Hi ladies! 👋
Just as the post says... cycle day 1 of my first IVF round, 20 days until I start Norethisterone then Menopur & Fyremadel.
Looking for others starting cycle or in the cycle for some company.
Sending lots of luck to you all! ❤️

Happy transfer day @1stcycle @Tinkerbell098 🥳

Tinkerbell098 · 28/09/2022 09:24

Thanks all! Just in the waiting room now. Nervous AF!!

@1stcycle I know I’m busting for a wee now! All the best ❤️

Decaffe · 28/09/2022 10:20

Just had my scan. My follicle sizes are:

19
18
16
14
14
12
8

They are not sure whether to trigger tonight or tomorrow night and say it depends on the blood test (estradial? estrogen?).

They like the follicles to be over 17mm but I’m not sure if that’s on trigger day or collection day.

If I get a phone call later following blood results then I’m triggering today, if no phone call then I’m triggering tomorrow.

Does anyone have any thoughts on my numbers? 😊

Imisscoffee2021 · 28/09/2022 10:50

@Decaffe , mine were similar! I was triggered that evening as they grow a but more and they don't want them to go over mature, 22mm thereabouts. The smaller caught up in my case, hope yours do too! They're all quite similar in size so you've reacted well to stims by the look of it :)

1stcycle · 28/09/2022 11:44

@Decaffe mine were similar to yours too, they will grow a little before egg collection too. Exciting not long now!

@Tinkerbell098 how did your transfer go? Mine went fine was pretty quick, needed a wee the whole time haha! They didn’t tell me the grading of the one they put in but the other two they want to give another day and then hopefully be fine to freeze. Just happy that one made it to transfer at least, would be great to have some Frosties though!

Decaffe · 28/09/2022 14:16

Hope everything went well for you @Tinkerbell098, I have been refreshing the thread hoping to see how you’re doing. Hope all is ok and you’re taking it easy now.

Well done @1stcycle, can I say that ‘now you can relax’ a little? So pleased you have one on board on fingers crossed two in the freezer as well.

Thanks for the reassurance @Imisscoffee2021 that is good to know. It’s always nice to get feedback and share experiences with others.

This is such a lovely thread everyone, thank you so much for the support 😢

Well I have been googling hard as you can all imagine 😂 and I think I’d be fine with triggering either tonight or tomorrow really. If it’s tonight then my largest follicles would probably be ok, if it’s tomorrow then the large ones may be too large but hopefully the one that’s currently 12 will have grown. I was going to write “it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other,” no pun intended! 🥚

No phone call yet though so it’ll probably be one more day of stims with trigger tomorrow and egg collection on Saturday. Do you think I’d need Monday off in that case?

Also, a more general question but how is everyone managing to work full time?? Are you finding it tough going? Not just the practical side of it like all the appointments, but the emotional rollercoaster and the physical soreness etc. I’m finding it hard going.

seekingbabyk · 28/09/2022 14:21

@1stcycle @Tinkerbell098 happy transfer day! It's such a relief after when you know the hard bit is done with all of the appointments and it's just a waiting game. Although the next couple of weeks dragged for me - just try to keep busy and schedule lots of relaxing stuff like box set binges and nice meals out.

@Decaffe I think mine were similar too - exciting stuff for you for the next few days!

Big sprinkle of baby dust for you all x

1stcycle · 28/09/2022 14:32

@Decaffe that’s great news! To be honest the recovery after EC was quick for me, I felt fine on the actual day, I had a few cramps the second day which was a Saturday and I had a wedding so I took paracetamols then I was fine after that. So I guess if you have plenty of holidays and you want an extra day of rest then it’s no harm taking the day off, but if don’t have many left like me I think you will be fine (depending on your job I guess, mine is office/WFH so it’s not strenuous)
I WFH 3 days a week so have found that’s helped a little, less driving, can relax a bit more at home (in pjs and a jumper haha) but yes I have found it hard going some days and getting tired now, which is probably the progesterone.

@seekingbabyk thanks, I need a good new box set to watch…any suggestions? Xxx

seekingbabyk · 28/09/2022 14:33

@1stcycle what sort of thing do you like watching?

Decaffe · 28/09/2022 15:35

Just had the call and I’m to stim for another day, plus a bonus Cetrotide on top… I’m presuming that is to try to stop the large ones getting too big but to encourage the smaller ones to catch up?

Egg collection Saturday so presumably transfer will be on Thursday all being well. My lining this morning was 11.8.

I can’t tell you how much I want to dig into some chocolate and a glass of wine!!

Tinkerbell098 · 28/09/2022 15:59

Thanks everyone! Transfer went ok. Was really quick! Literally 10 mins and I was out. The hardest part was trying not to wee! I was told the one they put in was a hatching blastocyst so was looking good. They’ve got another one that’s a little bit lower in quality but still good to freeze. They’re going to leave two more until tomorrow to decide if they’re freeze worthy or not. One is out. So overall, I may have at least one good frozen one.

@Decaffe your follicle sizes are similar to mine. They made me take an additional stims dose that night, then leave about 5-6 hours and then do the trigger. I think it’s a tough call, but either should be fine I think. Regarding appointments and work, I work from home, so wasn’t too bad. I took egg collection day off and transfer day and I’m also taking tomorrow off. Physically, I felt fine, was a bit sore on collection day but it eased off pretty quickly in the next couple of days. Not sore enough not to work. But I don’t have a physically demanding job so it was easy.

@1stcycle well done you! Yey for us! We went for breakfast straight after. Weirdly had a craving for the raw onions that came on the side of my OH’s dish. I hate onions but it’s as if my body said “have them! Have them!”. So strange! I’ve just had a nap in the afternoon and just lounging around now. Now the dreaded TWW! Happy birthday to you father in law!

MammyandAva · 28/09/2022 22:23

Good luck everyone on your transfers 🤞🏼

I have my first planning appointment with the nurse tomorrow for IVF short protocol - does anyone have any advice on what I should be asking/making sure I'm aware of please?

I'm hoping to start on this cycle, I believe I start treatment on day 21 but I'm not really sure what the process is at this point 🫣

Imisscoffee2021 · 28/09/2022 22:30

@MammyandAva Heya! On short protocol you usually start on cycle day 1, I think long protocol you do on day 21 as you downreg? Maybe it's a hybrid cycle, I did a short antagonist cycle for my first cycle.

Questions for the nurse is really knowing what the meds do and how to administer them, confirming abstinence length for hubby as that depends on sperm count, my husband was only 24 hours. Even though it was only last month I can barely remember my appointment 😅 feels like I've lived a lifetime since then. Some of the other ladies in the group will be nearer theirs and have more clear insight :) exciting to be nearly at the point of starting! X

1stcycle · 29/09/2022 06:27

@seekingbabyk i like anything really, but so like a detective kind of box set!

@Tinkerbell098 glad it all went well! I already can’t stop thinking about it and have 2 weeks of this lol!

@MammyandAva welcome to the chat. I think I did a similar thing to you. Originally I went in for my baseline scan the cycle before but one of my follicle’s was too big already to start so I then had to take provera for 7 days from day 19 of my next cycle to I guess suppress the cycle a little before the next one so my follicles didn’t grow so early. Then you have a period a few days after finishing it was the same as the short protocol ring on the first day of period to book in for a baseline scan. So it’s still short protocol, just a few meds a week or so before. Long protocol I believe is 4-6 weeks of injections etc.

Tinkerbell098 · 29/09/2022 07:18

@1stcycle did you sleep well last night? I’ve been up since 3 am thinking about my embaby! Glad I’m off work today. When is OTD for you? Mine is next Friday 7th. Eeek!!

@MammyandAva hi! I had short cycle this month so I had to ring up on day 1 of my cycle, have a scan on day 3 and start stims that day for about 9 days. It went by so fast! Questions to ask would be do’s and don’t see. I was told to give up coffee, no hot baths for OH, lots of walking to keep the blood flowing, etc. also just about your protocol, how long is it, what medications will you be taking an why, I also asked the percentage of treatment working on someone with my results. Good luck with appointment X

MammyandAva · 29/09/2022 07:24

@Tinkerbell098 thank you for your reply! I'm so confused as I was told I would start medication on day 21 🤦🏻‍♀️ My period has started this morning so if that's the case I'll miss this cycle 😭 is IVF short protocol and IVF lite the same thing? I'm guessing it is.

I'll make a list of the questions I need to ask, at least then I'll be prepared!

Thank you ☺️

Decaffe · 29/09/2022 08:07

Morning @MammyandAva, with my short protocol I started injections on day 2 and have had scans and blood tests on days 5, 8, 10 and this morning will be 11! I am triggering this evening if all is well this morning.

Decaffe · 29/09/2022 08:09

@Tinkerbell098 I have a stash of cheapie 10iu tests so I am going to start testing from tomorrow morning as a) I am curious to test out the trigger and b) I am impatient(!) and c) I feel daily testing will help me feel more in control of what’s happening… if it’s a ‘no’ this cycle I would much rather know in advance and have come to terms with it, than finding out in the clinic.

Imisscoffee2021 · 29/09/2022 08:34

@Decaffe That's exactly what I did, and although I saw my tests get darker then fade as it didn't progress, I'd do the same again on my frozen one as I hate the suspense of long waits! Couldn't wait til OTD. Enjoy being PUPO ladies!

seekingbabyk · 29/09/2022 08:38

@Tinkerbell098 @Decaffe @Imisscoffee2021 I would definitely do that next time too. I did my first test 5dpt and didn't test out trigger at all but all were negative. Definitely agree with the having control part.

MammyandAva · 29/09/2022 08:43

@Decaffe thank you your reply! I'm well and truly out this cycle then. I double checked this with the clinic as I'm away for my next cycle and the following will be Christmas so had my hopes up that I could start on this one.

Did you get your medication from the clinic or does it get delivered please?

1stcycle · 29/09/2022 09:12

@Tinkerbell098 I slept ok to be fair, few dreams about it though. Just waiting to hear about the 2 they left for another day. Have you heard anything yet? My OTD is the 9th!

@MammyandAva do you usually have a short cycle? What cycle day were you on before you came on this morning?

@Decaffe good luck for triggering tonight, and enjoy your day of no injections tomorrow! I tested out the trigger, I also was curious to see it turn positive but I didn’t do it every day, every couple of days, I knew I wanted to do it morning of egg transfer just so I knew where it was at that point and it was so light that it was nearly negative by then. I haven’t decided yet if I’ll test early yet. I know what I’m like and I’ll want to, and like you said sometimes easier knowing earlier on than getting more disappointed! @Tinkerbell098 will you be testing early or wait till OTD?

MammyandAva · 29/09/2022 09:16

@1stcycle no my cycles are pretty long - I was on day 37 yesterday but they always vary thanks to PCOS 😭

1stcycle · 29/09/2022 09:27

@MammyandAva ahh right, then maybe the medication on day 21 would kick start a next cycle. I’m sorry it’s a no for this cycle. I feel your frustration, I was the same when mine was postponed, you get yourself worked, excited, nervous to start and then disappointed. But then I just had to tell myself that it’s only going to have any chance of success if done right at the right time.

with regards to meds I had to order mine 2 weeks before expected start date and then they were delivered to my house. They called and booked a time and slot as you have to sign for them, and some of the meds needed to go in the fridge too.

MammyandAva · 29/09/2022 09:44

@1stcycle I find the communication with my clinic so difficult (getting hold of them) but I have called/emailed this morning just for some answers as it seems they've given me the incorrect information 😭
