IVF July/August 2021

Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

@chocolate336 oh they are lovely!! If they work you could save us all a fortune on future IVF rounds (not that I'm doing any more anyway!!)

@beachbum85 hope you are feeling ok and not sore. ETA is 2 weeks from testing so 13/14th Sept but I've asked them to email me to set up a time to talk it through - I can't cope with waiting for a random phone call delivering my future.

I'm up and down. Doing better now than earlier.

What a relief! Last time our problems came later on but I'm just trying to enjoy this update and not think too far ahead.

@Janefx40 I'm feeling well, thanks, just really bloated but not sore at all, thankfully.
That sounds like a really good approach to set an appointment rather than spend 2 days or more staring at the phone and worrying. Glad you're doing better and I hope these days pass quickly and calmly for you xx

@chocolate336 loving it! Hope they bring you luck: My thing is I like to eat pineapple cores like they are going out of fashion after transfer, despite scant evidence as to the efficacy of the bromelain. My husband came home after my first transfer to find me chopping up 3 huge pineapples and throwing all the fruit away 😂

@beachbum85 that's fantastic - well done little embies! From memory a third of my fertilised ones made it to blast. Everything crossed.

Just at the clinic now waiting for my scan to see if we can start new FET meds on Monday......I've really enjoyed these couple of weeks of joy being a total hormonal mess/lunatic.

I also eat the pineapple cores, but with the fruit, and my partner loves pineapple too, so there's an endless supply of pineapples coming into our house for 2 weeks every month

@Bobtat hahaha....I have read about the core of a pineapple! What's it like to eat compared to the fruit? Lol

@beachbum85 trying to stay positive but I'm feeling like it's another unsuccessful round. Preparing myself for the worst and if it's successful it'll be a lovely surprise. Xx

@Bobtat I can never get through the pineapple core - it's too chewy!

@janefx40 it really is! OTD is Sunday, so not long at all. I'm desperate to know but also don't want to know if that makes sense! If it's unsuccessful I'll definitely be taking some time away for a while!

@Bethpalmer20 I know exactly what you mean. I'm always keen to test until I get near the end and then I kind of don't want to - I don't want to take away the possibility that I could be pregnant.

Doing this testing is odd because it's awful but then I have to remember that it's not much different to doing a regular 2WW. It's easier because I don't have to second guess physical symptoms all the time. But then it's also weird that it's so external from my body.

@Bethpalmer20 it's so, so hard... but tomorrow you'll know and I have absolutely everything crossed that it will be the biggest and happiest surprise for you xx

@Janefx40 that sounds really tough as well, a 2ww that you have little contact with.. hoping time flies for you and you're doing as well as you can in the meantime!

Thanks for the good luck messages everyone. Unfortunately another unsuccessful round for us. I feel pretty devastated, like this one has hit the hardest, being our last frozen embryo etc. I'm not really sure where to go from here. How many rounds do you do before you draw the line and accept it'll never work? Should I just accept now that it's not meant to be? DP has taken it badly too. Said he doesn't want to do another round. I'm not sure if he means that or if it was just a spur of the moment thing but I do feel it's a bit unfair for him to make that call considering he doesn't really have to do anything because it's me that has to go through the EC, transfer, injecting etc. I do understand it is probably emotionally hard for him so I'd respect his decision. I'd go through it another 200 times if I had to. Such a tough journey 😢

@Bethpalmer20 I'm so sorry to hear this. It's natural to feel devastated. This is a massive shock even though you might have been half expecting it.

Give your partner time - I know what you mean about it being you that goes through it but he has only just heard the news. This is his first reaction and men sometimes take a few days to process - we've often done a lot of thinking about the different options in advance whereas they often haven't and are processing it for the first time.

Try not to make any decisions right now. Everything is still on the table but for now you just need to have a good cry, eat some nice food and survive today.

You're so right @janefx40 I guess I have been constantly thinking ahead planning the next steps etc if we are unsuccessful whereas he hasn't and it is probably quite a shock and upsetting to him (even if he doesn't really demonstrate that)

@Bethpalmer20 this thread has been such a source of support for me, especially over this past month. What I'm about to face (in terms of these results) is pretty overwhelming but I really feel that I'm not alone - that you ladies are there with me.
