Congratulations on your EC @Sungirl11.
6 out of 7 is a good ratio, I wish you 6 good quality embryos from of it 🤞😊
I am glad to hear that you feel well after EC.

I hope I will feel well too. I haven't been too well the last couple of days, so even though I am absolutely terrified of the sedation and the possible pain afterwards, I am very happy that I got to this point and waiting to hear good news along the way 😊

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 00:16

@Orsh i was terrified of sedation and i didn't realise when it happened! Woke up really well and felt fab. But i have been feeling really well the whole process, I believe it's the only good thing about getting a small number of eggs.
I am more terrified now... waiting for the results of tomorrow... 🙈
Just praying we have quality and embryologists do a good job! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Super good luck tomorrow! When I had it done today I had a bit of a relaxed feeling as I had got this done now. Xx

PurpleUnicorn01 · 21/04/2021 04:42

@Sungirl11 good luck x

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 11:50

Hi girls!
Just got THE CALL from the clinic. Burst into tears as I was so scared!!!
Out of my 6 eggs, all 6 were mature and 5 made it to today. 🥲🥲
I'm so relieved! We have 5 fighting!
Will get a call on Friday to let me know how they are doing and give me a time for transfer un Sunday 😍
This is such good news for us, i was thinking there would be 3 or 2 🙈
Relieved! Xx

PurpleUnicorn01 · 21/04/2021 12:06

@Sungirl11 arghhhhhh!!!!! That is fab news, so pleased for you Smile. Transfer time around the corner for you now. Excited for you. Smile

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 12:10

That's a great start @sungirl11. Is this your first cycle? Sorry you've prob said that, hard to keep up on here!

Just do be mindful that there can be a big drop off from day one to day 3 and then again to day 5 . . .

1st cycle we had 10 eggs, 8 fertilised, all of them mature. 6 of these made it to day 3 (apparently this mainly depends on the maternal I.e. mothers DNA and egg quality) We then only had 2 which made it to day 5 blastocyst, both poor grades (our embryologist told us this was because of my husband's sperm (abnormal shape, MFI) which even ICSI does not overcome seemingly. . . This is different for every couple depending who has the fertility issues & what they are.

It is FANTASTIC news today though that you have 5 fighting as you say. I like your positivity. We had 5 this time round & we got the wee special embryo we needed for our BFP. I really hope this is the same for you 😊 xx

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 12:19

@Bella1984 i know!! On day 3 is when sperm starts to do it's job! My husband has poor motility (so basically lazy buggers which is resolved with ICSI) but the rest was all perfect. And I don't have any issues. So hoping they go strong!
And yes, it is our first cycle. My mother paid for it before she passed away, so I somehow believe she is helping us ❤️

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 12:25

@Sungirl11

Awe I'm sorry to hear you lost your mother, but that is lovely that you feel that way. I'm sure she is 🥰

That's great that like me you don't have any issues, I don't hear it alot with ivf actually but maybe just coz men don't talk about it as much as we do!

We also had ICSI my husband has fine sperm count and motility, just the shape. Which is very important unfortunately! But isn't it amazing what science can do these days.

The first ivf baby was born in 1978 on 25th July, my birthday 😊

Everything crossed for you, this is the worst part of the wait between EC and hopefully ET from my experience xx

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 12:30

@Bella1984 thank you! What issues do you have? I wasn't aware you both had them. Xx

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 12:38

No I don't have any issues, that's what I mean - from my experience it's more often the female and everyone assumes that, but I think stats show it is the man in up to 40% of couples?

When we had our fertility testing last year the consultant said I was as fertile as a 25 year old (I am 36 now) so I was absolutely ecstatic until they gave us my husband's results 😓 My amh was so high they were worried about OHSS so I was on a very low drug protocol so as not to over stimulate during both cycles. I did this time but luckily it settled quickly. At my ET the consultant said I have a very narrow cervix which my mum has, she had no issues getting pregnant and even chose the months me and my 2 sisters were born. Crazy. It made my ET a bit trickier and will also mean all being well with pregnancy I'll need a c-section (which I am happy with!) xx

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 12:52

@Bella1984 Aww ok! Yeah so same as us.
There is a lot of male infertility, i know a lot of couples. But many are quite severe issues... ours is just a silly one, we could get pregnant naturally some day, but very low chance as they don't swim! Haha
I am ok too, expectations where a lot of eggs and bla bla and in the end only 6 made it to EC. Not sure what happened there...
But aw well, i really want to stay positive and think that of those 5 at least 2 will make it 🤞🏻 i keep everything crossed.

Orsh · 21/04/2021 17:35

Hello Ladies,

I bit of an update on my EC:
Everyone was great and very nice. Much better care than I expected.
I was taken in just before 10am (I was given 9am timeslot). The last 30-40 mins I was cramping very badly.

Cannula was inserted with great professionalism, didn't even leave a mark. I was out within a minute or 2.
I was very sore when I woke up. The lady after me was moving around like nothing happened 😅. We all are different.

A couple of hours, a sandwich, a cup of tea, some extra painkillers and a wee later I could get dressed and meet my partner to have a chat with the nurse.

We have 8 eggs collected. They didn't say out of how many follicles. Unfortunately we lost 4, as I ovulated just minutes before they did the harvest. I had 12 when they did the scan, right before the procedure.

They said they are very happy with this number. I am happy too, only wish we could catch those 4 in time, but 8 is still a very good number :)

They will call me tomorrow about how many fertilised (ICSI), then on day 5/6 to let us know how many goes in the freezer.

Due to my trigger meds it's a freeze all, even though with this number could have been fresh transfer, but I think it's for the best.

It's a very strange feeling, that our babies are being created and forming/developing right now. It is a good-strange. Makes me feel very pleased and peaceful.
I hope we will have enough good quality embryos in the freezer for the present and the future.

I hope everyone is well. 🌻🌺🌻🌺🌻

Nik85 · 21/04/2021 17:54

@Orsh

8 is a great number! They collected 8 from me and 5 fertilised, I had my bfp from that and now have a FET on board!

Good luck and I hope all make it to blastocyst xx

PurpleUnicorn01 · 21/04/2021 17:58

@orsh that is great news. Smile

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 18:51

@Orsh well done!! I only got 6 and 5 fertilised! So surely you will get a good number. Hoping a speedy recovery and let us know how it's going ☺️

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 19:45

@Sunseasandwhitesangria

You seem to be the most zen person on here 👏 what made you relocate to London? I have one sister at uni there she's 20 and my older sis is a chef to celebrity bands, she lives in the Cotswolds now and is currently a live in chef for a very high profile English rockstar! She goes sea swimming and does daily yoga on the beach every morning with him, how the other half live 😂 she is going to be the coolest Auntie!

Agree 100% about progesterone pessary they are easy to do and def not as unpleasant as the injections for me but boy do they make you feel miserable! My last cycle esp I was so tired, greasy hair, spots, peeing all the time, felt like crap basically. I was delighted to be told by the clinic on OTD I could stop them with my BFP. They were like are they that bad, I was like yep!
So what day are you post transfer now? Can't keep it up too many people on here and my insomnia is causing my brain to be stupid 😂 xx

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 19:52

8 is a great number @orsh. I had read so much about 15 eggs being the 'magic' number for successful IVF, but from what I can see few women get this many and those that do maybe have PCOS so High reserves. It really is quality over quantity. I top released eggs early and much more than 4 (12 v good follicles and only 5 eggs collected for me) I was really disappointed after getting 10 last cycle and this resulting in a BFN. . . My consultant said my body likely released the poorer quality eggs which I think is amazing, so dont get hung up on the 4 that got away, maybe they wouldn't have made it to day 5 anyway. Remember woman usually only produce one egg per ovulation which is enough for many women to get pregnant! I hope you continue to get good news as they start to grow and divide xx

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 22:11

@Bella1984 now that you mention about the pessaries... i do one morning and one evening (i believe as everyone else) and when i introduce it a few mins later i have quite a lot of discharge... (sorry tmi). It's like if it dissolves and comes out? Disgusting hahaha
But did this happen to you too? 😂

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 23:15

Hi @sungirl11

Haha tmi doesn't really apply to ivf chat I don't think 😉

I only had to do one pessary of progesterone every evening, I was on a low dose of everything given my high amh etc

Twice a day & double the dose would explain why you're all feeling pretty miserable if that's the normal dose for most people. . .

I did mine lying down at 10pm so that I could stay lay down after, they didn't tell me to do that I just thought it made sense. I did get some discharge the next morning/ when up in the night to pee (often!) when on these too, read its a normal side effect. One of many it would seem! x

Sungirl11 · 21/04/2021 23:24

@Bella1984 i'm doing pessaries and injections twice a day 🙈
Not sure why such a high dose but Dr will know better...
And I am starting to feel crap! My nipples are huge and really pink and sore... I do hope it's all worth it 🤞🏻

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 23:41

@Sungirl11

Not sure, grateful to have only been on progesterone once/ day

I did however have 3 injections per day! 2 frymadel and 1 menopur. The double fyrmadel was linked to my BMI being at 27/28, not my fertility stats. Apparently I was borderline for one, I worked so hard to lose weight after first cycle so was raging when I still had to do 2 frymadel every morning. Evil wee feckers those ones! Not long to go for you now at least 🤞 I think some women stay on daily progesterone after BFP, my clinic said I didn't have to based on my fertility x

Orsh · 22/04/2021 07:07

Thank you Girls. I feel much better today. Still some pain in my tummy, but it is surprising how quickly your body recovers from it. I am taking arnica, maybe that helped too.

That sounds wonderful @Nik85. That's what I wish for from these eggs.1 baby for now (FET in Summer) and 1 in the future for a sibling. I hope it all goes well for your FET.

Very exciting @Sungirl11 that you are having your ET soon. Have you had any updates yet?

Thank you @Bella1984 for sharing. You are 5 weeks now, It is beautiful.

Sungirl11 · 22/04/2021 07:50

@Orsh glad to hear you are feeling good!
I just got my update yest. We have 5 fertilised. And waiting for tomorrow day3 update 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Crazydoglady123 · 22/04/2021 08:40

@Orsh well done on your EC! Thank you for a detailed review too! That's the stage I'm dreading most. Fingers crossed for some excellent news today for you 🤞

Amazing @Sungirl11

I've had two doses of my stims (Ovaleap) now and had an awful night of hot flushes and feeling nauseous. Keep getting a watery mouth like before you're about to be sick 😷

PurpleUnicorn01 · 22/04/2021 08:59

@Crazydoglady123 i hope you feel better soon.
