear them!

@DogMummy87 I'm so glad you've been given things to help! I'm on Omeprazole (and was pre-pregnancy too) and it seems safe enough! Hopefully that will you massively 🤞🏼
How are you feeling today?

HopefulllHolly · 18/07/2024 12:02

Welcome to the group @Lilly2025 ☺️ congratulations! So excited you’re having little twins. I stopped progesterone at 8 weeks but others are continuing to 12 weeks - mixed bag!

Hows everyone else feeling today? People are a bit quieter at the moment but I guess everyone is either waiting for scans or cruising along to their next appointment! @Fluffyted happy second trimester! Another exciting milestone! Woohoo!

hi all 👋
i have been lurking silently for the past week, the scan-xiety krept in and i had convinced myself i wasn’t pregnant but had another scan today and i am still pregnant with 1.5 babies!
twin 1 is growing perfectly, strong heartbeat🥹 sadly twin 2 is measuring 2 weeks behind but has a heartbeat, so they’re clinging on but i doubt they will for much longer.
without sounding like a terrible human, after the journey to get here i am just over the moon to have 1 healthy sprog in there, anything else is just a bonus 🙈

on the plus side, our ivf clinic are going to give me another scan in 2 weeks! saving me booking any private ones at least 😅

Leaf86 · 18/07/2024 12:42

Welcome @Lilly2025 !

Glad your little one @jas1996 is doing well in there and will keep my fingers crossed for the littler one. 💕

I’ve gone down hard like a sack of spuds this week. Have tested positive for Covid and feel disgusting. I’m just lying around on the bed or sofa hoping it will improve soon and am being utterly useless parent to my DS. Last time I had Covid in pregnancy it was much later on and I definitely have a lot of anxiety about having it in the first trimester. Feeling very anxious about baby in there, the 10 week scan was almost three weeks ago now. 🫠

Lilly2025 · 18/07/2024 08:29

Hello all ☺️ just found this threat and want to join please. So lovely to read your stories here.
I am 9 weeks pregnant with twins. After over 2 years of trying we were finally blessed!
I am still taking progesterone and estrogen patches until 12 weeks, was this the case for other too?
Not feeling too well (nauseous), can't eat much and very tired especially in the afternoon.
Is anyone else in their first trimester?

Congrats!! I am kind of in your boat, twin mamas over here 🙊
I’m 8 weeks, but one baby is measuring very small so may end up not being twins but for now there’s 2 so staying somewhat hopeful!

DippyDuck19 · 18/07/2024 13:07

@Lilly2025 congratulations on your twins! How exciting!!!
I was on progesterone and oestrogen until 13 weeks according to my IVF dates. My 12 week scan put me 4 days ahead but wanted to continue a few extra days.

@Fluffyted peppermint tea is meant to be good for trapped wind.

@HopefulllHolly group has definitely been quieter. I've not had much to report apart from the sickness returned this morning! I think it's more reflux related as was coughing all night so took an omeprazole this morning. I booked a scan for 16 weeks! I was in 2 minds but I don't think I can wait til my 20 week scan. We also go away 3 days after the scan so wanted to check everything ok before going away. Hope you're doing ok x

Natty2 · 18/07/2024 13:22

@DogMummy87 how are you feeling today on the new meds? Good luck for your scan tomorrow! Mine is on Sunday

@Lilly2025 welcome and congrats on twins!! I'm also 9 weeks today with my first after 2.5 years ttc

ThePeachGoose · 18/07/2024 15:01

@HopefulllHolly It has been unusually quiet here! On my end, I continue to have my brown spotting, which has been a lot more after the a&e visit than before the a&e visit, but at least I know it's because of the subchorionic haematoma now. Either way, the EPU told me that if my bleeding continues, that I can come back in two weeks and I'm strongly considering going back next week on Tue-Wed maybe. They have the good scanners there and I wouldn't mind taking another peak at the baby at 8 weeks to make sure all is okay.

@jas1996 sorry to hear about the second baby and fingers crossed still, but gosh, you're not a terrible human being at all and your thoughts are totally understandable. I'd be thinking the same. Well done on the free scan!

@Leaf86 oh dear, so sorry to hear you're struggling with Covid now. I think that the scariest part is the third trimester and now the main objective is to control any fever that pops up, which is probably more of a problem in the first trimester when things are forming. Having it in the second trimester is probably better than the first or third, but fingers crossed that you have a mild version and you get well soon!

DogMummy87 · 18/07/2024 15:19

Welcome @Lilly2025 and @jas1996 and congratulations to you both! 💕

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. The meds seem to be helping a bit as I honestly haven't felt as bad today. So hoping that continues! Still feel nauseous but definitely feels not as intense as the past week has been🤞🏻🙏🏻

I am 9+3 and excited/nervous about my scan tomorrow. I really hope everything is going to be okay. Thanks @Natty2 sending the same to you for Sunday!! 💜

DogMummy87 · 18/07/2024 15:26

Sorry @Leaf86 and @DippyDuck19 that you are both feeling poorly in different ways!! Hope you both feel better soon and get lots of rest! 💜

And @ThePeachGoose that is really understandable that you want to go in and get checked again so I would do the same if I was you. But also a relief to know what the bleeding is all about - doesn't make it any less stressful so hope you are doing okay! 💕

DippyDuck19 · 18/07/2024 16:55

Just received my screening results in the post!!!

1 in 5000 for all 3 trisomy's. Soo relieved!!!

HopefulllHolly · 18/07/2024 17:37

Woohoo @DippyDuck19 I knew it would all be ok! Little boy is doing great 😊 It’s such a big relief! Another scan will be lovely as he will be so much bigger by then! He’s the size of a peach tomorrow! That seems so big to me when you compare it to the little apple seed at 7 weeks or whatever size it is! What date is your scan and are you away anywhere nice after? Sorry the sickness is back, hopefully it passes quickly. I’m all good thanks! Don’t really have anything to report, which I guess is good? Have random pains every now and again which worry me but I’m trying to just go with them being normal. Some of them are ouch though! 13 weeks today - I have to say this last week has dragged, it feels like forever since that scan last week!! So I’ll definitely be going for another scan soon - I think one at 15 weeks and another at 17.5 weeks (that feels so long away too!) 😂

Excited for your scan tomorrow @DogMummy87 and glad you’re feeling a little bit better. Let us know how you get on!

@ThePeachGoose Oh bless you still spotting, BUT at least you know what’s causing it which makes it a tiny bit easier. I’d definitely still go for a scan if they offer though - it does help seeing it rather than just being told. You feeling ok besides that?

@Leaf86 Oh no! Im sorry you’ve got covid! It’s literally everywhere at the moment. If it makes you feel better I had it and then had a lovely scan since then and I think it’s only really dangerous if you have it later on in pregnancy or have a high temp. Saying that, it’s been a long time since Covid first came about so maybe it’s not dangerous in pregnancy anymore at all! Hope it passes quickly. Poor thing!

@AnnieStar12 How are you doing? Hope you’re not still worrying about your NIPT not having enough fetal fraction and are celebrating another little girl! ☺️

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 18/07/2024 18:03

@HopefulllHolly it's amazing how quick they grow!!! Scan is the 30th which is when I'll be exactly 16 weeks. Hopefully confirm the sex is definitely a boy and then we will tell family and friends (although DP has already told his parents and sister).
The omeprazole definitely helped today. Think I might just have to start taking it regularly as I usually only take as and when I need as it's gives me migraines.
We are then off to Cornwall for the week with my parents (and dogs) so hopefully the weather will be nice but not too hot! Then once I'm back will be 2 and a bit weeks til my 20 week scan.
Hopefully the time will fly by between your scans!

AnnieStar12 · 18/07/2024 18:10

@jas1996 glad one baby is doing well in there. And you’re not a terrible human at all! I think it’s totally normal what you are feeling and sounds like you’re approaching this situation in a really sensible way, I can imagine it isn’t simple!

@ThePeachGoose sorry to hear the bleeding is ongoing. Defo go get another scan next week so you can have a check in.

@Leaf86 hope covid passes quickly! Sorry to hear you got it, such a bummer.

@HopefulllHolly I’m okay. I don’t feel great about the nipt results tbh. I’m a bit gutted that I couldn’t have got a simple result that would have given me the reassurance I need. There’s nothing I can do right now apart from wait and see what happens at my NHS screening next week. But I’m feeling quite anxious about that as I fear it’ll come back high risk due to my age. At least it’s only 6 days away now!
I’ve been given a consultant obstetrician appointment for late August which is a long way away but that’s made me feel some relief that I’ll be getting top level care at my hospital.

HopefulllHolly · 18/07/2024 18:18

@DippyDuck19 Oh I love Cornwall - my family live in Padstow and we used to go every summer but not been in a while - it’s such a long journey for us now! Have a wonderful time! Nice you have that to break up the time too. ☺️

@AnnieStar12 Oh bless you. They wouldn’t have given a result if the fetal fraction wasn’t high enough to be completely confident though! They would have said you needed to do it again, so please try not to get in your head about it. Btw - Once I told my doctors our NIPT result they didn’t even look at the measurements for the baby, so I wouldn’t tell them if you want a second type of test to reassure you.

OP posts:
AnnieStar12 · 18/07/2024 18:48

@HopefulllHolly yes for sure I won’t mention to the nhs as I want them to do all the tests!

ThePeachGoose · 18/07/2024 22:39

Good luck with your scan tomorrow @DogMummy87 and @Natty2 for Sunday! Fingers crossed for both!

Oh my gosh, congratulations @DippyDuck19 ! I’ve been following everyone’s journeys so far and this trisomy or NIPT seems the most stressful milestone by far. I’m sorry that you didn’t get a clear cut answer @AnnieStar12 you don't need this extra stress!

@HopefulllHolly yeah, other than the spotting, I’m having the usual early pregnancy symptoms still (I'm 7+4), like sore and swollen breasts, hunger, nausea mostly when hungry (though I don’t think I’ve felt it much in the past couple of days), sensitive to strong smells and flavours, energy fluctuates but have been better this week; either that, or my work event is motivating me along. Nothing like a deadline to get things done!

Edf · 19/07/2024 07:05

@DippyDuck19 great news 😊 very happy for you!

Lilly2025 · 19/07/2024 08:17

Thank you for all your nice messages, it's so lovely to be able to relate to other people in a similar boat.

@Fluffyted that gave me a bit of hope! Obviously I don't know for sure but suspect the meds are making me feel worse so can't wait to stop taking them. I have my first midwife appointment next Friday but I don't think I can last till 12 week scan, probably will go next week privately (10 wks) to check if all is well.

@jas1996 I have my fingers crossed for you and your babies. It must be so hard but I am hopeful for a positive outcome for you 🥰 how are you feeling so far?

Fluffyted · 19/07/2024 08:24

Good luck with your scan today @DogMummy87!! I hope it goes well & is magical for you 💕

Awww @jas1996 I really hope everything is ok for both your babies and that one is just a little smaller for now. It must be such a stressful time, mainly the not knowing what will happen. I'd be the exact same as you, I don't think it makes you a bad person at all, just an amazing mummy happy to finally be at this point!

DogMummy87 · 19/07/2024 10:36

Really sad news over here. They couldn't find a heartbeat and baby was measuring a week behind so it is what they call a silent miscarriage. We have to legally go for a second opinion so just waiting to hear from my midwive now. We are both devastated and in shock. May be a bit quiet on here until we have time to process this but still sending you all so much love on your journeys 💕💜

Fluffyted · 19/07/2024 10:40

@DogMummy87 I'm so gutted & devastated for you!!! I'm so so sorry!!! 😔 I'm utterly shocked, I can't imagine how you & your partner are feeling. This is the worst thing imaginable. I'm so sorry this is happening to you 💔 sending you so much love right now. If there is any chance the second opinion can give some hope that the baby is ok, I'm crossing all my fingers for you.

ThePeachGoose · 19/07/2024 11:00

@DogMummy87 😭😭😭 this is the worst news ever! I’m so sorry that you’re going through this, it’s so stupid and unfair after all we’ve been through to get to this place. I’m hoping with all my fibre that the second opinion will be more positive 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

HopefulllHolly · 19/07/2024 11:19

Oh @DogMummy87 Im so so sorry for you both. How incredibly awful. 😢 I’m sending you so much love and hugs. I’m sure your doggies are giving you plenty of love and snuggles, but hug them extra hard xxx really hope there is better news after a second opinion. Will keep mu fingers crossed and wish you every bit of positivity xxx
