I can't see that anyone else has started one yet, so I thought I may as well!

Just got my calendar through today and will be downregging in three weeks time, starting stims in late October, with EC provisionally in early November. This is my second round, which will now be ICSI-only after my last one ended up with a total fertilisation failure Sad

Anyone else on the same sort of timeframe?

@Tiger86 actually the clinic have just called & want me on Friday if my period comes as they want to do another scan so I think it's fine if you are bleeding

Tiger86 · 19/10/2021 19:13

@Reefy and @Frenchie86 thanks for your reply I think I will be bleeding on the first scan before starting treatment as last time I came off these meds I started 3 days after but then I got covid so had to postpone my treatment. Just thought it might be a bit awkward going for an internal scan while bleeding but I'm sure if they schedule people for these times they must be used to it will just have to get over my own awkwardness.

Frenchie86 · 19/10/2021 20:13

@Tiger86 yes exactly, they are used to it and you’ll get over the awkwardness really quickly too, they cover you etc so it all feels fine. Good luck!

Reefy · 20/10/2021 09:05

I'm not to sure what is happening with my cycle yet as had a baseline scan yesterday & they said they would expect my lining to be thicker then asked if I've ever been told I have cysts & how long I was taking Norethisterone which was 8 days this cycle & 10 last time which I did think to myself is it long enough but as they adjusted my Meds this time I guessed it was. She went to compare my scan to the last baseline scan & said it's not a lot of different but I'm now worried about it. I'm just waiting for AF to arrive which they estimate will be today or tomorrow then they called me & said if it comes they want to give scan me again Friday before I start stims Friday evening! Not feeling very positive about it all really.

PositiveeVibes · 20/10/2021 09:44

@Reefy aww no so sorry to hear that!☹️ Hope you have a better scan on Friday and you can start stims, it’s such an unknown process and waiting game!

Reefy · 20/10/2021 09:59

@PositiveeVibes thank you I'm trying not to think about it. AF has just arrived so let's see what Friday brings

Frenchie86 · 20/10/2021 10:33

@Reefy sorry it's stressful, hope your Friday scan goes better. The emotional side of things is so much harder than the physical one, it feels like jumping through so many hoops at every stage, but it will be ok, just let them guide you through it all

Reefy · 20/10/2021 10:58

@Frenchie86 oh it definitely is. Yes of course they know the best so let's see what the day.

Frenchie86 · 20/10/2021 11:03

@Reefy I know it's easier said than done though, wishing you all the luck and happy to help with any other questions

Reefy · 20/10/2021 11:55

@Frenchie86 thank you ☺️

PositiveeVibes · 22/10/2021 10:10

@Reefy good luck with your scan today!

Reefy · 22/10/2021 11:13

@PositiveeVibes thank you. All done! They said there is small cyst on my left ovary but they think it's just part of my cycle as it's collapsing & there are lot of little follicles on both sides so we are all good to start stims tonight!

PositiveeVibes · 22/10/2021 11:24

@Reefy aww that’s good to hear! Good luck with stims! 😊

Tiger86 · 22/10/2021 12:02

@Reefy great news glad all went well. Exciting times ahead. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome x

Reefy · 22/10/2021 13:19

@Tiger86 @PositiveeVibes thank you! Hope your journeys are going well 😊

KatRee · 22/10/2021 13:54

Hi everyone, especially @Hazza2021 and @firefly37 who've joined since I last posted. Lovely to hear you've both had successes in the past 🤞for this time around

Exciting to hear you're all set to start @Reefy.

I'm just trying to sort out my meds delivery- all i bit weird as had an email saying they'd been trying to call me, but didn't have any missed callls, and just called back then now and they can't find my paperwork. They were super super efficient last time, so a bit odd, but I'm still almost 2 weeks away from hopefully starting stims, so plenty of time to get it sorted.
Seems most of us have been through this before. I'm feeling far less apprehensive about the injections this time, they feel more like a minor annoyance whereas last time I was so worried I wouldn't be able to stick a needle in myself. How are you all feeling?

PositiveeVibes · 22/10/2021 14:25

@Reefy thank you! Week 1 injections done, scan planned for next Thursday to hopefully start stims!!

@KatRee aww no that doesn’t sound good! Hopefully it all gets sorted out for you, just something you could do without! Was feeling a lot better starting the injections this time around however they seem to be much more painful than I remember ha ha! It will all be worth it though and staying positive 😊

Reefy · 22/10/2021 15:29

@KatRee that sounds annoying as you just want it to all run smoothly & don't have the time to keep chasing people. Hope they sort it out soon.

@PositiveeVibes that's good but not good about them being more painful this time round! I'm starting with just 1 onto 2 this time rather then 2 onto 3

PositiveeVibes · 22/10/2021 16:10

@Reefy I know I don’t know why but got to be done! I’m on 1 and will move onto 2, couldn’t imagine adding another one on top!

KatRee · 22/10/2021 18:35

@PositiveeVibes Sorry it's painful this time around. Are you on a long or short protocol?

Pharmacy called me back - meds on their way next week and I am about £1100 poorer 😭

PositiveeVibes · 22/10/2021 20:45

@KatRee I am on long protocol what about you? I know how that feels mine was about the same!!

KatRee · 23/10/2021 10:54

@PositiveeVibes
From speaking to the pharmacy, sounds like I'm on the same protocol as last time, which was short. No one at the clinic has actually told me though. On my first cycle I had a nurses consultation a couple of weeks before starting where they went through everything with me. Afterwards we had a follow up consultation with the doctor where he said he was considering whether to leave me on the same protocol next time or change things a bit.
When I got in touch with the clinic to confirm we'd like to try again, they just asked me when my next cycle is due and said to call when it arrives to arrange the baseline scan. I've had no other information. I keep contacting them with random questions as I think of them like 'dont we need the virology tests again?' 'Oh, no, the ones you had are valid for 2 years ' Going to have to ask for clarification of what the protocol actually is as I expected to have had confirmation by now

On the one hand I probably don't need to go through all the steps I went through before as I know the drill now, but on the other hand it feels a bit strange and I feel a bit cut adrift in a way
What's everyone else's experience been of going back for a second attempt? Have you had as many appointments beforehand as with the first go? Have you felt informed?

PositiveeVibes · 23/10/2021 12:04

@KatRee aww sorry to hear that you havent really been kept up to date.
When I had my review after first cycle they said they wouldn’t change anything to my protocol was exactly the same. I have only been in for a blood test prior to treatment starting, I had a consultation over phone to go over how to take injections etc. And booked my first scan. I do everything over an online portal and I send messages if I have any questions and they are good at getting back to me.

firefly37 · 24/10/2021 19:49

@Frenchie86 @PositiveeVibes @KatRee... Thanks for the mentions! I am lucky to have had two successes, both were fresh but had two failed FETs along the way. I'm worrying that going for number 3 fresh is pushing my luck! Hmm
What protocols/meds are you all going with? When are you all starting? @Reefy... Glad you have got started after the little worry.
My AF is just spotting today, so my short protocol starts on Tuesday. First time on short protocol... Both previous fresh were longs with Gonal f and Menopur. I will take Pergoveris for 7 days, then follicle scan, then will add cetrotide, day 10 follicle scan and then hopefully trigger and collection a couple of days later. Nervous xx

Reefy · 24/10/2021 20:18

@firefly37 thank you.
Sorry to hear about your 2 failed ones but you never know until you try for a third fresh cycle. I've got my fingers crossed for you.
