I'm so frustrated. The insurance are waiting for the medical report and fit to fly, which the hospital was supposed to get to them asap, but apparently the doctor is not here, so I can call back Monday 🤬 (I'm in his room). So asap in a spanish medical sense is whenever they can be bothered 🙄Genuinely think they're stretching it for the insurance now. Waiting for the insurance to call me back.

That’s so frustrating @VenusStarr I’m sorry to hear it’s going to delay things further for you both. You have both been through enough I really do hope you can get home soon without any further complication now ❤️

I’ve used cream/pessaries for thrush during a cycle @Lori2022 and taken an extra oral probiotic if I get warning signs. I just avoided putting anything up there just before the EC or ET. Good luck with the trigger and let us know how you get on on Monday.

@Gardenlady543 I think if you’re not overly sensitive to antibiotics causing thrush etc then go with what the usual protocols say for dosage. I can understand that, it’s probably quite nerve wracking.

kerrym87 · 25/03/2023 15:09

@Gardenlady543 my doxycycline is 100mg OD for 7 days, doesn't give me thrush but get digestive side effects
@Lori2022 it's worth telling them, do you know which brand they use? There's always other options they can source, our unit uses optilube (for other reasons) but we've had others depending on what stores arrive
@VenusStarr it would depend on his bloods as liver is involved to some extent with clotting processes (can't remember which part though!), what issue did he have? If that's too personal you don't have to answer. Could British embassy arrange a consultation with a doctor there and someone in uk who is medical to establish fit to fly status? X thinking of you

VenusStarr · 25/03/2023 19:29

Thank you @kerrym87 and @Enfys23 we think he'll be discharged on Monday now... insurance said they'll send over flight options as soon as he's cleared, there's a couple on Tuesday late evening. Thought there'd be more flights to be honest.
The doctors and hospital have told him nothing, just that one of the enzymes is elevated but they're not retesting and he's no long on a drip (although still has a cannula) just in case. He is on a lactose free diet but only found out when he was given a soya yoghurt but he didn't like it.
Trying not to panic, our neighbour has offered to look after our cats as the cat sitter goes away tomorrow. One has thyroid meds but she'll have to miss a few doses. No way will she let my neighbour do it, she took a couple of days to settle when we left. I doubt my neighbour will even see the cats as they're scared around people they dont know well and hide. Really hoping we're home by Wednesday (if not earlier) 🙏 the embassy do know and are checking in, although it's out of hours until Monday.
Can't believe where this week has gone! Luckily my boss is sympathetic and kind, no idea what it'll be marked as for absence.

Thanks to everyone for checking in and thinking of us. Xx ❤️

@VenusStarr I’m really sorry to see this has been happening for you, was this your trip? I can’t remember where you were going. I need to catch up on the thread but just read a couple of messages, this sounds so stressful. Hope you’re doing ok and home soon x

thislittlebird · 25/03/2023 19:39

And obviously by you’re I mean both of you!

Faithhopelove83 · 26/03/2023 08:40

Thank you @VenusStarr ❤I'm doing ok thanks. Desperately in need of this break, I'm exhausted from all the treatment. I'm going to treat Thursday as OTD (the second date I was given). That'll be 13dt.
So frustrating that the doctors are moving so slowly to discharge your DH. I hope he gets out tomorrow and your flights get sorted so you can come home Tue/Wed. Nearly there now. You've been through such an ordeal, but you've done so well x

Thinking of you today @Enfys23 x

Gardenlady543 · 26/03/2023 08:48

@VenusStarr nothing happens in hospitals over weekends really so fingers crossed they speed up their pace from Monday. It's so strange because we left at the same time for a holiday and now I've been back a week and you're stuck out their still :( what an absolute nightmare.

Is today OTD @Enfys23 ?

@Faithhopelove83 are you waiting until Thursday to test?

Enfys23 · 26/03/2023 08:58

Devastated to say BFN today @Faithhopelove83 @Gardenlady543 thanks for thinking of me. Feel absolutely without hope today. Will try and regroup. It’s so hard to keep going. Just can’t imagine I’ll ever see two lines on a test after all these years of trying and now 4 transfers. Seems impossible right now.

Gardenlady543 · 26/03/2023 09:00

I'm sorry @Enfys23 it really sucks :( I always have a list of things I want to do to check/test/treat and I cope with the grief by keeping busying doing that, not that it's helped and I've kind of run out of things to check and do now.

seven201 · 26/03/2023 09:10

@Faithhopelove83 just popped on to see about your test day. I'm so sorry. It's utterly shit. Have today to just be utterly miserable and when you're ready, pick yourself up again.

@VenusStarr sorry the weekend has meant nothing happens. What a nightmare!

VenusStarr · 26/03/2023 09:21

Thank you @thislittlebird yes, our last holiday before ttc 😪 I'm not even sure we will be able to ttc anytime soon, definitely not superovulation anyway.
He's so much better than last week, thank god.

He was on a drip again during the night to keep his fluids up, but think he's able to be off it during the day as he can drink and eat ok now.

I know @Gardenlady543 and @seven201 he saw the doctor for 2 minutes yesterday and then only saw a nurse once! He's at the quieter end of the ward (all private rooms) where people are waiting for discharge I think. Frustratingly 2 people were discharged yesterday, one was English and was going straight to the airport! 😔

@Enfys23 I am so sorry to hear this ❤️ give yourself some time and space and look after yourself. It's so hard x

🙏 @Faithhopelove83 xx

I am so sorry @Enfys23 , it's heartbreaking and so so hard. Hold each other close and take the time you need to grieve. You will get through this. Sending you a big hug x

2021ivfagain · 26/03/2023 11:59

@Enfys23 I’m sorry it was not the result you wanted. The process is so hard. Are you taking some time off IVF?

@VenusStarr Hospitals can be so frustrating. When my mum and dad were both in hospital, I used to look forward to Monday for things to move forward.

@Faithhopelove83 Have a good holiday and good luck with OTD. 13dpt seems like a good time. I’ve always had to wait until 14dpt so it’s very similar.

@Gardenlady543 How are you doing with antibiotics? I’m going to get tests done. Still on oral garlic tablets but not taking for long as worried about interactions. I space them apart as well so I can take my oral probiotics.

Gardenlady543 · 26/03/2023 13:53

@2021ivfagain I think as good as can be as metronidazole always makes me feel sick, I think I will do 5 days as treatment course is usually 5 to 7 and I don't technically have a full blown symptomatic infection. Took my last OCP yesterday so the countdown to CD1 has started.

thislittlebird · 26/03/2023 19:25

Sorry to everyone if I've missed your updates, I'm trying to skim through what I've missed.

@Faithhopelove83 sorry for the delay, I typed out a whole message and lost it. Can't remember how your last cycle was/where you're at but it sounds like you've had a transfer. How are you feeling about it? My NK cell result was 16% btw, and my doctor is entirely unbothered.

We're in limbo again. DH's results all came back fine, "incredibly good" DNA frag, nothing wrong with sexual health or karyotyping, reactive oxygen species was also fantastic. Just waiting to hear back from my clinic about what now.

When is your birthday btw? Mine is in May. We're going to Portugal for a few nights for that, and also booked a lovely cabin in the Lakes in July. I'm glad we've got something to look forward to because I'm not looking forward to more IVF, that's for sure.

@Enfys23 I'm sorry to hear your update, this really is an awful process. Look after yourself x

@VenusStarr Glad he's is making progress. Is there any estimate on you'll be allowed to fly home?

I have acupuncture tomorrow, can't even be bothered to go but I guess I will.

VenusStarr · 26/03/2023 19:32

That's positive news on your dh's tests @thislittlebird although really hard to be in limbo again.

We chased the insurance again today as it felt like we were in between no man's land. The insurance said they are going to look into flights for tomorrow (feel like this could be optimistic but I really hope that it could happen). Hopefully this will give the hospital the nudge they need to get the medical report and fit to fly sorted 🙏 but we won't know for certain til the morning. So I'll have to check out and then if it's not sorted, get a new room, again!

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 26/03/2023 19:37

Hopefully the insurance can exert some pressure @VenusStarr I'm sure they want you back asap to cut the costs.🤞 for you guys to be back in the UK tomorrow or the day after, bet you will be so happy when you step foot off the plane!!

VenusStarr · 26/03/2023 19:49

Definitely @Gardenlady543 I can't wait. Feel a bit emotional thinking about it. Feel very homesick now. I've not really processed any of what's happened. I think the insurance are sick of me calling so probably going to push to not have to speak to me again! 🙈 I've been very polite but there's some case managers who recognise me before I've even said my name 😅 😬

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 27/03/2023 16:53

Any progress today @VenusStarr ?

How is everyone doing? I'm feeling quite anxious now my OCP course is over and I guess it's not been great the last few months, with the surgery and then the first positive I've ever had which then slipped away as quickly as it came and then the cancelled cycle. Pretty much if it could have gone, it has gone wrong, and when I start a cycle now I have to start it knowing that all these disasters could happen again.

I have also been feeling the need to offset my fertility costs with things I want so I have ordered a walking pad, my main concern is that I won't use it because I'm lazy and I feel the fact it needs to be moved a lot and I won't be able to lift in cycles would mean I have another excuse to avoid using it. I have heard that people like putting on headphones and pretending they are a runway model on walking pads though, so I guess I could do that when it arrives.

VenusStarr · 27/03/2023 17:30

Yes, we have progress! He's discharged 🙌🙌 fly home late Wednesday. Had to move hotels, again! 5th one 🤦🏻‍♀️ this one's nice and peaceful though, lovely gardens and views.

It's so hard to keep going @Gardenlady543 especially when you been through so much ❤️ I hope this next cycle goes smoothly xx

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 27/03/2023 18:25

Oh nice @VenusStarr can you have a nice mini little holiday now and pretend you haven't just had to go through a traumatic hospital ordeal !

seven201 · 27/03/2023 20:51

@VenusStarr finally!!! So glad you've made some progress and a flight home booked! I'm glad you have a nice hotel to just be in for tomorrow. Try and recover a bit now there's a plan.

@Gardenlady543 I've never heard of a walking pad. I'm not going to Google it in case I want one! Sorry about the anxious feelings. Get another craft project on the go maybe. I did some painting by numbers with my dd this evening and it was far from relaxing as she kept making a mess Confused

Faithhopelove83 · 29/03/2023 12:03

Thank you @2021ivfagain 🙂. We are having a lovely time away, thanks. It's just what we needed. Enjoying the peacefulness of the countryside and limiting my phone usage (which is good, as it stops me crazily Dr Googling all the time!). Not long to go now. Hope you're well x

Thank you @VenusStarr 🙏🙂. So pleased to hear your DH has been discharged at last and you get to fly home today!! It must have felt at times that this day would never come. I hope you have a good journey home and lots of cat cuddles waiting for you x

Great to hear from you @thislittlebird 🙂. That's ok, I get lost where everyone is at too.
So I've been ttc for 6.5 years now and have had 3 MCs along the way. I had 2 cycles of IVF last year - SP (1 blast - BFN) and then LP (5 blasts - 1 MC and 4 frozen) - and I've recently had my first FET (double transfer). This time, we've added in Intralipids, Prednisolone and Inhixa, as well as Lubion and pessaries. 12dpt today and OTD tomorrow. I'm a mixed bag of emotions.
Great news about your DH's results! Does this mean you can move forward with further IVF? And will that mean a fresh cycle?
My birthday is in July. It's sad, I've told my DH I don't want to celebrate or do anything unless I'm pregnant, but I think I need to take a leaf out of your book - Portugal and the Lakes sounds amazing! ☀x

Faithhopelove83 · 29/03/2023 12:11

That's good news you can soon start a new cycle @Gardenlady543 though I understand the anxieties - the more you go through, the more you are aware what can go wrong. Remind me please, is it a natural modified FET cycle? Have you been able to discuss your concerns with your consultant and are they changing anything this time? I hope it goes well x
