I can't see that anyone else has started one yet, so I thought I may as well!

Just got my calendar through today and will be downregging in three weeks time, starting stims in late October, with EC provisionally in early November. This is my second round, which will now be ICSI-only after my last one ended up with a total fertilisation failure Sad

Anyone else on the same sort of timeframe?

@PositiveeVibes yes same, I thought I'd need my husband to do them but actually preferred doing them myself. Sorry you've been trying for so long too. Don't you find the unexplained infertility diagnosis is a bit of a let down? You almost want a problem so they can fix it, as twisted as that sounds. Thank you, it's definitely been hard and has robbed us of not feeling worried with any future pregnancies!

Frenchie86 · 15/10/2021 11:33

@Reefy thank you. I'm sorry to hear that, it's been such a long journey for you, really hope this is the one for you.

I totally agree, if you think it's failed then somehow you think you'll cope better if it does. Then any pregnancy is a positive surprise! I really envy how carefree other women who don't struggle can be with their pregnancies and TTC

PositiveeVibes · 15/10/2021 11:43

@Reefy sorry to hear that happened to you!☹️ Yes I agree if I think the worst then I can deal with it rather than getting my hopes up!

@Frenchie86 yes I hate the fact there is no explanation it’s just always the unknown no answers I’ve found that hard to deal with.

Tiger86 · 15/10/2021 22:21

Hello everyone just jumping in on the thread so hope you don't mind. Due to start short protocol on 1st Nov so egg retrieval somewhere in the middle of Nov.

Thought I would share my story. Have a son already who is 4 and been ttc number 2 for nearly 3 years. Unexplained infertility. Did fall pregnant again 2 years ago now but sadly had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and I've not been able to conceive since so we have opted to try for ivf. First round of ivf coming up and starting to feel anxious about it. Hoping this thread will help as another thread has kept me sane through ttc for so long x

Tiger86 · 15/10/2021 22:41

Also sending positive vibes for everyone about to start. Really hoping for a positive start to the BFPs @Frenchie86 who I think is first to have had a transfer. I hope you are coping with the tww ok. I don't know whether to take time off work for mine or whether it will be good to be at work. I teach 5 year olds and find work to be very stressful and busy and think 2 weeks at home I might be more relaxed and have more of a chance of success I don't know 🤔 x

KatRee · 16/10/2021 09:50

Hi @Frenchie86 I'm so sorry to hear about your loss
I managed not to test until the night before I was due at the clinic for a blood test, which I think I worked out was equivalent to 12dpo and so I was pretty confident I was getting an accurate result with an FRER. The possibility of a false positive from the trigger helped me avoid temptation til then. It's a hard time though, particularly the latter half of the wait. 🤞for you

@PositiveeVibes @Reefy @Frenchie86 I'm also going to try to be more positive this time. Last time I was big on 'managing expectations' which was basically being really pessimistic, telling myself it wouldn't work to try and protect myself from the disappointment. But ended up feeling down throughout the whole 4 week cycle rather than just on results day, which now seems pretty counter productive. If it doesn't work it's going to be crap anyway, might as well try feeling a bit more positive beforehand

@Tiger86 Hello, and I'm sorry to hear at your previous loss. Ttc long term is such a hard process in itself- I can't imagine how it feels to actually conceive and then experience that
Sounds like you are on a similar timescale to me with your upcoming cycle- my period is due on 3rd Mov and I'll be on a short protocol (actually now I type that I realise they haven't actually told be that yet! -just assuming as it was short last time and actually worked well in terms of follicles recruited and eggs retrieved )

I am classed as subfertility due to one blocked tube, but otherwise unexplained. Ttc for 2 and a half years x

Frenchie86 · 16/10/2021 09:58

@Tiger86 thank you for your message and so sorry for your loss, it’s so discouraging when nothing seems to happen for so long. I would actually say that IVF was a positive experience for me, it felt like we were doing something tangible if that makes sense? We were on the short protocol, I found the injections pretty pain free and it was exciting to see the progress of egg development during scans. The clinic staff were lovely too which helped. I know everyone will react to drugs differently but physically speaking it was all pretty easy I thought, considering I was also scared about it. The emotional side is trickier as everyone mentioned above, just trying not to feel negative!

Frenchie86 · 16/10/2021 10:02

@KatRee thank you! So sorry it’s been so hard for you too. I kind of think every time you get a period is a bit of a loss in its self as you were hoping it might be the one. You’re right, I definitely don’t want to get my hope ups with a false positive so I’ll wait. The day of testing works out as 2 days after my normal period would start so it should be pretty accurate, unless my period turns up of course, not sure how the treatments affect your cycle length.

You’re right it is a balance about not being negative and not getting your hopes up, I’m trying to find a happy medium. A negative test will be disappointing either way so it can’t hurt to feel a little excitement. Trying to also see it as a possitive that if it doesn’t work we at least know what to expect next time!

PositiveeVibes · 16/10/2021 10:37

@Tiger86 hello, sorry to hear about your loss that must be so hard to deal with! Wishing you all the best on your journey!
@KatRee yes I’m definitely trying to stay positive and try and enjoy the experience as best I can!

PositiveeVibes · 16/10/2021 10:39

@Frenchie86 yes it’s trying to get the right balance I have days we’re I get a little excited then others I’m like it might not work! I’m definitely feeling more calm as I know what to expect this time.

Frenchie86 · 16/10/2021 10:56

@PositiveeVibes that’s good to hear that you’re feeling calmer, it’s definitely a positive x

Hazza2021 · 16/10/2021 11:37

Hello I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread but I will doing my 3rd and possibly final round in November. Egg collection is provisionally booked for the 22nd. So my first round was a success 3 years ago and I have a little boy from that round. I had another round in March as I want a sibling for my almost 2 year old but it failed so I’m getting ready for my 3rd round. Fingers crossed this is is the one! I hope you all have success in your rounds and I can’t wait to follow you all in your journeys xx

PositiveeVibes · 17/10/2021 08:43

@Hazza2021 hello 👋 happy to hear your first round was a success! Sorry to hear about your failed cycle too though! Wishing you all the best on your journey! Xx

Reefy · 17/10/2021 09:26

@Tiger86 sorry to hear about your miscarriage 💔. I wish you every success on your first round of IVF.
That's a hard one with taking time off as you want to keep busy but not to manic. Maybe some time off but meet with friends & family to keep your mind off it. You have to do what you feel is right for you.

@Hazza2021 sorry to hear you had a failed cycle recently.I wish you the best of luck for your upcoming cycle.

So yesterday I went to work & was just parking up when my medication app reminder went off, I had put the tablets in my bag but left my bag at home 😂😂 quick turn around to speed off home for it 45 min round trip so I will wait for the speeding ticket 😂. I'm normally so good at remembering when I need to take it with me!

Frenchie86 · 17/10/2021 20:29

@Hazza2021 glad your first round worked, really hoping mine works too. Did you know it had worked before taking the test? Best of luck with your third round.

@Reefy oh no that sounds stressful, fingers crossed for no parking ticket hehe. There’s just so much stuff to remember all the time isn’t there? I’ve got a granny pill box because of all the supplements I’ve been taking from It Starts With The Egg.

Reefy · 17/10/2021 20:41

@Frenchie86 yes isn't it 😂. Oh ok did you do that the first round too? I was recommended some vitamins by the doctor on my follow up appointment which apparently helps improve embryo quality so thought would give them a go, although we had a good grade one but I'm up for trying anything! X

Frenchie86 · 18/10/2021 07:54

@Reefy this is my first round and I started them a couple of months ago though ideally you want to start 3 months ahead, but my reasoning is anything is better than nothing. I really recommend the book, it’s very insightful. There is research that says that the supplements help improve egg quality, I can’t know for sure whether they did but I managed to freeze quite good quality 3 eggs and had one good quality one put back in, so it must’ve helped? Which ones are you on? X

Reefy · 18/10/2021 09:09

@Frenchie86 well the doctor said the ones I had been taking (folic acid, vitamin d) were better then nothing & I had a good quality embryo. To be honest I've been taking them for the whole 6 years we've been TTC. However this time I have gone with these ones as doctor said about them but with him telling me to me stating has only been a month so couldn't do the 3 month worth. My partner has stayed on the same ones (Wellman conception). I've added the picture of the ones im currently on.

Frenchie86 · 18/10/2021 17:47

@Reefy I don’t know these but sure they’re good, they’re definitely the main ones the clinics recommend. I’m also on vitamin d, c, q10 and dha. Hubby is on q10 and dha too and the well man too x

firefly37 · 18/10/2021 18:40

PositiveeVibes · 19/10/2021 07:17

@firefly37 hello, happy to hear about your successes! Wishing you all the best!

Tiger86 · 19/10/2021 11:06

Wanting to ask everyone a question. Due to stop taking my norethisterone on 28th and then have a baseline scan on the 1st. Just wondering as surely I will be on my period then are we meant to go to the baseline scan while on your period?

Frenchie86 · 19/10/2021 11:16

@Tiger86 do you mean the scan just before you start your treatment? In which case yes that's normal as they want to check your lining.

Reefy · 19/10/2021 13:23

@Tiger86 I finished mine on Sunday Eve & Just had my baseline scan today but I don't have my period yet they expect it to come tomorrow or Thursday. Last time I finished tabs on the Sunday eve, scan Monday & period on the Wednesday.
