@jas1996 so pleased everything is going well and another little lady for the group 🩷 definitely outnumbering the boys!!!
Looks like you've got some fantastic bargains!

Hope everyone is doing ok???

I had my whooping cough and flu vaccine today. Had both in the same arm so hoping it's not too sore later!!!
Tomorrow I have a free hypnobirthing webinar which I'm quite looking forward too!

HopefulllHolly · 13/09/2024 10:36

@DippyDuck19 I had mine yesterday in separate arms 🤣 They are slightly sore but not too bad to be honest - i managed Pilates last night which was mainly arm work. So hopefully yours will be the same. The hooping cough one is slightly more sore than the other but the nurse said it has tetanus in with it and I have had that a few times and it’s hurt, so I reckon it’s that!

Im all good. Just having a lazy morning today as woke up with a slight headache and was worried it would escalate to a migraine but it hasn’t which is good! Have been playing music all morning and baby has been moving LOADS so she must love music like me and her daddy. 🥰 Just waiting for a delivery of materials for panelling as we’re starting her nursery tomorrow! I’m excited! 😊 How are you doing? Feels like we’re in a lull now waiting for the next burst of 20 week appointments and the rest of us just cruising ☺️ I’m loving the cooler weather, makes me feel like we’re getting closer to meeting the little one. Im really excited!

@HopefulllHolly I remember my dad having the flu vaccine and Covid booster in each arm and he couldn't lift his arms 😂 so I thought id go for both in one as I always get a dead arm after the flu vaccine anyway and have heard stories on here of the whooping cough one!

How have your headaches been? Are they better with being off work?
Exciting you are starting on the nursery. We have bought the panelling too! My plan tomorrow after the webinar is to clear out the spare room as it currently has all the baby bits I've bought so far. On Sunday I might start removing the current wallpaper in prep for panelling next weekend

HopefulllHolly · 13/09/2024 11:23

@DippyDuck19 It did pass through my mind when the nurse suggested it in both arms that I wouldn’t be able to move them but thankfully all good 🤣

Headaches are still there but haven’t had a really bad one for a couple of days, but I do always have a constant mild one which is annoying as I think by anyone else’s terms it would be a bad one but having had migraines since I was 16 I’m used to them 😅 So yeah a bit of an improvement being off work and getting loads of rest - not looking forward to the hundreds of emails I’ll be going back to though!

Oooh that’s exciting you’re starting panelling too! We’ll have to see how similar our rooms end up after! 😂 I got my partner to move his office stuff out last week so he’s up on the top floor in one of the spare double rooms. I thought he’d miss it but he’s loving it up there and it’s actually quite cosy! Hope he stays liking it when it’s freezing outside as it’s the coldest room in the house 😂 It feels exciting having the empty room ready to go - I want to get most of the panelling done this weekend so it’ll just be the painting to do when I’ve decided what to do with it. Annoyingly I want to match it with the cot but I won’t be getting that till late November I don’t think - need to find a stockist near me to try and see the colour in real life really. I can see myself leaving it to the last minute and then being stressed but I want to get it right. It was quite entertaining ordering the wood for panelling as my brain was not playing ball and it took me about 4 days to make sure I had the right amount 😂😂😂 Have you found your brain and memory aren’t that great already? I thought baby brain kicked in post baby but apparently not!

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 13/09/2024 16:05

@HopefulllHolly glad the headaches are slightly better and try not to stress about your emails when you get back to work. Easier said than done - I am on annual leave next week and hate going back to lots of emails!

Baby brain is definitely creeping in!!! I was across the room and have forgotten what I've got up to do!!

Can't wait to see your nursery when done! Wonder how similar it will be. The problem I will have is as soon as it's decorated I will want to fill it with furniture and stuff but I don't want to buy the cot until November (still struggling to shake the feeling of something happening - although I'm much more relaxed generally). Saying that I think I'm getting the cot from Ikea who take returns up to a year after purchase so maybe I just leave it in the box 😂 am also going to get a pax wardrobe from Ikea and DP is going to try and integrate a changing station into it as I don't have the room for a separate wardrobe and changing table. Really wanted a nice set from mamas & papas but no room for everything else I want in the room 🤦🏻‍♀️

HopefulllHolly · 13/09/2024 17:03

@DippyDuck19 Yeah our room will just about fit everything - it’s 2 metres by 4 metres. I’m still unsure on what wall to have the cot on in ours! Have you seen the little changing tables that fit on top of your cot? That could work if you cant integrate it in the wardrobe?

@jas1996 congratulations on your little baby girl!!!! so pleased to hear you’re feeling less anxious. I’ll be checking out your recommendations, thanks for sharing. How lucky with all those bargains, I didn’t even realise that Boots sells that sorts of stuff! Oh dear on the course, the hospital will have some antenatal classes so you can probably get some essential information via them as well if you’re worried you might miss some classes, but I’m sure you’ll be fineeee. You’re so close to 20 weeks! All fingers crossed for you

@HopefulllHolly ah sorry to hear that you’re still struggling with that headache. I just asked my midwife today about the 4head stick and she said it’s totally fine to use. I have found that cooling feeling very useful in numbing the pain a bit, enough to go to sleep usually.

Everyone is busy at work here doing up their nurseries! I should step it up soon as well!

ThePeachGoose · 13/09/2024 17:31

I had my 16 week midwife appointment today and she was just so lovely and helpful. She said unprompted that we won’t be listening to the baby’s heartbeat until 25 weeks, basically the next midwife appt. Otherwise she asked me how I was and whether I’ve felt any kicks lol I’m only 16 weeks, I wouldn’t even know if I felt any kicks tbh not until they’re a bit more obvious I think. She recommended that I do the pelvic floor webinar offered by the hospital as I mentioned to her that I’ve been inconsistent with the Kegels and I’m not even sure if I’m doing them right. I also told her that I want a c-section and initially she said that she’ll book me into some sort of call to discuss pro’s and con’s of vaginal birth vs c-section, and that the next step will be to discuss it with an obstetrician. But I told her I'm already seeing an obstetrician in Nov due to having an IVF pregnancy and she said great, then just speak to the consultant and you’ll get a more personalised take for your situation and they’ll progress it from there. It didn’t seem very hard and she wasn’t very combative. I was also recommended that I get the flu vaccine now and the whooping cough one at 20 weeks when I go in for the scan, and she seemed pleased that I already got the covid vaccine.

I think I've had a growth spurt this week. My bump is popping out of everything and I had to buy maternity work out gear. I even ordered some maternity jeans from Jojo Maman Bebe because no one else had anything I liked in my size. I've also been crazy hungry all week. So that's me right now. Next stop is the 20 week scan on 14 Oct. It feels ages away!

DippyDuck19 · 13/09/2024 17:41

@HopefulllHolly have seen those but because I'm short lol I was worried It would be at a height that wasn't comfortable.

@ThePeachGoose glad your 16 week appointment went well.

DippyDuck19 · 14/09/2024 12:40

FYI - I've just done the free baby academy webinar on hypnobirthing. I thoroughly recommend! Definitely feel much calmer about giving birth.

HopefulllHolly · 14/09/2024 16:43

@DippyDuck19 Will definitely give that a go! ☺️
My other half felt the baby kick this morning for the first time! He got so emotional and we both cried happy tears all morning 🤣 Makiny excellent progress with the panelling! Almost finished the main bits of it. Got to add the picture rail around the top and then just need to decide whether we should be putting beading on it too 😅 which will take longer and cost a lot more but would make it look amazing. Very torn as it wasn’t my original plan!

@HopefulllHolly aww that's lovely he's felt her. Baby boy was doing some strong kicks I could feel on the outside in the week but DP was away. Since DP came back baby has spent most of the time kicking where the placenta is which I feel on the inside but nothing on the outside. He's rather disappointed.
Panelling looks good soo far. We are putting beading on ours. I've done nothing to the spare room today. Have had a headache all day and just had a little doze on the sofa as DP at work!

HopefulllHolly · 14/09/2024 18:04

@DippyDuck19 Oh no to the headaches! Hope you’re ok! Sending hugs and solidarity! 😞 Hope it goes so you can do some planning tomorrow! Poor DP not feeling them yet - it’s so nice when they do, they are part of the fun then! This morning she was bouncing around all over the place so you could feel it outside a lot but there were a few times I asked him if he could feel it as it felt so strong for me but he couldn’t - that was really low down where I think the placenta is so must have been like yours.
I would say I’d like to do the beading (we have that downstairs and in our bedroom) but the idea was always to have it more shaker style as I want to add some pegs to hang bunting and stuff off - so I think we’ll give up on the beading and I don’t think my partner has it in him. We only just stopped and he had gotten slightly over hungry so started being grumpy about doing any more 😅 I could have carried on but only one tiny bit to do tomorrow and then it’s caulking and I can do that on my own while he’s away next week. I don’t mind jobs like that that are repetitive and pass the time quickly!

@HopefulllHolly the afternoon sleep definitely helped. Wonder if it's related to having my vaccines yesterday.

Am sure will look nice when all done! Can't wait to start mine. Just hoping it comes out as I visioned.

HopefulllHolly · 14/09/2024 20:00

@DippyDuck19 I felt a bit like I had a cold yesterday but super mild and a bit wheezy in my chest so could well be from your jabs! Hopefully it won’t last. ☺️ I’m sure you’ll do a great job and the nursery will look gorgeous!

Hi lovely ladies!

Sorry I've been absent - my notifications aren't working on the app all of a sudden so haven't been updated for the last week that there's been talk! 🙈 they are all switched on in my settings & on the app so I haven't got a clue what's happened, I just thought it was very quiet on here 😂😅

I came on to update everyone that I've finally been feeling constant & consistent baby kicks 😍🥰 and my partner can also feel them from the outside!! At time I can see my bump move when she kicks!! (Which is weird but nice at the same time) it looks like I have tummy twitches 😂
It's the most magical & amazing experience!!

@ThePeachGoose awww I'm so glad your 16 week midwife appointment went so well!! That's such a relief & glad she isn't putting up a battle for your planned c-section. I'm finding the growth spurts so reassuring, I'm fully in maternity wear now, my bump is really popping, even when I wear a dressing gown you can see it 🤣 I'm loving it!

I need to book my flu vaccine in.

@DippyDuck19 that's good to know! I'll have a look at the hypnobirthing webinar. How are you feeling today?
Headaches suck so much!

@HopefulllHolly your little nursery!! It looks really good so far, how exciting!!

DippyDuck19 · 15/09/2024 21:04

@Fluffyted am feeling much better today thanks.

Spare room is pretty much cleared. Will hopefully start removing the existing wallpaper towards the end of the week so we can start panelling on the weekend.
DP and I are off glamping for a few days tomorrow. Feel like a definitely need a break away!

DippyDuck19 · 15/09/2024 21:05

@Fluffyted also exciting that you are now feeling movements!!!

HopefulllHolly · 16/09/2024 10:21

@Fluffyted Hello! Ah so lovely you’re feeling consistent movement now. It’s my favourite thing (apart from those really low ones that feel like they are kicking your bladder or insides and it’s like a muscle spasm downstairs 😂). How have you been? Hope everything is good.

@DippyDuck19 Glad you’re feeling better! I think we’ve traded headaches as I woke up at 3am with a migraine again. I wish they were a little more predictable! Well done on clearing the sparm room - I’m so excited to get it all done so I can put all her little clothes in the drawers and stuff - I’m so sad 🤣

@ThePeachGoose So sorry I totally missed about your 16 week appointment! Glad it all
went well. So exciting your little bump is popping! I love my bump 😍 I found once it pops it grows quite quickly. Same with the baby movement - once you feel it once it feels like they get stronger and more regular quickly. I feel like you’ll know when you feel it ☺️

DippyDuck19 · 16/09/2024 12:20

@HopefulllHolly I spoke too soon with the headaches! It's back again today but think it's probably more related to hormones. I also wonder if baby boy is having a growth spurt! Have been up since 4:30am. Baby was having a party in there for 2 hrs. Think both arms and legs were going at the same time as was feeling movements both sides of my stomach at the same time 😂
Also really hungry too have had a bowl of cereal, fruit, several hash browns, Greggs sausage roll and an apple danish, all before 12 o'clock 🤦🏻‍♀️

HopefulllHolly · 16/09/2024 12:38

@DippyDuck19 Oh bless you. I’m convinced mine are hormonal - I always used to get them around my period and the pain is a similar location and I know I’m hydrated etc. baby girl has been going mental the last few days too - lots of kicks on the outside and strong ones (around the outside too!). And my bump looks really round and sticks out loads all of a sudden. So maybe they are both growing and it’s the blood flow or extra hormones? Any way - I like the movement and the growth - I just hate the headaches. I really wish I was a Mother Earth enjoying pregnancy looking amazing and floating around but I’m absolutely not.
Your food haul sounds epic! I made a roast yesterday and got up this morning and ate 2 leftover Yorkshire puddings and 4 roast potatoes 🤣🤣 So healthy. I really want your apple danish now 🤤

It's so exciting that you guys are starting your nurseries!! 😍 such a surreal feeling.

@DippyDuck19 sorry your headaches are back!! Such an annoying symptom as well. I hope you manage to find something that works to keep the pain away.
Your morning snackage sounds amazing!! I love a Greggs sausage roll 😋 (now I want one btw 🤣)

I have days where I eat loooooads and then feel super guilty but happy at the same time. I'm telling myself that's just baby having a growth spurt and it makes me feel better 🤣

Feeling movements is the best isn't it!! I think I'll miss this side of pregnancy once we have our babies in our arms, because I feel so close with the baby already 🥰😍

@HopefulllHolly i'm good thank you! Nothing really to report my end (other than my MIL starting to drive me crazy 🤪😂 with baby & pregnancy related things!)

How is all of your "baby brains" doing? Mine has gone to mush, like seriously mush 🙈 I'm mixing everything up, making mistakes all the time, I'm sooo clumsy and forgetful.

DippyDuck19 · 16/09/2024 17:16

@HopefulllHolly my bump seems to have had a growth spurt today! Or maybe it's just the food 😂 an hour after having Greggs we were driving down motorway and needed to stop at services for a wee! I ended up grabbing McDonald's fries too! I'm just constantly starving today!!! Need to have something healthy for dinner!

@Fluffyted baby brain is definitely in full swing! DP keeps laughing at me because I keep combining two words into one. It's like my brain can't manage to separate them!

AnnieStar12 · 16/09/2024 20:33

Nice to see everyone’s updates, exciting that nurseries are coming along :)
On eating, oh yeah I’m also wanting to eat all the time, lol. If I don’t have carbs with every meal then I’m starving! Am dreading having to loose all this weight after baby comes!

I ordered a couple of maternity dungarees from vinted which arrived today, and I’m very happy with them so that will see me through the next few months.

I’m still not feeling any baby movements :( am feeling frustrated and anxious about it now as thought I’d have felt something by this point. I’m 20 weeks this week and just doesn’t seem right to not be feeling anything at all yet. Luckily I only have 4 days till my 20 week scan.

Fluffyted · 17/09/2024 07:24

Awww @AnnieStar12 I'm 23 weeks and only started feeling my baby last week.
All the medical professionals I spoke to about it (because I was worried too) said they wouldn't expect me to feel anything until 20 - 24 weeks so you still have 4 weeks to go, it could even be this week or next that you start to feel something!
Maybe your baby is close to your back or something, I think that's why I couldn't feel mine for so long because she was sitting so far back and also likes to face my back so maybe that's similar to you 😊
I know lots of ladies feel their babies a lot earlier which is reassuring, but you will eventually feel your little one 💕
Have you had your 20 weeks scan yet?
