FET in September/October

I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

@LT103 so pleased everything seems to be going well. And gosh 9 weeks!

I’m 4+4 today. Second beta was 1472, from 298 on Friday, so it’s more than doubled and I couldn’t be happier. Will try and live in the bubble as long as possible!

LT103 · 31/10/2022 19:21

@OrangeBengal those are amazing numbers!!!

sailinginthemed · 31/10/2022 20:04

I’m glad to hear that your research shows it’s not an issue. I researched toxoplasmosis the other day and worked and found out that even if I are raw meat my chance of getting it from a one of time would only be 1/3000. I’ll take that!

@Kelvie103 that line really touched me, thank you for sharing it. ❤️❤️❤️ I agree if the clinic are happy with the numbers it’s a good sign

@OrangeBengal Those sound like excellent numbers 👍

@LT103 We are also going to book a private scan at 9 weeks. I hope the days pass quickly for you till Friday when you get to see your bean again ❤️

sailinginthemed · 31/10/2022 20:05

I meant I’m glad to hear your research showed the scan image is not an issue for @chloedancer88 x

Sorry for typos!

MyEasterEggs · 31/10/2022 21:59

Good to see some of you having a positive start to the week. I’ve gone down a baby naming rabbit hole tonight since I’m feeling hopeful. Sometimes it’s nice to imagine what could be. Makes a change from a slightly more frenetic couple of weeks of spotting and scanning!

I was originally due to have my next scan this Friday but since I was in a few days ago we agreed on 10 weeks, which is 2.5 weeks away. Part of me wonders if I should ask to go back at 8.5 weeks for added reassurance. Having had missed miscarriages at 8 and 10 weeks I think it makes sense.

That’s nice @MyEasterEggs, best bit :) I actually named my embryo, something @thislittlebird gave me the idea for. The visualisation I’ve been doing since CD1 gets you to imagine your child too, which is much easier if it has a name. At first I was going to pick one of my second tier names, but as an act of faith (in a non-religious sense) I picked the one I really wanted and so far, so good!

It seems like you want to go back at 8.5wks and 10.5wks as these are key milestones. So if you can, you should.

If all goes well at my 7wk scan, I’m hoping to do an NHS scan alongside their Edwards and Pataus test around 10wks and then the Harmony and nuchal scan at 11+5. Not really sure how to go about organising the NHS stuff though as I think we’ll only be with them for a few weeks and private from 12wks.

Kelvie103 · 01/11/2022 09:47

It's nice to be able to feel a bit of positivity and excitement sometimes amidst all the worry. We pretty much decided on a name for a boy a year ago when we went for our first iui. If we have a girl though I have no idea how we'll choose since we seem to not like everything the other suggests.

Assuming my 7 week scan goes well I'll probably look at booking another private one around 10 weeks. It's too long to go without knowing otherwise. I was doing a bit of research on the harmony test last night. No idea what the NHS offers but I think I really want to get it done as soon as I can. Not sure how to broach the subject with my husband though since it's quite expensive to get it done privately. For some reason I'm just really worried about having a downs syndrome or similar diagnosis. I think because we both agreed before ivf that we wouldn't proceed if that was the case but its different talking about it in theory compared to actually being pregnant.

OrangeBengal · 01/11/2022 10:15

Yes it is a difficult one @Kelvie103, but we’re the same as you, hence both PGS and Harmony, it’s pretty unlikely due to already having this embryo tested that it’ll have one of the main three trisomies, but of course something else could be wrong. I think the Harmony (has to be private unless NHS standard tests say you’re very likely to be affected I think) is better the later you leave it. I’m going to exclude the downs test from my NHS test as apparently this isn’t as good as the Harmony and I don’t want to worry for no reason.

Most of ‘our’ names are unisex btw :) I did ask my husband if he wanted to name the embryo with me, but he was being dissociative at the time, so he left it to me and he can’t really argue now. Thankfully he likes the name!

sailinginthemed · 01/11/2022 11:16

I love the idea of naming the embryo. DH has vetoed a lot of the boy names I like and neither of us can decide on a girls name! I think I will start to look at rare names today and see if any of those resonate.

We want to do the Panorama test at 10 weeks for peace of mind, they seem to have package deals with the scan and the test but I’m thinking of asking if I can separate them and have the scan at 9 weeks and the test at 10 week 🤞Just don’t wNt to wait another week

OrangeBengal · 01/11/2022 11:36

Ha, yes I went rare, basically looked at the top 100 in the UK and US avoided those! Though there is something to be said about a classic name of course. Can I ask why the Panorama over the Harmony @sailinginthemed?

sailinginthemed · 01/11/2022 13:47

It’s a hard choice. I’ve been swaying a lot, but because we have already done PGTA testing Harmony basically tests for the same conditions I believe so Downs, Pataus, Edwards…whereas Panorama covers these and micro deletions so 22q11.2 deletion (DiGeorge) syndrome, 1p36 deletion, Angelman syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Cri-du-chat syndrome.

The reason I say it is a hard choice is I’ve heard very mixed reports on the effectiveness of Panorama and apparently it has a high false positive rate compared to Harmony…but it’s the only test that checks for micro deletions that I’m aware of…admittedly there is far less chance of micro deletions at any rate - DiGeorge has a 1/2000 chance and the other conditions have even less chance, up to 1/20000. But I just want to do the most comprehensive test for peace of mind despite its failings. I just hope it doesn’t end up causing me unnecessary worry with a false positive… Our infertility is completely unexplained also, even after all this time (about five years) so I guess I’m nervous some random genetic issue may be at play.

sailinginthemed · 01/11/2022 13:47

Sorry forgot to tag @OrangeBengal

OrangeBengal · 01/11/2022 14:06

Seems like we’re pretty much in the same boat @sailinginthemed (unexplained, PGS), so yes maybe the Panorama makes more sense for me too, I read it also tests for Triploidy, which came up in podcast I listen to. Maybe I skip the NHS one completely and just do the general check-up stuff with them go private for the Panorama. That would make things simpler too. Where are you thinking of getting it done?

MyEasterEggs · 01/11/2022 15:55

I’m hoping to have the Panorama too. We have concerns around false positives but since you can have the test as soon as 9 weeks (a week sooner than others I think?) it should be more accurate at 10.5 weeks. We had a loss due to trisomy 15 and our abnormal embryos had complex issues including trisomies and missing chromosomes so it makes sense to do the additional checks in some cases.

Our embaby was Junebug which isn’t very original 😄 I didn’t want to get too attached to this pregnancy but I feel really positive this week and hope I can hold onto that feeling 💛 also appreciating having you all to check in with it’s been such a lovely, supportive thread!

OrangeBengal · 01/11/2022 16:35

Ah nice @MyEasterEggs, lots of places you can go with Junebug: June / Juno (was on my list) / Juniper / Jun and I’m sure many more :)

I think you’ve both won me around to the Panorama btw, thanks.

sailinginthemed · 01/11/2022 16:52

@MyEasterEggs Junebug is cute and agree June is lovely. I like seasonal names so Winter I think is really pretty. DH is not keen 😂 When I was young I loved the name Clemmie but I’ve gone off it now. For years that was the name I’d imagined so I’m back to square one 😂

@OrangeBengal Yes we sound like we are in a very similar boat. We are in London so I hope this is relevant… We are thinking to go to the Fetal Medical centre for an ultrasound scan at 9 weeks (£120) then to Woman’s health Dulwich to do the full Panorama test for £450.
www.womenshealthdulwich.com/services/panorama-test-vistara-test/

I was going to get a package deal of ultrasound with the blood test but couldn’t find one for less than £850 for the full Panorama test x

MyEasterEggs · 01/11/2022 17:56

That was just the nickname for the little bean since baby is due mid June. Sorry for any confusion 😆

My friend’s little one is called Juno. It’s such a cute name, also quite spunky. Our name choices are typically “older”. Iris is probably my favourite for a girl since it has a special meaning and a similar sound to the name we chose for our son who we lost six years ago during pregnancy. It would also go well with her sister’s name! But I’m not sure on boys names at all…

OP posts:
sailinginthemed · 01/11/2022 20:23

@MyEasterEggs Iris is lovely…Simple and elegant.

Terrible nausea this evening. The only thing that helps my nausea is eating but I’ve managed to put on about 6lbs already and I’m only 8 weeks pregnant’ I on a healthy diet when TTC and at a good BMI but my body craved monster munch yesterday, Knick knacks the day before and beef hula hoops today. 🫢I’m just needing crisps! Such a strong desire for crisps

Kelvie103 · 01/11/2022 21:19

@sailinginthemed that's interesting you're craving crisps. I'm not normally a big crisp eater but I seem to be going for them too. Only ready salted or salt and vinegar though. Strangest thing for me is from 3 days after transfer I went off chocolate. I'm a huge chocoholic normally but just havn't fancied it at all. It's so strange as it doesn't make me feel sick or taste horrible or anything and yet I just don't want it and at the same time miss it as it's normally my go to comfort food.

OrangeBengal · 01/11/2022 21:23

Ha, so cravings are in then @sailinginthemed?! I expect that’s to come, though I might have had my first aversion today. I smelt some (cows) milk that seemed fine, but once I’d made polenta with it it just tasted wrong, so I had to throw it away. It might not have been the milk as there were other things in the polenta, but seems the most likely suspect, that one would would be majorly inconvenient though. I mostly drink oat milk, but do always save cow’s milk for the goodies: hot chocolate, polenta, yummy patisseries!

chloedancer88 · 01/11/2022 21:24

@sailinginthemed I'm craving salty snacks too! I've put on 4kg since finding out. It feels like mostly bloat 😂

SL42smbc · 02/11/2022 09:26

Hi all,
No cravings yet for me just strong foods giving me more nausea. Had my viability scan today. There is a fetus in the sack!!!! Ive had a blighted ovum in the past so it was great to see little Bun (my brothers picked a nickname) in there. Measuring at 7 weeks (if going by the start of my cycle it should be 7 + 2) not worried however as I felt implantation 10dpo so it probably makes sense. Also got to see the heartbeat, it's 156bmp. So all of this is so positive... just looking forward to getting to the second trimester and good chromosomal test results then I can get fully excited.

OrangeBengal · 02/11/2022 11:48

Exciting @SL42smbc, I can’t wait to get to that milestone, it’s hard to know what to do now, apart from just assuming everything is going alright in there. I did a digital pregnancy test on Monday, getting a dye-stealer on a FR the day before. So I think that’s it for testing, especially as my betas were really good. But in a way the testing is the only way to know their still in there. My scan isn’t until the 18th, which is a lot of waiting!!

Not sure I have any name suggestions off the back of ‘Bun’ btw ;)

MyEasterEggs · 02/11/2022 12:14

Good news @SL42smbc and glad things are progressing well for you too @OrangeBengal. Hope everyone else is doing okay.

I get a taste for lemons during pregnancy and had a moment last week where I needed a thick yeo valley lemon yoghurt. It was pure relief when I had the first mouthful! My mum discovered she was pregnant with my brother because she had a craving for pork pies. She loved them when she was expecting me 😆

Have to say the indigestion this time around is awful and it doesn’t seem to be triggered by any particular foods. I’m up at least twice in the night with that and to pee but it’s also reassuring so I’m just trying to ride it out as best I can with remedies!
