FET in November

IVFgothope · 05/10/2023 23:43

We're planning on having our first FET in November. Anyone else as well?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on natural vs medicated. My clinic prefers medicated but I'd rather take the least amount of hormones. Succes rates seem to be similar.

For context, after the stimulation phase 22 eggs were collected of which 16 were mature and I did a share program in which they were equally divided. So I received 8 mature eggs and 4 fertilised of which we got 3 embryos. As I was at a risk of developing overstimulation, the embryos were frozen. That's been a huge relief and I hope I can help someone else as well.

As I'm sure many of you have experienced, it's been challenging to get through the first stage. I've had quite a lot of physical and mental side effects. Does anyone else still feel bad a week after egg collection?

Had my 7 week scan this morning and I'm in the same situation as you @LuckyPineapple. Everything is there, the medic could see 'pulsations', but I'm measuring a week behind. They've booked me in again for a weeks time to review again, so it's a case of having to wait and see. I'm taking a leaf out of your book and keeping well away from Google - che sera, sera 🔮

I think I'll probably also try and stay off my phone as much as possible and try to distract myself with Christmas prep. I'll check-in with you ladies in a weeks time to catch up with all your updates ❤️

S1234P · 15/12/2023 15:22

@IVFgothope - Ahh sorry you've had to cancel your trip but also good on you for putting yourself and your health first. I couldn't imagine being being in a car for 7 hours! How are you feeling now?

Thank you for the links, funnily, I saw the second one on sky news that same day! It's so interesting...now if they can find a cure that would AMAZING! I've never felt as bad as I have this time around.

@BambiOnIce80 - all the best inthe horrible wait time and I'm rooting for you both and some good news next week xx

mjet · 20/12/2023 18:40

@BambiOnIce80 thinking of you for your next scan.

I've had a tinniest bit of brown discharge yesterday and today, everything I've read say its normal, its just old blood, but i cant stop worrying :(

we have our next scan next Thursday and hopefully will be distracted by Christmas over the next week.

hope everyone is doing OK wherever you are on your journey xx

IVFgothope · 20/12/2023 22:10

@mjet I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your next scan!

@S1234P how are you feeling? I’ve been feeling horrendous, unable to eat or drink much and being sick. Couldn’t look at my phone or any screen. I called my GP on Monday who prescribed Cyclizine and said that if things didn’t get better she might refer me to hospital. Luckily Cyclizine seems to work much better. As we cancelled our Xmas plans, I was able to book in a last minute scan at my clinic tomorrow.

OP posts:
S1234P · 20/12/2023 22:38

Hi @mjet , I've also had some brown discharge on and off. If it helps, I had it with my DS and everything was fine :) I'm sure it'll be the same for you x

@IVFgothope - I've also got my scan tomorrow morning, but I'm so so nervous for it. Your symptoms sound horrendous, are you being sick often? I'm constantly feeling nauseous all day and the cyclizine takes a bit of the edge off but not completely. I'm literally sleeping all day and I'm hoping it will get better by 12 weeks!

What time is your scan?

IVFgothope · 20/12/2023 23:50

@S1234P good luck with your scan! Mine is in the afternoon at 2.30 pm.

I was throwing occasionally, not all the time, but had the urge to constantly and my body then tried hard to hold it down. Then I felt dizzy and like fainting, and it didn’t help that I’m naturally slim so few reserves to go on. At the end I couldnt even go for a 5 min walk. I slept 12ish hours a night plus naps.

I recommend asking your gp for a different med if you feel like it’s getting too much. I was skeptical but Cyclizine works for me whereas the previous one only took the edge off.

S1234P · 21/12/2023 19:38

Hi @IVFgothope , how did your scan go today? I'm so sorry, your symptoms really sound brutal!! I'm so glad the cyclizine is working. Just take as much rest as you can, I find this has helped me.

I actually had a huge shock today as it turns we're expecting twins. But we only had 1 embryo transfer so it's ended up splitting and resulting in identical twins. I'm still in complete shock and never ever expected it!!

IVFgothope · 21/12/2023 19:46

@S1234P congratulations! Glad to hear that the scan went well and what a surprise! Twins is exciting!

My scan went well, baby is the right size, right location and we could hear the heart beat. I felt so relieved and emotional afterwards. My partner was secretly hoping for twins but we have 1 (transferred 1 embryo) and I’m very happy with that.

If I’m honest, I’m not sure how I’d cope if the symptoms didn’t get better soon because it was so horrible.

OP posts:
S1234P · 21/12/2023 20:01

@IVFgothope , I'm still reeling and never thought it would happen as the nurse said it was the same chance as if it was a natural pregnancy.

The main thing the scan went well :) do you have any more after this?

Hopefully once you get to 12 weeks and your symptoms will be completely better - with my DS they got much better in the second trimester.

IVFgothope · 21/12/2023 21:25

@S1234P amazing! We’re both so lucky :)

I have my first midwife appointment 2 Jan. How about you?

Fingers crossed! My GP said it varies a lot but hopefully by 12 weeks this sickness will be done.

OP posts:
mjet · 22/12/2023 16:22

@S1234P aww twins that is thee most wonderful surprise!! congratulations!

@IVFgothope so glad to hear scan went well, lovely news x

S1234P · 22/12/2023 17:23

@IVFgothope , we have our next scan on the 3rd Jan and will probably have another before the 12 week scan as I've had recurrent miscarriages so they need to monitor me a bit more.

@mjet thank you so much, I think we're both still shocked to be honest with you. How is everything going for you?

S1234P · 13/01/2024 18:02

Hi everyone, just wondering how you're all getting on? I'vr got the date for my 12 week scan but have to have additional scans too and I'm just petrified every time I go in.

mjet · 14/01/2024 07:36

Hey! aw totally get the scan anxiety, it's horrible. I work myself up so much just before a scan thinking something has happened. We've had two scans with our fertility clinic and then were discharged from them. We had a private scan the other day and our 12 week one is not for another two weeks although we will be 13weeks by then. I'm starting to wean off steroids now which has made me anxious, and I'm meant to stop all my other meds and injections next week but I might wean off those as well so it's not such a shock to my body. has anyone else stopped medication yet?

hope everyone is doing well, been thinking of you all x

IVFgothope · 14/01/2024 17:38

@S1234P & @mjet hope your scans go well! I've only had one from my clinic but found it nerve wrecking too. My 12 week scan is in 2 weeks. Tbh I've been feeling so unwell that I don't have much anxiety atm. I just want time to pass by quickly and feel better.

Are you doing the screening tests at your 12 week scan? That's the bit I'm most nervous about.

OP posts:
S1234P · 17/01/2024 15:12

Hi @mjet , so good that your clinic gave you 2 scans and hopefully the next couple of weeks will go by quickly. I stopped my injections and patches at 10 weeks but have continued with the pessaries until at least 13 weeks.

@IVFgothope, I had my embryos PGTA tested so I'm not sure whether I can have the screening. I remember it being nerve wracking the very first time but remember, the stats are much much higher for a healthy baby so try not to fret (easier said than done!)

I've got my 12 week scan next week, they did book me in at 13 weeks but I called and luckily managed to change it.

mjet · 17/01/2024 19:41

I'm not sure about the screening tests, I need to do some more research.

aw glad you haven't got long to wait for the next scan!!

sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well @IVFgothope hopefully it subsides soon. I feel like I'm getting more pregnancy symptoms now that I'm weaning from steroids.

IVFgothope · 11/10/2024 12:57

Hi 👋 I realised it's been a year since I created this thread. Currently I'm nap trapped with my 8 week old baby boy. What a difference a year can make! How is everyone doing?

Awww congratulations @IVFgothope !

After our BFN with our last embryos we took off on a last minute holiday to pick ourselves up again.

We started again in February of this year with another retrieval and PGT. I can't remember our exact numbers but we got 30+ eggs, 25ish fertilised but only 2 made it to blast. It was a huge shock. However, we sent these for PGT and we're so lucky to get one normal and one low level mosaic!

I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant with our normal embryo 🥰🥰 it's been an incredibly anxious time praying so much I get to hold this beautiful baby in less than 20 weeks time x

Chickencrazy3356 · 14/10/2024 04:32

Congratulations on your little boy ! How are you feeling ? How was this a year ago, we were so lucky our FET worked and we’ve got a beautiful little boy. Was a tough journey a 6 week scan showed a threatened miscarriage and I was therefore injecting progesterone 4 x a day up till 16 weeks but he did stick by some miracle, he was very small and had fetal growth restriction , he wasn’t very well when he was born but thanks to the amazing NICU he is now home with us.

he’s absolutely amazing and I cannot believe how lucky we are, this is such a tough journey for everybody and I hope everyone going through it is ok

S1234P · 14/10/2024 09:00

Hello everyone, @IVFgothope , thanks for reaching out!! I was thinking about this group recently too :). After our single and only embryo transfer last year, we were shocked to find out that it had split and that we were expecting twins!! We now have 3 month old identical boys :D. I still can't over how lucky we are and I'm so besotted by them! @Chickencrazy3356 @mjet @IVFgothope - I'm so happy for you all, how were your births/pregnancies?

I hope everyone else is in a much better place than last year, the ride is such a tough one xx

IVFgothope · 14/10/2024 12:00

Congratulations @hja62! That's amazing and what a rollercoaster! I can empathise with the anxiety and kept telling myself that once you've made it through the first 20 weeks, the risk of something going wrong is so much lower. I'll keep everything crossed for you having a beautiful healthy baby in 2025 :)

OP posts:
IVFgothope · 14/10/2024 12:06

@Chickencrazy3356 congratulations on your baby boy! How wonderful that he made it. I'm so happy for you :) How old is he now?

I'm good, my boy had his vaccinations last week and didn't feel well. I hadn't expected how difficult I would find that as I rationally know he's fine. I'm still feeling quite anxious about something going wrong. The NICU must have been so tough for you.

IVFgothope · 14/10/2024 12:13

Congratulations on your twin boys @S1234P! That's amazing - how are they doing?

Pregnancy was probably one of the toughest times of my life. I was sick for a long time and off work for 2 months. It got much better after 20 weeks but never really went away. Labour was a breeze compared to pregnancy. I did lots of prep and learned hypnobirthing techniques to manage. Did you have a c-section?
