Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

Thanks @Bobtat - and good luck with your future treatment. This is a hard old slog, isn't it?

Reefy · 23/08/2021 14:57

@Bobtat yes I feel ok it's just the waiting, I keep thinking about testing early but then I get too scared too 😂 I just need to have some patience.

beachbum85 · 23/08/2021 15:02

@2021babyhope I'm really sorry too... what a terrible rollercoaster you've been on! Sending you a huge hug and lots of strength... Take care of yourself xx

@Helene2019 I'm in the Cyclogest up the back camp too!
@Helene2019 @Reefy @SerendipitySunshine stay strong and best of luck to all of you!! The wait is so, so hard and I think it's totally impossible not to symptom spot or worry about no symptoms... but there is no way of knowing so hopefully OTD comes around soon :)

@Bobtat no FETs here, so no advice I'm afraid, but I totally empathize because not knowing and waiting is the worst for me too! I'm really glad you have a couple of frosties though Star

@Janefx40 sounds like Sat's scan showed great progress! How was today's? Do you have a trigger date now?
I must admit I also had a little giggle imagining you sneaking out of the campsite and chilling in the B&B (I would most definitely prefer the B&B myself), but really it's tough having to organize everything around IVF... I hope you had a fun weekend all the same!

I had my Day 7 scan today and there are 10 follicles but all small so still a way to go for me! Next scan on Wed and hoping to have some of them over 10mm!

Janefx40 · 23/08/2021 21:58

@beachbum85 great news about your 10 follicles. Very promising. Let us know your progress on wed,

I triggered tonight - in our tent. Decided not to stay at the B&B. It was kind of odd there and I prefer to be with family and friends. My scan today was a bit disappointing. 4over 20. 2 at 15/16 and a couple 10-12mm. They got me to take stims tonight before my trigger so I guess they're hoping for the smaller ones but not much point IMO. In my case you may get extra eggs but only the 4 in the larger group will fertilise and progress - but we shall see...

Janefx40 · 23/08/2021 22:02

Best of luck to those of you in the 2WW @Reefy @SerendipitySunshine @Helene2019. It's so hard not to symptom spot. My trigger stayed around for 11-12 days btw

@Bobtat sounds like you are going to go for it, exciting to be starting again. You just do whatever feels right for you whether that is back to back or with a break.

Will be rooting for you all xxx

beachbum85 · 23/08/2021 23:03

@Janefx40 ohhh you triggered - very exciting! I can understand you were disappointed, but that's not bad at all. The 15/16mm should make it and even the 12mm might, right? You're know your body and history, but last time my 12mm ones were mature and fertilised... I'll be keeping everything crossed for them! I'm glad you managed to trigger where you felt most comfortable :) enjoy your jab-free day and very best of luck for Wednesday xx

Janefx40 · 24/08/2021 21:50

@beachbum85 good luck for your scan tomorrow. Let us know how you get on xxx

beachbum85 · 24/08/2021 23:28

Thanks @Janefx40 and, more importantly, good luck for your EC tomorrow! Everything crossed for you xx

Janefx40 · 25/08/2021 10:57

Hiya - so we only got 6 eggs which is kind of disappointing although from the sizes I would only expect 2- 4 to fertilise anyway. The real information will come tomorrow when we see if any fertilise

beachbum85 · 25/08/2021 12:21

@Janefx40 I'm sorry it was a disappointing connection :( hoping for a positive result tomorrow and having most of them fertilise... I'll be thinking of you in the morning xx
In the meantime, have a good rest... Your body has been through a lot!

Janefx40 · 25/08/2021 16:27

Thanks @beachbum85 how was your scan?

I don't mean to make anyone who has fewer eggs/follicles feel bad - just at age 44 , very few will be viable so we need numbers!! For younger women 1 embryo can be enough but at my age it rarely is!

beachbum85 · 25/08/2021 17:01

@Janefx40 it went OK thanks! There are 6 follicles that are growing, although slowly, so I'll scan again on Fri but it's very similar to last round, so it's looking like EC will be next Tuesday and around 6-9 eggs at max.

I totally understand - we had problems with embryo quality so our clinic always said we need more eggs t increase our chances. It only takes one, but it's got to be a good one!

Janefx40 · 25/08/2021 17:20

@beachbum85 well that sounds promising. Slow growing is good in my experience. Fingers crossed for Friday x

beachbum85 · 25/08/2021 17:40

Thank you very much @Janefx40!!
How are you feeling post collection?

Janefx40 · 25/08/2021 17:59

Yes I'm not too bad. Had a quiet afternoon on the sofa and ate cake for the first time in a long time which was very exciting.

DP is super excited about beer!!!

That was our last ever egg collection so whatever the outcome my eggs and DPs sperm have officially retired.

I can't go crazy in case we do an FET but it wouldn't be for a few months so a bit of cake is definitely in order!

Xxx

beachbum85 · 25/08/2021 19:29

@Janefx40 glad you're feeling well and you definitely deserve that cake and your partner his beer!! well done to both of you... you've been through a lot! have a good rest and treat yourself xx
I'll be back tomorrow to hear how fetilisation went :)

Helene2019 · 25/08/2021 22:19

@Janefx40 I know what you mean re numbers - I am in a similar situation. This cycle 1 made it to day 5, despite me being 2 years older! So I have everything crossed for you that you will have some good news tomorrow. We have one more cycle after this and then I think I'm keen to "retire" and use a donor. But realistically at some point we will run out of money and will have to stop trying to start a family (unless we win the lottery!).

Janefx40 · 25/08/2021 23:14

@Helene2019 I know the money is crazy. We have hand-me-down everything - and then I remember it's because we have spent 10s of thousands on IVF! It's so sad that it comes down to money. However hard this has been I always feel really lucky that we have found a way to afford it. Not everyone could.

Donors is a great option. It made me feel a lot better when I realised that I can have another baby if I want, maybe not one that shares my genes but my baby still. It makes this feel less pressured. I think we need a break for now though!

Best of luck for your test day. Are you going to test later this week? X

Reefy · 26/08/2021 09:03

BFN this morning then aunt flow showed up uninvited a few hours after!

@Janefx40 good luck hearing from the embryologist today 🤞

Janefx40 · 26/08/2021 09:15

@Reefy I'm so sorry. It's such an awful feeling. Be kind to yourself and take some time to recover emotionally and physically. Sending lots of love xxx

Helene2019 · 26/08/2021 09:24

@Reefy so sorry to hear that 😢. I tested early this morning (8dp5dt) and it is a BFN for me too. OTD is not for another 3 days but I would have thought there would have been a faint line by now if it was going to be positive. Our thread hasn't been very lucky so far.

I will test again on Sunday to confirm - and then probably chill for the rest of the day with wine, coffee and cake.

Helene2019 · 26/08/2021 09:31

@Janefx40 yes we have mostly all second hand furniture and have only for the first time purchased new rather than second hand kitchen appliances. We have used all our savings now so will need finance for any cycle after the next one. Good luck today. 🤞

Reefy · 26/08/2021 09:34

@Janefx40 thank you 💗 x

@Helene2019 my OTD was yesterday but couldn't bring myself to do it but decided I would today. Absolutely rubbish isn't it! Nope it really hasn't been lucky. They do say sometimes it can change overnight I guess depends how much HGC. Good luck for Sunday x

Janefx40 · 26/08/2021 09:48

@Helene2019 ugh! I'm sorry. Yes it is true that in most cases you would test positive by this point but it is always possible to get a positive later on - I know women who had low Hcg early on and had successful pregnancies (my old clinic blood tested is incessantly so we have lots of info on Hcg levels between us). But I realise this must be a big disappointment too. Sending lots of love.

Yes we have had a hard time on this thread xxx

Bobtat · 26/08/2021 11:32

@Reefy @Helene2019 really sorry to hear your news. It's so disappointing. Hope you are both doing ok.

@Janefx40 have you had an update yet?
