IVF - 1 follicle - any success stories

Hi,

I’ve recently started ivf with create fertility and have found this site and shared stories so helpful so hoping for some positive stories from similar circumstances :(.

I am 32 with low afc and AMH. I am on day 9 of stimms and only have 1 follicle at 11mm and another at 7mm we have increased dose and will scan on Friday but am feeling so disappointed. The doctors haven’t advised to cancel and we don’t know whether we should cancel and try again next cycle but estimated cost for canx with meds and scans would be another £2.5k which we can’t afford.

are there any success stories out there from women who have conceived from one mature follicle and egg :(.

@iwoulddoanythingforlove ah I wondered about argc but wasn't sure I'd be able to cope with such an intense process. I'm sorry they didn't come up with anything more hopeful in terms of suggestions. It might be worth getting another opinion from another clinic? I realise this process is so exhausting though.

My follow up went ok - felt like 30 minutes of the call was me giving information, 25 minutes hearing information about ivf that I already know and 5 useful minutes asking questions. A cycle with 1 follicle is possible, I just need to work out if the emotional energy needed is worth it for realistically a low chance of success.

@twoforwardandtwoback the process wasn’t too bad, I think being on mild it’s less stimming so it was probably about 9 days in total from CD2 to egg retrieval. But helps if you live / work close by!

I actually don’t even know where else to try anymore, create was the other one I thought might be good for low reserve.

that’s so annoying, I don’t know why they have to go on about the whole process in depth especially when you know it! Well I did a cycle with 1 follicle, it is possible it’s just I suppose your chances just get lower in each next step / fertilisation / blasts. Hope you can find the answers you need to decide ❤️

I have low AMH (0.7pmol). I’m 31 (nearly 32). I was told I would max get 1-2 follicles. I went lister for 1 cycle (and so did my twin sister), both of us were unsuccessful. I then went to London Guys hospital and they not only got me 2 decent embryos at the end but one (so far) has stuck and im now 11 weeks pregnant. My sister is just doing her 2nd cycle here too.

i know many others who were unsuccessful at other clinics too, and went Guys and they found progress. Their admin team is horrendous but if you can live past that, I truly believe the egg collection and embryo team were incredible!

I should say, I also had many consultations with others eg. Create, CRGH and Kings. Overall, the message I heard was low stim approaches aren’t worth it with low AMH as emphasis is on boosting numbers (and your quality does not change regardless of meds). I personally found this too as I was put on max stims at Guys!

Feel free to message if anyone wants anymore info- a lot of lessons learnt along the way.

@twoforwardandtwoback thank you! Scan went well I’m now 7 weeks with good heartbeat, they did find a small SCH so resting and hoping it resolves itself 😬

good luck on your journey, I was told I had very low chances and it was unlikely but didn’t give up. Praying this bean sticks and we have our rainbow baby by the end of the year x
