FET in November

We're planning on having our first FET in November. Anyone else as well?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on natural vs medicated. My clinic prefers medicated but I'd rather take the least amount of hormones. Succes rates seem to be similar.

For context, after the stimulation phase 22 eggs were collected of which 16 were mature and I did a share program in which they were equally divided. So I received 8 mature eggs and 4 fertilised of which we got 3 embryos. As I was at a risk of developing overstimulation, the embryos were frozen. That's been a huge relief and I hope I can help someone else as well.

As I'm sure many of you have experienced, it's been challenging to get through the first stage. I've had quite a lot of physical and mental side effects. Does anyone else still feel bad a week after egg collection?

Hey! Can I join? I'm hopefully having my first FET this month after a freeze all cycle in September. I have 2 embryos frozen. I'm doing a natural FET and on day 9 waiting for peak! So nervous things will go wrong as there seems to have been delays every step of the way. 🙏

LuckyPineapple · 09/11/2023 21:26

Hi @NatW2021 I completely understand how you feel. I had a freeze all as well. We had 2 frozen blastocysts and I'm currently 9dp5dt with one of them. I started on a medicated cycle for FET and then had to switch to natural because my body decided to do its own thing anyway 🙈 I'm at that stage of driving myself mad symptom spotting and being terrified to know the result.

IVF is a constant waiting game or having sudden changes last minute isn't it? Like a rollercoaster! I'm always worried things will go wrong.

Do you have a date for transfer?

NatW2021 · 12/11/2023 18:18

@LuckyPineapple - how you getting on? I am dreading the TWW. I've had my positive opk today so going for a scan tomorrow and all being well transferring Saturday!! X

LuckyPineapple · 12/11/2023 18:40

Hi @NatW2021 oh that's so exciting! I really loved transfer day (apart from the full bladder) 🙈

I got my bfp yesterday 🥰 still in disbelief to be honest. I had a couple of things that made me a little suspicious last week, but I was still terrified to test.

The TWW is difficult. I found my concentration on anything else wasn't great. Try and keep your mind occupied but that's easier said than done. Im pretty sure I broke Dr Google through it all 🙈

NatW2021 · 12/11/2023 19:16

@LuckyPineapple omg amazing, congratulations!!! Bet you can't believe it,

Was this your first cycle? Do you mind sharing why you did ivf?

We are classed as "unexplained" so I'm really struggling with something more serious going on and that even IVF won't work.

LuckyPineapple · 12/11/2023 20:29

@NatW2021 Thank you. It feels very surreal. I just hope that things go the right way 🙏🏻

Not at all. We had fertility testing done and found it was male factor so started straight away with ICSI.
Our first cycle ended up cancelled because I got covid and it messed up my response to the medication. Second cycle I got 9 mature eggs but only 1 fertilised and we transfered it at day 3. Unfortunately it failed.
So we spent about 3 months healthy eating/ taking supplements and started our 3rd cycle which resulted in 9 eggs and 3 fertilised. 2 made it to Blast (4AB and 4BB) and it was a freeze all as I started with OHSS.

I suppose in some ways it helped that we knew where to try and improve but our fertilisation has never been the expected 50%-80% for ICSI. But hopefully this little one stays strong.

I'm sure it is difficult not knowing the reason. Stay positive though 🤞🏻I've heard lots of success stories for unexplained infertility.

I've just learned to try and take it as it comes. Easier said than done though. Felt pretty crazy these last 2 weeks! 🤯🙈

Lebe14 · 14/11/2023 09:48

Sorry for the delay @IVFgothope. How is your prep for your FET going? Have you a date for the transfer yet? I'm just waiting for AF to arrive to book in my baseline scan. Think it should arrive early next week but hoping it arrives earlier as I'm ready to go! X

Lebe14 · 14/11/2023 09:50

And many congrats @LuckyPineapple!! Hope you're doing well xx

LuckyPineapple · 14/11/2023 10:13

Ah thank you @Lebe14! Still in disbelief. Just got my call from the clinic to confirm. So happy but nervous. I'm just hoping things go how they should 🙏🏻

That'll be great to get a date for your baseline. It's exciting having a time frame to work towards. Are you doing a medicated FET?

Lebe14 · 14/11/2023 11:10

That's great news @LuckyPineapple - so pleased for you!! Bet you're over the moon.

Yeah defo can't wait to get going and have a timeframe. Waiting is the worst. Yes fully medicated - 4 oestrogen tablets then 3 progesterone pessaries and 1 injection per day. It's my first FET so think my consultant is giving me everything possible. She has been very honest though in that there isn't a high percentage of a successful outcome, but she's giving us every chance possible xx

LuckyPineapple · 14/11/2023 20:29

@Lebe14 Yes over the moon and nervous at the same time. Our worries in ivf never seem to go they just change 🙈

Completely agree the waiting is so difficult. I find that at least when you're in the throws of it you feel you're doing something.

It's good your Dr is giving you every chance. It's so important to have confidence in them. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Stilltryingforbub1 · 18/11/2023 16:52

Hi can I join in, currently in 2ww 11 days post transfer, bloods due Monday but tested at 3am last night BFN, 1 tiny pink spot yest I normally am out by now but clinic said continue with schedule as I hvbt bleed yet.
Congratulations @LuckyPineapple.
Anyone ever used Lubion? It's my only change this FET so I suspect it's delayed AF.

Lebe14 · 19/11/2023 13:10

@Stilltryingforbub1 how has the TWW been? Fingers crossed for Monday. I'll be starting my medicated FET soon - hopefully! Was due on today but surprise surprise, period hasn't arrived 😂 hopefully tomorrow. I've been prescribed lubion alongside cycologest. How did you find it?

How are you feeling @LuckyPineapple? X

Stilltryingforbub1 · 19/11/2023 13:20

@Lebe14 hey, emmm I'm on the emotional roller-coaster at the min, clinic said I could test this wknd if I wanted which was neg, they advised I wait to take my bloods and continue meds, no symptoms at all so its looking very likely it's going to be neg also. Typical AF never does what it's meant to do eh lol 😂
Wish you the very best in your treatment. I'm on lubion but added crinone myself ERA=low progesterone and last cycle added 1 extra day prior to transfer and the same with this cycle, I've seen others on both so made the decision myself.

Lebe14 · 19/11/2023 14:06

Fingers are tightly crossed for you @Stilltryingforbub1 - IVF is certainly a roller coaster xx

Stilltryingforbub1 · 19/11/2023 16:22

@Lebe14 thanks girly, I wish you all the luck in the world it's a tough old journey xx

Lebe14 · 20/11/2023 09:02

Thank you @Stilltryingforbub1. Annoyingly my cycle hasn't started this morning either. I'm usually so regular 😂😂 fingers crossed it comes tomorrow now x

LuckyPineapple · 20/11/2023 09:28

@Lebe14 I'm good, starting to feel quite nauseous at various times now and my body feels quite fatigued. But I'm welcoming it with open arms! Still feel anxious hoping everything is going the right way.

How are you feeling? Hopefully your period arrived. It's so typical that when you want it there on time then it's late 🙈 it'll be exciting to get started!

LuckyPineapple · 20/11/2023 09:32

@Stilltryingforbub1 Thank you!

Fingers crossed for your bloods today 🤞🏻 Its such an anxious wait. There's always waiting for something when it comes to IVF.

Stilltryingforbub1 · 20/11/2023 09:36

@Lebe14 of course when you need it the nosy typical mother nature
@LuckyPineapple it doesn't look promising and the nurse gave me her sympathies when taking my blood so I dnt hold out any hope at this stage tbh x

Lebe14 · 20/11/2023 11:42

@LuckyPineapple glad you're feeling okay, minus the nausea and fatigue. I'm sure the anxiety never stops with IVF, no matter where you are in the process, but I'm sure everything will be fine - just need to concentrate on getting through each stage. Bet you still can't believe it!

Period still hasn't arrived boooo. Normally have a 25 day cycle and I'm now on cycle day 29. I have been travelling so think it must be that, that's messed this cycle up. Hopefully my period will arrive before 28th November as otherwise it'll be too late to start preparation for the FET before Xmas closures.... definitely feel like it's on its way so fingers crossed tomorrow is the day!! X

IVFgothope · 20/11/2023 17:32

Sorry I'm just catching up! Having my transfer this Thursday and I've not been feeling well.

IVFgothope · 20/11/2023 17:45

@LuckyPineapple that's amazing news, many congratulations! What kind of symptoms did you have during the wait?

OP posts:
LuckyPineapple · 20/11/2023 18:52

@Stilltryingforbub1 I'm sorry to hear that. It really is so difficult. My last one didn't work out and I found out the morning I was leaving on holiday. I thought it was terrible timing but to be honest looking back it was a good distraction. If it doesn't work this time take the time to look after yourself and do nice things that make you feel good.

@Lebe14 Yes still can't really believe it. Feels very surreal after everything! It really is such a journey. That's good you feel your period is on its way and it'll be just in time to start FET then. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 so typical of mother nature though 🙈

@IVFgothope sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. That is exciting that your transfer is this week! How do you feel about it?

I had a couple of symptoms that made me a little suspicious towards the end of the TWW. I had this really odd feeling in my lower stomach muscles. Almost like I'd done loads of sit ups and had fatigued muscles. They weren't sore just tired. Also had a strong sense of smell. Took a real dislike to some colleagues perfume and some food which made me feel a bit nauseous. It's so hard to tell with medications etc but those symptoms were very different for me and I'd never had that before.

I hope all goes well for your transfer 🤞🏻
