Hi 👋

A thread for anyone who wants to discuss their Create Fertility experiences.

I'm 38, have had 3 egg collections with Create (2x natural modified and 1 x mild) and am about to go through my first FET following embryo banking and after having a Hysteroscopy and discovering I have thyroid antibodies...joys of fertility challenges.

Tagging as follows from previous chat, please tag any others I may have forgot.

I am 6w5d
no symptoms as such to be honest. I sometimes overthink and feel tired but nothing as such major to be honest. Yeah I had beta at day 10

HopefulElle · 21/04/2024 12:25

@Hollyw128 lots of people don’t have symptoms until much later, if at all. I’ve been feeling sick but I’m still not reassured as I’ve read that symptoms tend to continue beyond a MMC since it takes a while for levels to drop. Basically, symptoms or no symptoms, I think the first trimester is just completely fraught with worries for everyone, but especially those that have had to deal with infertility and/or losses. It’s really difficult, but all we can do is wait.
(I’m an impatient control freak so that’s easier said than done!!)

I hope you’ve got some sunshine where you are today and that you’re able to distract yourself somehow until your scan x

Hollyw128 · 21/04/2024 14:56

@HopefulElle yes thankyou.
Weather is really nice today.

Ks2023 · 22/04/2024 21:18

@Hollyw128 hun how was your scan today? ❤️

Plantymcplant · 25/04/2024 21:29

Hi! How is everyone doing?

Mistful · 26/04/2024 11:11

Hi all!
I'm with Create Birmingham. I have low AMH and my husband also has male factor. We bought a 3 cycle package and yesterday I had my 2nd egg collection. We only got 2 eggs this time. Currently waiting for that call from the embryologist!

Sunflower360 · 26/04/2024 11:48

@Plantymcplant I'm ok, possibly going into another FET, but I will see how things go. Hope you're ok

@Mistful I'm with Create Birmingham too, how are you finding things? I had 2 eggs collected in one of my ECs with them, both fertilised and managed to get one blastocyst frozen from that cycle, so it is possible with low numbers. Hope your Embryology update goes ok

@Sunflower360 it was bad news 😔neither of the eggs fertilised successfully.

I knew it, deep down. They wouldn't have waited so long in the day to call if it was good news.

jolly86 · 26/04/2024 17:48

@Mistful sorry about that. How was your first cycle ? This is hopefully an unlucky cycle and next one will be better. I was also at Birmingham for 1 cycle, good amount of eggs 5 (I have very low amh) unfortunately no pregnancy in that cycle

Sunflower360 · 26/04/2024 19:37

@Mistful sorry to hear that, was that with ICSI? What was the outcome of your first cycle?

OP posts:
Mistful · 26/04/2024 20:58

@Sunflower360 @jolly86 Thank you both. I suppose I'm luckier than some, in my first cycle I got 3 mature eggs, all 3 fertilised, and all 3 made it to day 6 before freezing, though 1 of them was considered too small and slow to freeze. But I said I wanted it frozen anyway, since it was still alive and trying.

Now knowing I have nothing from this second round, I am even more glad I insisted on all 3 being frozen.

Yesterday I brought in a couple of small wooden boxes for the lab. I told them not to discard my embryos, but put them in the boxes. Tomorrow I will go and collect them.

Hollyw128 · 26/04/2024 22:56

@Ks2023
scan was okay this week but I am
having brown spotting. So not sure whats happening but crying my eyes out

jolly86 · 27/04/2024 06:12

@Mistful that sounds a really good outcome. Why did they wait for day 6 for all were they early blast on day 5?

@Hollyw128 that’s not nice hope all is good as many times it can be

Hollyw128 · 27/04/2024 07:37

@jolly86
thanks
I wish infertility never existed

Sunflower360 · 27/04/2024 08:22

@Hollyw128 brown spotting I have read can be normal during pregnancy as its old blood, but appreciate your concern. Have you spoken to the clinic? They would likely do a hcg blood test with you

@jolly86 how are you during the tww? Also I had not realised you were at Birmingham too! What Dr did you have?

OP posts:
jolly86 · 27/04/2024 08:24

@Sunflower360 I was with dr felix.

Sunflower360 · 27/04/2024 08:25

@jolly86 I've never had a meeting with Dr Felix, how was she? I'm with Dr Datta

OP posts:
jolly86 · 27/04/2024 08:25

@Sunflower360 I am ok getting a bit more stressed as closer to test time. I will find it difficult to see negative for a consecutive time for double day 3 transfer, even if I keep my hopes low.

jolly86 · 27/04/2024 08:39

@Sunflower360 I wasn’t too impressed she was very soon and gloom with the scans and said access was difficult could possibly cancel the cycle , also bc one follicle was leading and that also worried her hence I was kept in suspense. In the end access wasn’t an issue at all. I don’t like this attitude during treatment as it’s already very stressful. On the contrary she was quite positive on egg collection day which we were surprised by.
where I am now, the dr has been smiling and positive from day 1 even though she saw only 2 follicles to begin with. This made the process less stressful even though I ended up with less eggs. Also the injection was only for 7 days and trigger on day 8, contrary to 11 days of injections at create. The drug dose was more but b total still more in create. Ibterest

jolly86 · 27/04/2024 08:40

The daily drug dose was slightly more here but not a lot, and if we calculate the total amount it was more due to 11 days at create. This is something interesting as makes you question what actually mild means.

Sunflower360 · 27/04/2024 08:53

@jolly86 oh that's a shame, I have to say I agree on having the positive approach, I had access concerns too which came up a few times but Dr Datta was positive after scanning me himself on that occasion and they managed to access the ovary on EC day. Most of my scans have been with the nurses and I've found them to be really good.

I think some Drs try and find the balance between being positive and managing expectations and sometimes end up leaning more towards one over the other. Negativity doesn't help at all, just builds anxiety.

Hope the tww goes ok, its the hardest part of this journey I have found as you're kind of helpless- can't do anything! Plus it's then making decisions on what to do next, I don't even know if its a double transfer we're doing for a the 3rd FET, need to see what happens to the day 3 embryo when they thaw it. If it turns into nothing then its double but if it turns into a AA/AB blastocyst then single. I like a plan but a concrete one, this is up in the air until transfer day!

OP posts:
jolly86 · 27/04/2024 13:06

@Sunflower360 did you only do single transfers till now ? I think it makes sense to do double ones as it also avoids losing time if they re not good embryos . This is how I look at it due to age pressures x

Sunflower360 · 27/04/2024 13:45

@jolly86 yes the first 2 were singles but tbh its given me a chance to get back into the swing of things like diet etc so feel more prepared and ready for a double now.
