Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

Hi everyone! Just jumping on here looking if anyone has had a similar experience. I had my fresh cycle last year which unfortunately failed but was lucky to get 5 good quality Frosties. Had my first FET in feb which unfortunately ended in a chemical pregnancy. And I'm now in my TWW after my second FET. The last two goes I was on crinone gel. My clinic have put me on Cyclogest 3xdaily. The first little while I was on it I had a little bit of nausea...but since getting my embryo put in...since day 2 after it, I've had period cramps and the nausea has ramped up, now experiencing headaches. I don't want to get my hopes up as I know it's far too early. I'm now d4p5dt. I just wanted to hear other people's experiences of cyclogest?

BeccaT123 · 31/07/2021 15:22

Hi all,
I had my frozen embryo transfer 4 days ago and keep worrying about doing the wrong thing! Today I travelled on the bus and it was a bumpy road and the bus has no suspension so worried I was being jiggled around too much and that may effect implantation. Do you think that could have been the case? I ended up standing up after a while as I was worrying so much. 6 more days until I can do a test… this waiting game isn’t fun but trying to keep positive. How are you all finding the process? Wishing you all luck xx

LM2021 · 31/07/2021 23:30

Hi,
Thank you for a informative and honest feed from everyone, it’s great to hear everyone’s advice/experience.
I am also on long protocol for 1st time IVF.
I did 2 weeks down reg inj’s, now on stimulation inj’s as well. Anyone else following this plan? Due for scan next week, looking to collect week beginning 09/08/21.

Bethpalmer20 · 01/08/2021 06:34

Hey @chocolate336 we must be on the same time scale. I think it's really difficult because the cyclogest can make you feel a whole host of pregnancy like symptoms. Try not to read too much into it (I should take my own advice🙄) because you'll drive yourself mad. I was on lutigest on my fresh cycle and it gave me all kinds of side effects. I'm on cyclogest this time and I've had no side effects at all but I've read sooooo much about the cyclogest side effects being similar to pregnancy! Best of luck to you x

@beccat123 try not to stress too much, your embryo is tucked right in there! Somebody described it as being like a grain of sand in between a jam sandwich, firmly wedged in place. A bumpy ride won't affect it. I was doing a lot of physical activity and heavy lifting when I got my first BFP (due to the nature of my job) so don't worry!

Officially 5dp5dt today everyone. Finding it much harder this time round, maybe due to the traumatic transfer. I feel like I'm out already though. No real reason. I don't feel any of the symptoms I felt with my BFP 😢

Morning.

OTD today and BFN. Had a gut feeling but doesn’t make it hurt any less. Thanks for your support. X

BeccaT123 · 01/08/2021 09:38

Thank you @Bethpalmer20 that has made me feel better. Keep positive - a lot of people don’t have symptoms and it’s still early days xxx

beachbum85 · 01/08/2021 10:19

@Purplemichelle I'm so sorry lovely :( take the time you need and take care of yourself xx

@Bethpalmer20 stay strong - the symptoms don't mean anything for now... but the wait is always so tough... Sending you a big hug xx
And to everyone else in the tww as well @BeccaT123

@LM2021 I'm on a similar protocol but my down regulation is a bit longer and I have my baseline scan on 17 Aug. It's my second round and last time it felt like time started flying once the scans started. Good luck with your one coming up :)

@chocolate336 I was on Cyclogest last time and I don't remember the details but I had quite a few side effects and didn't feel too good at all. Headaches and constipation for sure... but no nausea. Like @Bethpalmer20 said, it's known to give pregnancy-like symptoms... I hope you feel better soon, and fingers crossed!

@2021babyhope @Csparkles and @XjustagirlX very glad for you all that your scans went well! Good luck for tomorrow's :)
They definitely keep growing even after the trigger but I don't know at which rate. As @CheesyBug said they'll be calculating for the highest number of mature eggs.

@Janefx40 I'm so glad the embryologists did a last check and could give you the reassurance you needed. Keeping everything crossed for these 5 frosties, and your next round! Let us know how everything goes xx

@CheesyBug 4 frosties is great and I'm glad they gave you all the info about them! I hope your period pain is much better (I swear by codeine too) xx

Thinking of everyone and wishing you well xx

chocolate336 · 01/08/2021 11:59

I don't remember any of these side effects with crinone gel but here's hoping it'll all be worth it 🤞🏻 Yes we seem to be at the same stage....read back your OTD is on the 4th....my clinic have told me to test on the 8th! Wishing you all the best 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

itsmschanandlerbong · 01/08/2021 12:09

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to join this late on.

AF is due mid week next week and I'll be starting cycle 2, short protocol so straight on to stims.

We have male factor, decent AMH (18) but unfortunately during my first cycle out of 8 eggs retrieved, only 2 fertilised and only 1 was suitable for transfer. The quality wasn't great (4CC) but resulted in a BFP which quickly then turned into a chemical pregnancy.

This time round I have been taking all of the recommended supplements from it starts with an egg, have been going to acupuncture and the clinic are also changing my medication. Fingers crossed it results in a better response!

Bethpalmer20 · 01/08/2021 12:13

So sorry @purplemichelle it really hurts. I had everything crossed for you. Take care of yourself, your body has been through a lot. X

@Purplemichelle I'm new to this chat and just seen your message come up! I just wanted to say I'm so so sorry....this whole process is absolutely brutal! Look after yourself!

XjustagirlX · 01/08/2021 16:36

@chocolate336 I’ve had cyclogest for 3 months from day 21 onwards. I wasn’t doing ivf at that stage but I had it after nk cells biopsy. I felt pregnant each time but wasn’t. It made me feel nauseous in the mornings, and my boobs were bigger and sore.

Janefx40 · 01/08/2021 18:57

@Purplemichelle I'm so sorry. I've been there and it is absolutely rubbish. Be extra nice to yourself and we're always here if you want to chat x

chocolate336 · 01/08/2021 19:17

@XjustagirlX Thanks for replying! Yeah feeling like that too....deffo getting a lot more side effects with this!Confused

Purplemichelle · 01/08/2021 19:30

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Have been crying a lot today. Feel like it’s al my fault although my common sense is just saying it’s luck of the draw. This is so so tough. I think telling family was the worst part of it. If we decide to do this again then we won’t be telling any family to save the heartache. I really do wish you all well with your journeys and will stay on here if that’s ok to see how you get on. X

girljulian · 01/08/2021 19:55

Oh @Purplemichelle I’m so sorry. I know you know this, but it really wasn’t your fault at all.

Janefx40 · 01/08/2021 20:20

Welcome @chocolate336 @BeccaT123 and everyone else who's joined recently!

Sorry to be so brief but hope everyone is doing well x

Bethpalmer20 · 01/08/2021 21:08

Please don't blame yourself @purplemichelle this journey is tough enough as it is without feeling like it's your fault.. Unfortunately it really is just down to luck, which feels so cruel sometimes. Be kind to yourself and do pop on here to chat, don't bottle it up if you're struggling x

beachbum85 · 01/08/2021 21:19

Sending you a big hug @Purplemichelle it's really, really difficult and everything you're feeling is totally justified (especially with all the hormones), but it's not your fault in any way. I hope crying it out helps you feel a bit better... we're here if you need us xx

manny33 · 01/08/2021 21:40

Good evening everyone

I had my final scan today to give the go ahead for EC on Tuesday

We are looking at potential 4 great sized follicle and another 2 ok size
We hope this is enough to collect the eggs

I have just taken my trigger shot gonasai 10,000

I spilled quite a few drops when trying to fill the syringe such a fidely syringe!
I am Worried as I didn’t get all the liquid into my belly. 😞
Anyone had issue with trigger shot?

Now just the anxious wait till the collection on Tuesday morning.

🤞🏻

Hope everyone else is doing well 😊

Janefx40 · 01/08/2021 22:01

@Purplemichelle it is so hard. You did nothing wrong, I promise, but it is hard to feel that sometimes even though we know it.

After being on this IVF train for a while, I tell practically no one any more. I find I need to keep my head down and get through it and don't have the energy to keep updating people. I'm generally a very open person who will tell anyone anything but not with this. Everyone is different tho - you will find your right balance with it xxx

Purplemichelle · 01/08/2021 23:21

@Janefx40 thanks for your message. If I’m honest I feel completely empty. I don’t know how I will find the strength to go through another cycle. I’m going to speak to the consultant, take some time out and do some self care. I’ve just turned 40 and with very low AMH, I don’t know how long I have for another try. I would like to take at least a couple of months out but will see what is suggested. It would be easier to have some frozen embryos from this cycle to make the process a little easier. I just don’t know if I can put myself and my husband through this again. At a bit of a loss at the moment. X

iattc · 02/08/2021 02:53

So sorry to hear this purple
We decided to not tell family either I think it was the hardest thing for us esp now 3 rounds in. We have decided not to tell anyone at all on our next round.

Hope everyone is well and everything is going okay with you all

Don't know if you remember but we failed ivf number 3 couple of weeks ago. So weird but I've had brown discharge today so could it just be old blood? I've never had spotting mid cycle before x

Janefx40 · 02/08/2021 07:45

@iattc I'm sorry again about your cycle. After my FET and miscarriage, I had mid-cycle spotting for a few months. I would basically spot around ovulation? Could it be that? We take so many hormones that it can mess things up.

@Purplemichelle I can well remember feeling like I could never do it again. I had a friend who had done 7 rounds of IVF and after my first failed, I thought I couldn't imagine doing that many. Now I'm starting on my 7th (depending how you count it and with success in the middle of that journey). Just go slowly and see how you feel when the first shock fades. This stuff is hugely traumatic but we tend to push that to one side and just keep ploughing through - from time to time (especially when things don't work) the weight of that trauma and grief hit us. You just have to be kind to yourself while it happens.

IVF is really hard and nothing changes that but when it works, it really is amazing.

Purplemichelle · 02/08/2021 10:06

Thanks @Janefx40, really helpful advice. I will take some time to process it all and then decide what our next steps are. Well done you on going through that many rounds, you must have unbelievable strength! Xx
