Belfast Fertility Clinics

Sunshine180 · 20/06/2023 15:38

does anyone here have any experience with fertility clinics in Belfast. For background my husband and I have been TTC for 2 years now and my dr has referred me to gynae but the waitlist is currently 3 years. My husband has booked for his semen analysis and if it comes back ok I assume the nhs will just tell us we have to wait on my gynae appointment so I was going to look into going private.

I have seen In Ovo do an IVF package for £5k has anyone with experience of them experienced are there many hidden costs on top of this please?

@StillTTC7 yeah definitely, we’re in this journey together after all just us ladies have to do most of the hard work as usual! Lol.

Aw there’s so many different reasons for spotting at this stage, hopefully could be implantation bleeding. You’ve did so well to hold out for your testing date!

@Sunshine180 hahaha I know! So typical. But then we wouldn’t be able to say how much we do, it’s a vicious circle! Lol

Aw I really hope so, but I’m always so negative about things when it comes to myself. Anyone else I’m a ray of positive sunshine! Yes I am a stickler for the rules to be honest, a total nerd 😆

Sunshine180 · 14/02/2024 22:26

@StillTTC7 aw I know it’s hard to try and stay positive isn’t it! Even at this stage I’m trying hard to be positive about the whole thing but don’t want to be overly positive that I’ll be devastated if it doesn’t work the first time, vicious cycle as with it all!

good luck for the morning, I’ll be thinking of you ❤️

Hey @Sunshine180, bad news for me 😔I knew it would be but it’s still hard to come to terms with. Wishing you all the luck in the world with your treatment! I’ll keep an eye out on here😌

Sunshine180 · 15/02/2024 11:52

@StillTTC7 I’m so sorry to hear that. Look after yourself today and just have some time with your hubby. Thinking of you ❤️

@StillTTC7 was thinking about you this morning and was hoping for the best. Really sorry to hear the news. Just take the time now to look after yourself.

StillTTC7 · 15/02/2024 12:21

@Sunshine180 @daisy9207 thank you both so much. Hoping for the best outcomes for you both 🩷

Not sure if everyone has seen this, some positive news for NI for once

But some women say the changes to publicly-funded IVF do not go far enough.

@Sunshine180 I did see that rli great news for alot couples out there unfortunately our nhs cycle our embyros didn't reach development criteria by day 6 to be frozen so were discarded. Just seems to be luck bad or good

Sunshine180 · 17/02/2024 10:57

@Snowdrop131 aw I’m sorry to hear that. The end goal is to entitle everyone to 3 full cycles but obviously that could be a long time away to wait on funding and then I’m sure there’ll be a backdated deadline same as there has been this time but it’s a step in the right direction.

mare you waiting on a FET currently? Sorry I know you’ve probably said previously on this post but I can’t remember exactly

Snowdrop131 · 17/02/2024 19:59

@Sunshine180
My fresh transfer failed unfortunately and as no embyros frozen guess that's my nhs options ended still have to have review with consultant but we are going ahead with TFP privately as even if go with rfc privately still be 6 months likely at least before can start again.

Sunshine180 · 17/02/2024 22:25

@Snowdrop131 ah yes I remember now sorry. Hopefully you can get started again pretty quickly with TFP and take away any learnings you have from your first cycle

@StillTTC7 had been wondering about your news, sorry to hear that you too had an unsuccessful round. I also had my first ivf round with RFC and it sadly ended in a negative result this morning. Such a hard day

Sunshine180 · 18/02/2024 21:17

@IVF2024 so sorry to hear about your result this morning. It seems the first round can be so experimental or also just pure luck. Hope you’re able to take some time to look after yourself and recover

OP posts:
IVF2024 · 18/02/2024 21:39

@Sunshine180 thankyou what an incredibly tough day. We weren’t lucky enough to have any frozen embryos to go forward with either

have you had any ivf success yourself? Or are you still in process? X

Sunshine180 · 18/02/2024 21:49

@IVF2024 I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get any embryos to freeze. Do you have any learnings you could possibly take forward to another cycle if you decide to do one?

I am just about to start my first cycle, first injection will be on Friday. I am with RFC also. So unfair that the funding is a complete postcode lottery and we only get one NHS go but I know there are some parts of the UK that get none

IVF2024 · 18/02/2024 22:04

@Sunshine180 i am not sure what we could have done differently. I was working less, felt more positive than I have been in my life, breezed through the nasal sprays and injections had no side effects to complain about then boom failed results this morning. I had such positive symptoms too throughout the two week wait then last night at last hurdle I started to spot followed by negative result this morning. We are just devastated. I really wish you a happy and easy round with a positive outcome ❤️

Sunshine180 · 18/02/2024 22:13

@IVF2024 does sound like you just had bad luck unfortunately, you know you’ve did everything you could have. Are you going to look into private options? Sorry I know it is maybe too soon to be thinking about that.

thank you so much ❤️ it’s a hard mix between trying to stay positive but not wanting to get too exciting when we don’t know what the outcome will be

IVF2024 · 18/02/2024 22:45

@Sunshine180 we are just feeling very much at a loss as what to do next. Our initial reason for going for IVF is as down to unexplained infertility neither of us had any issues other than it just wasn’t happening for us. TTC for 8 years naturally but nothing worked then we registered with nhs back in September 2023 the only reason why our treatment didn’t start before January 2024 was down to me having to have a uterine internal examination in October to see if everything was ok for ivf which it was, we were then called shortly after that in December to start our forms with RFC, treatment started on 4th Jan and here we are today with failed round after what seemed like a really smooth process! Just minding boggling! will look forward to hearing what they suggest we do next

Sunshine180 · 18/02/2024 22:53

@IVF2024 will you have a follow up consultation now to discuss? Hopefully they can give you some useful advice other than just try again but sometimes it does seem that is the only thing for it.

sometimes I think the drop of time between egg collection and embryos can be indicative of some tests to carry out but I’m really not too knowledgable on that. What age are you if you don’t mind me asking?

Wishing you success on your future journey ❤️

Hi @IVF2024, sorry but in the downer that has been my week I only updated this thread and missed the TWW one.
So sorry to hear your news too. It’s so tough. I cannot believe how massively I underestimated this whole process. Sending all good feeling your way. I have been a mess since Thursday and have only left the house to walk the dog. Starting to feel a bit more human today though. Have to ring tomorrow about organising a review appointment which will probably start me off again…
I hope you take a few days to just let it all sink in / settle. Others might not get the absolute heart ache, but we do on here ❤️

IVF2024 · 18/02/2024 22:59

Yes they gave us a form to fill in regardless of result and on it it says would you like a follow up consultation or what not, so we have requested one.

I have just turned 40 and my husband is 39. We aren’t hung up on the age bracket or anything as a lot of our friends are having healthy pregnancies at this age. It just wasn’t meant to be this time around.

do keep us update on your journey. It is always lovely to hear good news even if we are wallowing in our own tears. Wishing you all the luck in the world and yes I’ll keep yous updated on what happens next xx

LiIacMoon · 19/02/2024 00:07

@IVF2024 sorry to hear your round wasn't successful and that your not feeling discouraged by age. I had my round with rfc in October and im 38

TTC12 · 20/02/2024 09:40

Hi All, sorry for being MIA on this chat- I go from trying to blank it all out as it’s overwhelming…..to googling a million things!!

Sorry to hear about those who have been unsuccessful this cycle, it really is heartbreaking. Thinking of you all.

I have EC on Thursday- anyone got any tips ahead of this?

Sunshine180 · 20/02/2024 09:46

Hi @TTC12, no tips for EC unfortunately as I haven’t had mine yet but just wanted to say good luck!

how have you found the stims? Have you had many side effects?
