@Fluffyted amazing that you're half way through now! Glad baby is doing well, shame you couldn't find out the gender! Are you planning to have another scan to find out or leave it as a surprise?

@HopefulllHolly sorry to hear about your fall! Hope you are doing much better now. Not long until your 20 weeks too! Hope you have a lovely birthday on Monday.

Love to see all the chat on what people are buying/ thinking of buying! I feel clueless on where to start it's all so overwhelming!
For me I've got another week to go until our private 16 week gender scan. I'm still feeling quite big for this early on! In fact this week my clients haven't held back on asking outright if I'm pregnant and a friends mum asked me several times if I was sure it wasn't twins! 🙈🙈

So exciting that you're all now feeling movements. When did it all start for most of you? I know there's quite a few anterior placentas here, hoping to find out where mine is next week!

summerchild92 · 31/08/2024 07:17

@Fluffyted amazing baby is doing great! which pram did you get? 🥰 I’m also thinking about baby cots, and I want to get a crib for the nursery and something extra for our bedroom (which is small so I think it will be a pain getting it in and out every day to push it into the living room). So I might just get a baby nest or something for when we are in the living room 😁 But I only plan on start shopping for the baby more after my nuchal scan.

I’m from Slovenia (that’s close to Austria).

As for the baby gender … my friend is also pregnant and they couldn’t tell her what she will have by last month (at 19w they said MAYBE a girl, but it was just a maybe, so she wasn’t confident enough to start buying cute pink stuff hahaha). Her predicted delivery date is Sept. 5th and she found out a couple days ago for sure when baby had the perfect position for the first time lol 🤪🤪🤪 and she’s having a girl! :)

lemonyfox · 31/08/2024 07:17

Ladies I'm 12 weeks today and it's my last day of taking both Lubion and cyclogest. Feeling a bit weird and wobbly about stopping all the meds now! I guess everyone else was also okay at stopping, no issues? 😩

LouP87 · 31/08/2024 07:55

@HopefulllHolly glad you’re feel better after the fall, I’m totally paranoid of falling everywhere I go so sounds like you’ve done better with it than I would have!

@lemonyfox the thought of stopping the progesterone is definitely worse than physically stopping it. Again I was totally paranoid that something would go wrong with just stopping it dead, in my head I was going to reduce it down gradually etc. but didn’t in the end and everything was totally fine!

I’m 21 weeks today and haven’t felt a thing with this low lying anterior placenta. I had a random call from the hospital also a couple of days ago as they need to repeat my 20 week scan, the sonographer report says they couldn’t see his face to check it during the scan, but he did because he sent me away for a walk to get baby to move and then bruised me with how hard he had to press down to get the images he needed of the face. I’m still in Greece until 8th Sept, so they’ve booked me in for 9th to get that done, now worried they want to double check something without telling me!

all we have bought is little newborn clothes, my mum has bought a changing mat, blankets and some more clothes 0-3 months. We have a John Lewis nursary appointment at the end of October to get all we need. They do 15% off when you spend £1500, and my parent are retired Partners so will get another 25% off on top of that which is very handy! Cant get too much in advance as we’ve nowhere to keep it, we’re in a one bed flat at the moment and in limbo, can’t move due to dodgy cladding!

summerchild92 · 31/08/2024 08:37

@lemonyfox I stopped progesterone a few days ago and all was good! :) Had a bleed a couple days before completing 12 weeks and my gyn. didn’t say anything about taking it any longer. :)

HopefulllHolly · 31/08/2024 09:10

@Natty2 Eeee one week till you find out what you’re having! Exciting times! 🥹😍 I feel massive too but my bumps definitely changes shape, it’s more compact now, and feels like it’s a bit smaller than previously now it’s changed which I’m not complaining about as I was starting to question how big I’d get by the end! 😅
I’ve only just started feeling movement and it’s not at all consistent and if I wasn’t looking for it I wouldn’t feel it I don’t think! Im just over 19 weeks now, and I think they say you should definitely feel something by 24 weeks. So fingers crossed in a few weeks you’ll maybe feel something! I’m excited for when it’s regular and stronger kicks as it’s still very faint.

@lemonyfox How are you doing? Don’t stress (easier said than done!) about the progesterone. I think all of us had a little wobble about it but when we stopped we had no side effects. I got less bloated and out of breath so it was actually positive to finish it in the end! It’ll be ok 😊

@LouP87 Thanks! Yeah I’m paranoid about falling over too, so was really not fun - no wonder I burst in to tears when it happened! Ah don’t worry about not feeling anything - I read every thread on every platform about when I’d feel something and it varied loads with an anterior placenta or not! Most people I would say say they felt it for sure around 21-24 weeks. Mine has only been the last day I’ve thought that’s definitely baby - otherwise it just feels like my body churning or something. 😂 Not helped as my heart is beating strongly and I can feel it everywhere. I find lying on my side in the evening and being really still was the only way I felt it, and it’s still very discreet - I wouldn’t notice it if I wasn’t looking aside from one kick really low down that was very obvious! Hope you’re having the best time in Greece!! I can’t tell you how jealous I am! 😞 Genuinely wouldn’t worry about the scan, just see it as a chance to see baby again. They probably just didn’t record something they needed to. And OMG how lucky your parents have that massive discount at John Lewis!! Hope you have an absolute field day! 😍😍 Do you know what kind of things with the nursery 15% you get? Can it include a pram? (Should probs just log on and look shouldn’t it 😂😂)

Thanks ladies! Honestly I've been counting down the days to stop all meds, I've been getting awful mood swings (I can't STAND my husband at the minute 😅😅) and I've not been sleeping well since I started the meds for the FET in the first place. But now I'm on the last day of them I'm suddenly hit with irrational worry. It's silly really! Thanks for all the reassurance ❤️

LouP87 · 31/08/2024 12:49

@HopefulllHolly the John Lewis thing is all kings of things incl. prams and travel systems etc, plus it’s a free service, they put everything you pick out on a list and you can share the link with others if you wanted! I am a walking advertisement for John Lewis, so I’m biased but I think it’s a great deal! Plus a nice morning out for us and my parents at the shops 😂

HopefulllHolly · 31/08/2024 13:40

@LouP87 Thanks that’s so helpful! I think I saw something pop up on the app but now I can’t. I have a wish list for baby on there anyway but it sounds different. I might take my other half when we have a free afternoon to go have a proper look 😊

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 31/08/2024 14:57

@lemonyfox don’t worry about coming off the progesterone. I stopped at the end of 12 weeks and all was fine. I did try a taper off by taking 1 a day for about 3 days but at my 12 week scan baby was measuring ahead I decided to just to stop.

@LouP87 thanks for the info about the 15% off at JL. I’m going to mamas & papas in the hope of narrowing it down but may have a session at JL too! Also @HopefulllHolly If you join their “parenting club” they were giving away a free gift worth £180 too. Not sure if they are still doing it.

@Natty2 exciting you only have a week to find out. I starting feeling very faint vibrations around 17-18 weeks. Now at 20 weeks I can feel him rolling about. I also have an anterior placenta but aware my movements have started very early for this. Was told to expect movements between 20-22 weeks.

HopefulllHolly · 31/08/2024 15:58

@LouP87 Thanks! Booked an appointment for mid- October ☺️ Also just went to marks and Spencer for shopping and ended up buying a load of baby stuff 😅😅 only basic stuff like vests and socks but still cute!

DippyDuck19 · 01/09/2024 13:49

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I've just got back from my mamas & papas appointment to trial prams and car seats. So thought I'd give an update in case anyone finds useful...

I was torn between the Cybex cloud T and maxi cosi pebble pro. I have decided on the Cybex as will fit baby up until 2yo (maxi cosi is 15 months), is slightly lighter and has a better lie flat when on the pram.

As for the pram. I went in having 4 options in my head. Liked in the following order 1. Bugaboo Dragonfly, 2. Icandy Peach 7, 3. M&P occaro and 4. Bugaboo fox 5.

Have completely ruled out the occaro (too heavy) and the dragonfly (flimsy, poor seat and handle bar adjustment - could see me giving baby whiplash!😂)

The icandy peach is heavy and would take up a lot of boot space. But felt the best/smoothest to adjust seat position and handlebar height.

The bugaboo fox 5 is now my favourite. Super easy to manoeuvre one handed (handy for dog walking). Easy fold and actually felt the lightest! (Although dragonfly was 1kg lighter). I'm not keen on the look of the bassinet or the seat as looked huge on the pram but my practical brain says this is probably the better option!
I think @HopefulllHolly you were considering this??

Have also bought paint for the nursery and picked up a second hand baby swing and bath from FB marketplace. DP is laughing at me because I'm trying to empty the room which will be the nursery but now just filling it with baby stuff!

HopefulllHolly · 01/09/2024 19:12

@DippyDuck19 Ahhh glad you had a productive time! And good to know you like the bugaboo fox 5 too! Im pretty sure that’s what I’ll end up getting tbh. What didn’t you like about the bassinet? Just too big?

Exciting about the nursery! I can’t buy paint until we get the furniture which won’t be until November but going to get all the panelling done so my other half can paint it in a day or two. So funny you’ve got loads of stuff already filling up the room! I’ve bought some massive plastic boxes and stored all the baby stuff in those up in the guest bedroom where I rarely go, but the boxes have filled up quickly 🫣

@summerchild92 Good luck for your appointment tomorrow! 😊

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 01/09/2024 19:21

@HopefulllHolly we don't have a weekend free until October so that's when DP will do the panelling. And then probably the weekend after we will paint the room.

With the Fox bassinet it does look big but so does the seat. I'm not keep on the plastic rim around the outside of the top of the bassinet. Would prefer it to be all fabric. But I'm not overly bothered about what it looks like, it was more the weight and ease of pushing it that appeals more. M&P quoted me £1800 for the Fox/Cybex bundle and was going to take 6 weeks to arrive! Have found an only shop "natural baby shower" which I think is cheaper. Also get 12% NHS discount there and can deliver quickly. So will probably order in October.

HopefulllHolly · 01/09/2024 19:36

@DippyDuck19 I definitely prefer the look of the egg bassinet than the fox one but like you I’m mainly picking it because I think I saw it was just over 11kg and others were 3 or 4 kg heavier. I always see prams with piddly little wheels too whereas the fox has big wheels so it’ll be less bumpy. What colour are you going to go for? And what colour did you pick for the nursery?
Im a bit deflated about the nursery - I had something in mind but the wallpaper I want is like £100 a roll 😅. My other half is not keen on wallpaper and we don’t have it anywhere in the house but I feel like nurseries should be a little more playful. Anyway I’m not having it now because I just can’t justify the cost so having to rethink the whole idea I had now. Third world problem I know but it’s annoying me 😔

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 01/09/2024 19:48

@HopefulllHolly yeah the fox definitely felt lighter than all the others! Will probably go for black but do also like the grey one. I'll have to find somewhere that stocks both colours so that I can compare and decide.

As for the nursery have attached a pic of the look I'm going for with safari theme. DP is laughing because I'm picking up a 5ft Melissa and doug giraffe in the week 😂

HopefulllHolly · 01/09/2024 20:05

@DippyDuck19 Awww that’s so close to what I wanted to do! I wanted the below but with a large gingham wallpaper but now im torn between 2 tone like you want but with navy and pink floral bits, or just pale grey with mixed pastel stuff throughout. I love decorating and design and now I can’t do what I want I’m stumped as I can’t really imagine it finished now and that’s never a good sign for me. 😂

I’m having this furniture in the cashmere colour so it’s a tricky colour as well to work around: https://www.dunelm.com/product/cuddleco-clara-3-piece-nursery-furniture-set-1000216419?colour=Pale+Cashmere

@HopefulllHolly love that nursery furniture/ cot!! And really like that colour scheme in the pic too. I like design and have a vision in my head just hoping I can pull it off!

Fluffyted · 02/09/2024 13:22

I know, it's so typical that my little baby wasn't co-operating, hopefully not a sign of things to come! 🤣

We had a private scan at window to the womb yesterday and funnily enough the baby had her legs up right away when the scanner thing went on my belly so the sonography saw straight away what she was! We are having a little girl 🩷

Also I totally highly recommend a private scan!! It's soooo much "better" than the nhs ones, if anyone else like me had decided not to get one. The nhs did more health checks which was expected but the sonography lady spoke to us the whole way through and she explained everything, then at the end she told us to closed our eyes & turned the lights in the room to pink which was realtl special 🥺 deffo made up for missing out with our nhs scan!

@HopefulllHolly I have a posterior placenta & I found out at the nhs scan that the placenta is covering my cervix so will have another scan at 36 weeks to see if it's moved, apparently 9 out of 10 women's do move out the way by then. I hope your wrist bruise has gone down now, glad you are ok!

I really need to start some kind of exercise but I've fallen into the trap of being comfy on the sofa 🙈🙈

@Natty2 it was such a shame but I guess it happens when the baby decides it's comfy! 🤣 I was just so glad all was ok. How far along are you now?
I feel like the baby shopping it's very overwhelming, sooo much to buy but also like so comforting buying little bits!

@summerchild92 I got the bugaboo donkey but bought it as the mono. There are sooo many lovely prams out there! I just liked this one and found it was a dream to push. Oooooh a baby nest for the living room is a fab idea, I hadn't thought of that! And they look super cosy too!
When is your scan?
Awww that's so lovely your friend found out eventually, but typical it's so close to the birth!! These babies have a mind of their own.

@lemonyfox how are you feeling now? Congratulations on making 12 weeks!!! Such an emotional milestone!!
When is your scan?

@LouP87 oh that's very strange!! In a way it's nice to have a free scan but annoying when you know they deffo did see your baby's face! Be nice to look forward to though when you get back 🥰
Gosh they deffo do hurt a little when they push the scanner down don't they!! I even asked mine if this hurts the baby 😂 it doesn't at all but I was hinting at how hard she was pushing! Though she needed to get all the health bits so I guess it was necessary. Either that or she hated me 😂😂
Oooh a John Lewis nursery appointment sounds good! I might have to take a look at those, save some money!

@DippyDuck19 I bought the donkey 5 but as the mono because the bassinet had no plastic on it 😅😂 I was sold on the bugaboo because of how dreamy it is to push but I like you wasn't a fan of the plastic. The donkey had the extra basket and I'm known to over pack all the time so I thought that would come in handy. Plus the added basket makes the bassinet & pram seat look smaller 😂 but I totally get it's not for everyone.
I liked the fact that it can change into a double if we are lucky enough to have another little one in the future too.

The nursery pics look beautiful 😍 awww, such an exciting time!!
Getting emotional lol

How is everyone?

Edf · 02/09/2024 14:26

@Fluffyted whoops pressed send way too early. Feeling good thanks! No issues since dropping meds at the weekend. My 12 week scan is tomorrow when I'll be 12+3 😊

DippyDuck19 · 02/09/2024 15:41

@Fluffyted aww congrats on your little girl! 🩷

@Edf glad your 20 week scan went well and everything is looking ok! I think it's amazing the positions these little bubba's get themselves into!!!

@lemonyfox good luck for your 12 week scan tomorrow.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow too at 9am. The scanxiety has kicked in but glad it's early. Hoping everything will be ok and baby cooperates as need to go straight to work afterwards.
