IVF October/November 2021

I can't see that anyone else has started one yet, so I thought I may as well!

Just got my calendar through today and will be downregging in three weeks time, starting stims in late October, with EC provisionally in early November. This is my second round, which will now be ICSI-only after my last one ended up with a total fertilisation failure Sad

Anyone else on the same sort of timeframe?

@want2bemum if the test is positive, I think you are pregnant - you could have a hematoma, they’re quite common in IVF pregnancies and cause bleeding but are usually harmless depending on the location x

Gensola · 17/11/2021 08:01

Oh sorry I see you say it is negative - hmm wait and test again in two days? Sending love xx

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 08:04

Hello @LARBB0707 and @BlueSilver23 good luck with your ECs this week! It can be very daunting and there’s a lot of waiting around before hand! The worst part for me was putting the cannula in/out (I’m a wimp!) ha ha and they did mine in a weird place! but you’ll asleep and won’t feel anything.. I woke up and thought I was at home just in bed ha ha! X

@want2bemum aw sorry about the negative test this morning! Is it your OTD? It’s so hard this journey! X

Tiger86 · 17/11/2021 08:44

I'm jealous of all these people put to sleep for egg collection. No choice in my clinic have to be awake 😯. Egg collection day today so hopefully all goes well.

@wanttobemum so sorry for your negative test xx

Reefy · 17/11/2021 08:48

@want2bemum sorry to hear the test was negative 😢.

@Tiger86 oh no! Well I wish you good luck for EC today.

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 09:02

@Tiger86 oh no! Good luck today! X

BlueSilver23 · 17/11/2021 09:04

@PositiveeVibes

20 eggs is fantastic number! keeping my fingers crossed that they are all good quality

Yes please do all keep me updated as to the EC experience, I'm imaging all sorts!

BlueSilver23 · 17/11/2021 09:07

@want2bemum

Thank you for the welcome, and sorry to hear about the small amount of bleeding, as others have said its very early days so I hope its just a bit of implantation/progesterone bleeding. Sending good pregnancy vibes your way!

I'm not getting put to sleep for my EC either, just sedation which makes me a little worried.....

BlueSilver23 · 17/11/2021 09:08

@Tiger86

Best of luck today!

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 09:10

@BlueSilver23 I am very grateful we have 20 just hope some make it!
Aww honestly you will be asleep and not feel a thing! They take very good care of you! X

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 09:12

@BlueSilver23 I had sedation it’s what they use but it’s the deepest sedation you can have! I have had 2 EC now and I was completely asleep for both! Doctor said if I was awake ask for more sedation as I was very very worried about being awake!

Reefy · 17/11/2021 09:13

@PositiveeVibes wow what a great amount!

@BlueSilver23 I was so nervous & it was absolutely fine it's quite quick mine was only about 15 mins! This time I woke up before I was even in recovery but it was all over. The first thing I always look for when I come round is a clock to see how long I have been out for 😂 then ask the nurses how many eggs 😂.
Good luck!

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 09:16

@Reefy thank you! Just waiting for a call this morning for an update! Ha ha I like that.. I remember looking at clock in theatre it was 10am.. by time I came round and other half was there it was after 11am ha ha! I think I like to sleep and my blood pressure dropped a bit!

Tiger86 · 17/11/2021 09:19

@positivevibes 20 eggs is amazing here is hoping lots fertilise 🤞 x

Shaj123 · 17/11/2021 09:53

Good luck for egg collection today @Tiger86.

20 eggs is a great collection @PositiveeVibes, hopefully theres a good number of fertilized eggs!

So sorry to hear of your negative test @want2bemum, is this normal pregnancy test or blood test result?

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 10:40

So out of 20, 12 were mature and 9 fertilised. Feeling a little deflated with such the big drop but grateful for those 9 today!

Gensola · 17/11/2021 11:02

@PositiveeVibes I had a similar thing in my first cycle - I had 25 eggs, 22 mature and only 12 fertilised. It’s hard seeing the numbers drop isn’t it ❤️ In my case we are using frozen sperm that was recovered from my DH by needle (he’s had a vasectomy) and studies have shown that this sort of sperm has much lower fertilisation rates even with ICSI, but thankfully similar rates of pregnancy and live birth from embryos created as normal sperm, so as long as we get some embryos we in theory have the same chance as anyone else.

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 11:10

@Gensola yes wasn’t expecting it to drop so much and it’s dropped more than last time! But it only takes 1 I know that..
Oh wow that’s good to know that you still get same chance as everyone else!❤️

Shaj123 · 17/11/2021 11:27

@PositiveeVibes, 9 seems to be a good number but I know what you mean because you want as many of them to get to Blastocyst stage. Are you hoping to freeze too?

Reefy · 17/11/2021 11:48

@PositiveeVibes that's a good number. I know what you mean tho when they drop so much!

Its a negative test for us this morning 😫😢

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 11:54

@Shaj123 yeah and last time they were poor quality and had nothing to freeze.. but I know there’s still time! It’s a numbers game but only takes 1 🤞

@Reefy aww I’m so so sorry to hear that 🥺

Shaj123 · 17/11/2021 12:13

which number cycle is this for you @PositiveeVibes?

So sorry to hear that @Reefy

Tiger86 · 17/11/2021 12:38

12 eggs collected for me here is hoping to some making it through to the next stage 🤞

PositiveeVibes · 17/11/2021 12:50

@Shaj123 this is cycle number 2 for me!

@Tiger86 that’s great news! Wishing you the best.. take it easy!

@BlueSilver23 Thank you :)

Sedation is the norm :) When people say they were asleep it is because of sedation. It still knocks you out and usually people don't remember a thing. Because it's such a short procedure it doesn't need a general anaesthetic.
