FET in November

We're planning on having our first FET in November. Anyone else as well?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on natural vs medicated. My clinic prefers medicated but I'd rather take the least amount of hormones. Succes rates seem to be similar.

For context, after the stimulation phase 22 eggs were collected of which 16 were mature and I did a share program in which they were equally divided. So I received 8 mature eggs and 4 fertilised of which we got 3 embryos. As I was at a risk of developing overstimulation, the embryos were frozen. That's been a huge relief and I hope I can help someone else as well.

As I'm sure many of you have experienced, it's been challenging to get through the first stage. I've had quite a lot of physical and mental side effects. Does anyone else still feel bad a week after egg collection?

Hello, I hope it's ok to join here. I'm having a FET tomorrow with an embryo that's been PGTA tested.

A bit of background: I was lucky enough to have an natural pregnancy which resulted in my little one who is going to be 4 soon. However since that, I've had 4 miscarriages, our last earlier this year at 14 weeks. So we decided to go down the IVF route so we could test our embryos as we think it could be chromosal. Really hoping this works 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Hey ladies!

I'm 4dp5dt and losing the plot. I keep getting my ususal period twinges and just have a feeling it's not worked.

I had a natural FET, my test day it's 12 past transfer (next Thursday) but I would naturally be due my period on Tuesday next week so unsure if I'm not pregnant if I would come on my period as normal if it's not worked? I'm on cyclogest x

S1234P · 22/11/2023 20:46

@NatW2021 hiya, I really wouldn't worry about period twinges. Everything I've read so far indicates that this is a good sign so definitely don't rule yourself out as it's super early. When did you start experiencing the periody pain? And have you had any other "symptoms" so far?

IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 06:51

Thank you @LuckyPineapple! I was feeling exhausted and had to take some time off work. It's been a busy period and I think I've been pushing myself too much. Now I'm more anxious, which I know is irrational.

LuckyPineapple · 23/11/2023 07:44

@IVFgothope It's good to recognise when to slow down and look after yourself. Its certainly a balance with time needed for ourselves and the anxiety that can come with it all. Good luck for your transfer today 🤞🏻

I got my scan date which will be 5th Dec. Very anxious about it. Just trying to stay calm. Which is easier said than done.

LuckyPineapple · 23/11/2023 07:52

@NatW2021 Don't think too much about the period type pains. I had all my usual cramping before my positive. I'm still getting them now. I probably had even more twinges this time than usual. It's so difficult to tell the difference between early pregnancy and medication. Is cyclogest a progesterone? If so, my clinic advised that your period will still arrive on progesterone although I think mine was a bit delayed last time

@S1234P sorry to hear about the difficulties you have had. How are you feeling now in the tww? I found the tww really difficult. Obsessing over everything and Googling 🙈

IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 12:09

@LuckyPineapple thats exciting and I can imagine scary at the same time. I have my official test day on December 5th, though I’m sure I can’t wait that long.

The transfer seems to have gone well so far, the highest quality embryo survived and it was fairly straightforward. More uncomfortable than I imagined though, but bearable.

@NatW2021 sorry that you're having a hard time! I hope time passes quickly and will keep my fingers crossed for you xx

@IVFgothope Glad to hear all went well. I remember being very uncomfortable too! Great your embryo survived the thaw. That was always my worry along with the rest.

Here's to the 5th Dec bringing us both good news. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

S1234P · 23/11/2023 16:36

Hi @LuckyPineapple, I'm doing ok thanks - I've tried to keep myself as busy as possible but I haven't had any symptoms at all so I'm starting to get a bit worried even though I'm 2dp5dt. How are you feeing? Fingers crossed the scan goes perfectly x

IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 16:58

@Lebe14 how are you? Hope your period has arrived!

OP posts:
LuckyPineapple · 23/11/2023 16:59

@S1234P Don't worry it's still really early. Any symptoms that made me a little suspicious were at the end of my TWW. The process of implantation takes several days and then for HCG to be high enough to start causing symptoms takes more time on top of that.

I'm ok, just anxious. I do a test every so often for reassurance. It can't be good for my mental health but I suppose it eases some of the worry. Hopefully, TWW flies in for you.

There's just always something to be anxious about when it comes to fertility treatment.

Lebe14 · 23/11/2023 18:04

No luck @IVFgothope ☹️ Now 7 days late. The clinics cut off for Xmas for baseline scans in next Tuesday, so if it doesn't arrive before then, no transfer until the New Year. So gutted. Period has never ever been this late before. How are you getting on? X

hja62 · 23/11/2023 18:16

Hi, can I join??

I transferred two 3BB embryos today. They were our last 2 embryos out of the 7 we had. We've had 1DD from our second transfer 2 years ago, and 3 miscarriages in the last year trying for a sibling.

It's been a really rough cycle, I was slower responding to stims than normal so my transfer was delayed 4 days, my bloods showed an unexpected drop in oestrogen which subsequently went back to normal and was treated as a lab error, I had to travel twice during stims and which made me so anxious keeping my meds cold, and then I came down with a head cold yesterday. I almost cancelled, I felt it wasn't meant to be. But then reminded myself I've had textbook perfect cycles that haven't worked so if it's meant to be it's meant to be.

I'm so so nervous. And exhausted. And I feel there is added pressure going through this just before Christmas....we'd love a Christmas miracle. But it will be a heartbreaking Christmas otherwise.

IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 19:51

@Lebe14 oh that's so annoying - do you have pms symptoms?

@Elkly88 how are you doing?

OP posts:
Lebe14 · 23/11/2023 19:57

@IVFgothope yeah been feeling like it should be coming on for days - tired & moody. Had 1 day of spotting on day 22 of my cycle, which I thought was my cycle starting but then nothing... and it's now day 32..... I've never had a cycle this long before. No chance of pregnancy unless if I ovulated a couple of days late, but then the spotting would have been 4DPO which is way too early for implantation. And extremely unlikely with the amount of time TTC. Very confused but think it must just be my travelling that's caused the delay. So annoying as I've been waiting months for this FET ☹️ xx

IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 19:57

@hja62 welcome! You've been on quite a ride. I'm so sorry to hear about your difficult cycle and miscarriages - that sounds really awful.

I had my first transfer today at the London Women's Clinic. I can emphasise with the Xmas miracle vs misery prospect. If it doesn't work I'll consolidate myself with spa time and wine.

Lebe14 · 23/11/2023 19:59

@IVFgothope congrats on your transfer today!!! Did it go okay? I'm also with LWC! X

IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 20:00

@Lebe14 that's such a pain but I think you're right that travel can cause a delayed period. Have you been tempted to test? I hate this process being so uncertain with endless waiting.

OP posts:
IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 20:03

@Lebe14 how are you finding them? I'm feeling more relaxed now the transfer is done, just very tired but that's nothing new. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you have one sooner than later Xx

OP posts:
Lebe14 · 23/11/2023 20:09

@IVFgothope yeah I reckon it's defo the travelling. The holiday was intense too on the body, not a relaxing holiday, so that might be why too. If I had some tests I would have probably tested, but I don't have any at the moment. However, based on dates, I am 99% sure it's travel related. Just got to hope it sorts itself out over the coming days.

I'm very happy with LWC so far. My consultant is honest and manages our expectations well. I'm at one of the satellite branches so as it's small the staff are super friendly and supportive.

Glad your transfer went well - hope you get to relax over the coming days and fingers crossed for a good outcome in 11/12 days!! X

IVFgothope · 23/11/2023 20:17

@Lebe14 that makes sense. Where did you go?

I agree, their health care professionals and embryologists are excellent; very supportive and understanding. I've only had issues with their admin staff as they keep mixing things up.

Hiya @IVFgothope ! Thanks for your message. I've been awful at keeping up with Mumsnet, and I think I went a bit quiet for a bit to try and stay calmish!

I had my transfer last Thursday. For some stupid reason, I tested four days after transfer and it was very obviously negative. I tested yesterday and got the first faint positive I've ever seen in my life, and another slightly darker one today at 7 days past. Since seeing it yesterday I've had a bit of hope but now of course I'm worrying about it not progressing. I didn't sleep until gone 2am last night with anxiety, so have been trying to calm down a bit today! My official test day isn't until next Wednesday so just trying to hold on and look after myself a bit until then.

How are you doing?? Transfer went OK? Hope you're having some time to rest a bit.

@IVFgothope we're transfer buddies !! I hope your transfer went well today and the TWW goes fast!

Will you test early?? This is my 6th FET and I've always tested early....I have no patience!!
