@seekingbabyk Hope you're having an amazing time in NY! Must be freeeezing there, cold enough here at the moment!

I had the scan yesterday, last one at my IVF clinic and now discharged to the NHS :) all looked good, had doubled in size and measuring bang on 8+2 weeks, good heart beat and even saw some little wriggles and tiny leg movements! Morning sickness finally kicking in now too which is strangely reassuring, I have to get up an hour early to be able to feel mostly normal and be on time for work, which means 5am for me.

@Tinkerbell098 Hope lining is good today so you can start next meds :)

Tinkerbell098 · 06/12/2022 09:57

@Imisscoffee2021 that is amazing to hear! Must have felt so special. Thanks I'm in the waiting room at the moment. Fingers crossed all ok for me to start. Not sure if they need bloods today as I'm wearing a long jumper but squeezed in a t shirt in my bag in case and I can change in the toilets.

@seekingbabyk hope you're having an amazing holiday! You deserve it X

@itshimi Yes I warmed it up yesterday and today and it's going in much nicer. The injection site hardly hurt yesterday. Before it hurt all day. So it must do the trick! Thanks so much :)
@seekingbabyk I looove New York! Have the best time. Must be magical in the Christmas period!
@Imisscoffee2021 wow that sounds so lovely. I'm so glad everything is going so well. I was thinking once you get to this stage you must actually be weirdly happy about and appreciative of morning sickness as it is the best sign and a big fat proof everythng is working as it should! Booo about the 5am start though ouch.
@Tinkerbell098 good luck with the scan 🍀

Tinkerbell098 · 06/12/2022 11:26

@Honeybunie thanks!

All ok with the scan for me to start the oestrogen tablets. Transfer day provisionally booked for 22nd.

@Tinkerbell098 woohoo 👏👏congrats on reaching the next stage 🤗

Tinkerbell098 · 06/12/2022 13:04

@Honeybunie thanks! also I asked about ovulation and nurse said they don't worry about ovulation on a medicated cycle as it's all controlled through drugs and transfer is not dependent on ovulation. So all they care about is the lining.

OP posts:
Honeybunie · 06/12/2022 13:17

@Tinkerbell098 interesting! I just remembered that actually in my failed medicated cycle, when I went for the day 12 scan and they saw that there was an active follicle about to pop, they took my blood to check my LH level as well. and they rang me the next day to tell me LH was super high, so I was ovulating, then they told me to abandon the cycle.

Tinkerbell098 · 06/12/2022 13:24

@Honeybunie oh that's frustrating! I think that's why they've given me ganirelex to suppress ovulation ( I have to take injections for the first five days of my cycle). It's interesting how different clinics have different protocols.

OP posts:
Honeybunie · 06/12/2022 13:33

@Tinkerbell098 yeah it was disappointing, but I was glad I could squeeze another try in before christmas break, and as the lining was too thin as well, i thought it better to try again properly. yeah the protocols are really quite different aren't they. are you in an NHS or a private clinic? I'm with an NHS womens' hospital fertility clinic.

Tinkerbell098 · 06/12/2022 13:55

@Honeybunie I'm with NHS. Had my first fresh transfer back in sept which ended in an early miscarriage. This is my first and only frozen transfer. If this fails, I'll have to go private.

OP posts:
Honeybunie · 06/12/2022 15:25

@Tinkerbell098 I'm so sorry you miscarried. How far in were you? can't imagine how hard that must be.
Same here. I also only had two embryos of okay ish quality, one transfered in August, the frozen one now. I'll also go private if this one doesn't work, but staying with the same NHS clinic. I'm thinking to buy a two cycle package for peace of mind. I'm turning 38 in Feb, so things aren't gonna get easier.

Tinkerbell098 · 07/12/2022 09:41

@Honeybunie I was 6+2 when I found out, so must have happened about 3-4 days earlier as I had some really bad cramping that week (got a bit unbearable at one point). It was horrible. Was the first BFP I've ever had in my life. I'm ok now. Took me a while to get over it to be honest. I was also thinking about a 2 cycle package as it would ease the pressure a little bit. I've got some savings that I've put aside just in case, but hoping I don't need to. I'm not too far behind you. I'm 37, turning 38 next year.

Woke up with the worst headache and a sore throat! Right when I've started my treatment. Really hope it would go away in the next couple of days. We've got a spa day booked tomorrow that we had planned ages ago, so really hope I can still enjoy that and not be ill.

OP posts:
Honeybunie · 07/12/2022 10:32

@Tinkerbell098 I'm so sorry. That would take a while to get over.. or make your peace with it.. such a low after such a high. The positive side I guess is that you know you can get pregnant okay, so your body is working. Just need to find the perfect embryo now ❤
Yeah I've also got my savings ready to go. I have the feeling it hasn't worked again this time. So I'm already mapping out the dates of when I can do my next cycle.
Oh nooooo! there is tons of illnesses going around at the moment aren't there. I hope you don't get worse! And can enjoy the spa day tomorrow. I've been feeling a little meh as well since Saturday. But so far it hasn't gotten worse than a cold thank godness.

Tinkerbell098 · 07/12/2022 13:09

@Honeybunie oh no! Sorry you feel it hasn't worked. Why do you think that? Have you tested?

For you FET ladies, how long did you have to take oestrogen tablets for? I've been given a three month supply so really confused?

OP posts:
Imisscoffee2021 · 07/12/2022 13:26

@Tinkerbell098 you take them to 12 weeks, like the progesterone if you get a bfp :) x

seekingbabyk · 07/12/2022 13:36

@Imisscoffee2021 awwww congratulations on getting to the next step. Every bit is like an accomplishment is t it but that's amazing you are now under nhs. You must be feeling relieved now!

@Tinkerbell098 that's great news you got the go ahead and 22nd booked in! Make sure you plan to take it easy in the bit of time after. My last couple of days before Xmas are usually quite stressful so definitely get your OH to do all the running around!

@Honeybunie what's making you feel like it hadn't worked? Try to keep positive - I know we all do this guarding ourselves thing but I'm keeping everything crossed for you!

NYC is amazing. Last full day today so going shopping, rockerfeller and ice skating. Did 25,000 steps yesterday and I think my body is ready for a day of sitting on a plane tomorrow. We honestly haven't stopped. The weather is actually warm here like 13-14 degrees but raining yesterday. Definitely a bit in love with NYC though - completely different to what I expected x

Tinkerbell098 · 07/12/2022 13:52

@Imisscoffee2021 thanks! that's really strange, I didn't think you'd need oestrogen for that long as well. Hope you're doing well X

@seekingbabyk aww glad you're having a great time. I went about 10 years ago for my birthday and loved it so much. Always wanted to do ice skating there but I went in the summer. Enjoy every minute of it. Yes I've told my OH that I won't be doing anything after transfer, so told him we need to get the house ready for guests the weekend before and all the shopping done before transfer day.

Just a general question - I was told no heavy lifting after my last transfer, but was never told what "heavy" meant. There are some mixed things online. Last time, I was carrying shopping and doing some cleaning around the house (not massively heavy things and not for too long). What is allowed and what is not allowed, does anyone know? Just want to prepare myself for the busy period.

Honeybunie · 07/12/2022 14:35

@Tinkerbell098 @seekingbabyk No I haven't tested yet. I'll wait until Saturday. Just been taking my temp in the moring (old habbit from TTC naturally) and it hasn't changed. I'm thinking it should increase if implantation happened (which should have happened by now). And the uterus should raise if it implanted and it hasn't. And I feel no different, that's why I think it hasn't worked. I know there might still be a little chance, but it's just a gut feeling I guess. And the second embryo definitely didn't look as good on screen as the first so I think it might not have been good enough or right. and yes I know I'm also guarding my feelings and preparing myself mentally so I'm not as upset as last time.

@Tinkerbell098 I was also surprised to learn that you need to take the progynova until week 12!
Re lifting heavy. I was wondering exactly the same last weekend after my transfer! I was looking forward to staying in and doing stuff around the house and had a long list. But in the end I let my OH do most of it and decided to do very little just in case. I was even worried about carrying the basket with wet laundry out, so had him do everything, which I enjoyed too hehe 😄so I really held myself back, just in case. we also went shopping and I only carried the light stuff and I decided against cleaning the house.

I went to NYC 4 years ago around the 4th of July. It was so hot, about 38 degrees every day. it was absolutely amazing. Actually watched a world cup game where the Rockerfeller Center Ice Rink is in the winter with a cold Mojito in hand hehe. Good times. Loved it so much and I normally hate big cities. I really wanna go back one day x

seekingbabyk · 07/12/2022 14:44

Wow @Honeybunie 38 degrees I can't even imagine that here! We go to Florida a lot but everywhere has air con so it's easy to cope with it but here is more like london with the air con do must be unbearable on the subway, etc. would definitely like to do a warmer time of year next time though just to do Central Park in the sun and some of the rooftop bars, etc.

I think with lifting I would treat it like a c section recovery where they say nothing heavier than the baby. So thinks like hoovering, making a dinner, etc I would think would be ok but heavy wet washing, lifting a big Turkey out of the oven, I would probably avoid. And i think we all need to let hubbys and boyfriends do more of this stuff anyway so just enjoy it!

Tinkerbell098 · 07/12/2022 16:00

@Honeybunie @seekingbabyk thanks, I shall aim to get all the laundry, cleaning and shopping done before transfer and anything remaining hubby would need to take over. Sounds like a busy two weeks for me!

OP posts:
Tinkerbell098 · 07/12/2022 16:02

@Honeybunie did they grade your embryo? I think any embryo has a chance of implanting. Don't lose hope yet, stay positive and see how it goes. We'll all be here for you when you do decide to test X

Just catching up with the messages. My cycle started today - it was due next week and I haven't received my meds yet 🫣

The clinic have said I can begin treatment on cycle day 3, Saturday. And they'll send the meds tomorrow. The EC will fall over the Christmas period and they didn't allow me to start the cycle on Friday due to that.

Has anyone started stims on cycle day 3? I'm just fretting over small things I think.

@Imisscoffee2021 yay! That's wonderful news - glad everything is going well!

@Honeybunie I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you this month. It's a disappointing feeling when it doesn't work, but glad your looking onwards if it hasn't (fingers crossed it has!)🤞🏼🤞🏼

Tinkerbell098 · 07/12/2022 17:44

@MinBins i started my previous cycle on day 3. I think my clinic said anywhere between day 2-6.

OP posts:
MinBins · 07/12/2022 18:13

Ah that's reassuring thank you. I'm excited hoping it all goes okay this time.

seekingbabyk · 08/12/2022 10:06

@MinBins I started on day 3 too. They scanned me on day 2 and made me wait because the lining was still too thick x
