Hi ladies! 👋
Just as the post says... cycle day 1 of my first IVF round, 20 days until I start Norethisterone then Menopur & Fyremadel.
Looking for others starting cycle or in the cycle for some company.
Sending lots of luck to you all! ❤️

Good luck @acaciabluebell

Imisscoffee2021 · 30/08/2022 08:39

@acaciabluebell best of luck today! X

Imisscoffee2021 · 30/08/2022 09:27

Well I had the dreaded phonecall today about fertilisation ... from 7 eggs collected...7 were mature ... and all 7 fertilised!! 100% fertilisation rate! I'm so happy, I know it doesn't mean they'll develop so I'm going to be realistic but to get such good news at this stage is just amazing, first good fertility related news we've had in 16 months 😅 my husband is so happy too, such a high today!

seekingbabyk · 30/08/2022 09:37

@Imisscoffee2021 omg that AMAZING- so happy for you! How are you feeling today from the EC?

Imisscoffee2021 · 30/08/2022 09:39

@seekingbabyk thank you! So happy to have avoided that first stage of attrition, can't believe it :)

I'm feeling much better, still a touch sore and bloated but I'm on progesterone now so that's not going anywhere. I'm back at work today but taking it easy!

seekingbabyk · 30/08/2022 09:43

@Imisscoffee2021 I'm truly made up for you! You could end up not even needing any more stims from that! Did you have ICSI?

Imisscoffee2021 · 30/08/2022 09:50

@seekingbabyk yeah we had to have ICSI has husbands parameters all very low due to the varicocele, morphology 1% so we're not out of the woods yet, expecting some drop off with embryos but 7 at least gives us a good shot of one to get to blasto, I hope!

seekingbabyk · 30/08/2022 10:02

@Imisscoffee2021 you have a great chance I'll keep everything crossed for you

Tinkerbell098 · 30/08/2022 14:05

@acaciabluebell best of luck today XX

@Imisscoffee2021 yey! that is amazing news! Hope you are feeling better and getting some rest XX

Imisscoffee2021 · 30/08/2022 15:58

Thanks @Tinkerbell098 ! Have you heard about next month for your cycle yet? Do the timings match a bit better in Sept?

@RMS0209 as the OP I'm wondering how you're getting on? I remember you were due scans in early Sept, hope all is well!

acaciabluebell · 30/08/2022 16:16

Thank you for your kind wishes ladies. Egg collection went well. I was unexpectedly in a lot of pain afterwards but that's gotten a lot better now. We managed to get 9 eggs which is exactly what we expected, so we are pleased with that.

On the downside, we found out this morning that not doing a fresh transfer means we miss out on half of our NHS funding (which is for one fresh and one frozen). I thought since it was their decision that they would let me have 2 frozen transfers instead, but turns out that's not the case. So after that, we were really hoping my lining would have grown and we could do a fresh. But after the surgery they told my lining was still too thin 😭 And no chance of a fresh. So that was really hard, hearing all the other patients getting their transfer instructions and we had to just sit there. Sigh.

Imisscoffee2021 · 30/08/2022 16:38

@acaciabluebell fabulous to get 9 eggs and I'm sorry they've taken that possibility of two tries away, it really should be interchangeable! I hope you're successful on your first FET, and you can always pay for a private transfer on others you get in case, I know its pricey at around 2k per transfer but much cheaper than IVF. Hope you recover well from EC, I found I got worse in afternoon but today just a bit sore and that's it. Are you having just classical IVF fertilisation rather than ICSI?

Can progesterone pessaries not encourage uterine lining or is it too little time for that?

acaciabluebell · 30/08/2022 16:41

@Imisscoffee2021 We are doing ICSI as we have significant male factor infertility. So I'm really hoping that all 9 were mature so they can be injected! Won't know until tomorrow now.

I honestly thought progesterone would thicken my lining but they didn't even suggest it and I was too out of it at the time to ask any questions :/

seekingbabyk · 30/08/2022 17:49

@acaciabluebell I'm glad everything went well and that's a great number of eggs! Keeping everything crossed for you!

I'm sorry about the nhs funding/transfer issue. It doesn't even make sense for them to do that! But as @Imisscoffee2021 says at least you have that bit out of the way and can go privately for transfers if you need to.

How are you feeling now?

acaciabluebell · 30/08/2022 18:08

Thanks @seekingbabyk! I'm feeling much better now, not much pain at all and I'm up and around the house. Recovery time seems to be very quick for egg collection which is good! I'm sure yours will go amazing tomorrow xx

seekingbabyk · 30/08/2022 18:09

Awww thanks @acaciabluebell I just want it out of the way now my hormones are all over the place today just need some normality back in my life 😂

Keeping everything crossed for you for your call tomorrow x

Imisscoffee2021 · 31/08/2022 08:25

Good luck today @seekingbabyk xx

seekingbabyk · 31/08/2022 08:35

@Imisscoffee2021 thank you x

Tinkerbell098 · 31/08/2022 10:22

@seekingbabyk good luck today X

@acaciabluebell that's a great number. Good luck for the call today X

@Imisscoffee2021 I won't know yet, will need to ring up again on day 1 and they'll let me know if they can fit me in. Their process is very stressful in my mind. They still haven't rescheduled my counselling session either so I'm not impressed!

seekingbabyk · 31/08/2022 12:24

@Imisscoffee2021 @acaciabluebell so I'm all done and 7 eggs retrieved. Bit gutted about that as we had 15 follicles but I know 7 is still good. Hubbys first sample wasn't good which is weird as he's had three tests in past and all fine. He's now done a second one which looks better. Probably looking at ICSI too.

If anyone else reading this is worried about sedation I can't explain how nervous I was - heart rate was 120 before going in! It was fine though I don't remember a thing and feel absolutely fine now a couple of hours later.

Have you heard today @acaciabluebell ?

acaciabluebell · 31/08/2022 12:28

Not great news today. Out of 9 eggs only 5 were mature and only 3 fertilised with ICSI. Feel like I've lost all hope in this working.
Next call will be on day 3. Hope you girls have better news than me.

seekingbabyk · 31/08/2022 12:32

@acaciabluebell I don't think you should feel gutted about that. 3 could get through to day 5 now too. Keep positive and I'll keep everything crossed for you x

Imisscoffee2021 · 31/08/2022 15:22

@acaciabluebell So sorry you keep meeting hurdles, I know how hard it is to bounce back each time and have to recalibrate expectations. Three zygotes can become blastocysts though, there are so many threads on this forum where people have been disappointed and then get pregnant with only a few fertilised eggs. Fingers crossed for day 3 update x

acaciabluebell · 31/08/2022 15:31

Thank you @Imisscoffee2021 it really is. I had 20 follicles the day before trigger and to now only have 3 in the running is a big pill to swallow. Hoping we will at least be able to freeze some despite the odds being stacked against us. If we were having a fresh transfer I would have been more hopeful as could have had a day 3 transfer. But my clinic only freeze embryos if they are top quality on day 5. It's a lot to get my head around.

Imisscoffee2021 · 31/08/2022 18:11

@acaciabluebell did they give you any feedback about the rate of attrition? Like follicle size, drug dose etc? I read some triggers sometimes dont mature eggs as fast as others.

I hope your three fertilised embabies grow strong, I know its not the amount you wanted but there's three little bits of you and your DH growing out there, it's amazing!
