Is anyone else on here having treatment with CRGW in South Wales? Just wondering what other people's experiences with them have been.

@Blueron123 we had our consultation this morning with Shaun who was lovely. He thinks a retrieval may not work for us but is going for a second opinion with Gareth brown and getting back to us.

How are you doing?

Blueron123 · 28/03/2021 14:03

@Becbelly I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully Gareth Brown will think there's a chance.
I'm good thanks. I have my treatment planning with one of the nurses on Tuesday. I started taking Metformin on Friday.

Cat028 · 28/03/2021 17:20

@Blueron123 hi, yeah I finally heard from them. We have our planning meeting on Weds. Looks like we will be planning a similar time. Do you have any idea when you are hoping to start?

Blueron123 · 28/03/2021 17:59

That's good news @Cat028
I think the consultant wants me on these tablets for about 6 weeks before we start. I'm hoping to start towards the end of May. She said egg collection would be May/June.
What about you?

Cat028 · 28/03/2021 18:15

Aw cool. I'm glad you've been able to start them now and get everything going. They said egg collection May/June for us too. I'm not sure how soon we will be able to start after our planning meeting so we'll see on Weds.

Cat028 · 30/03/2021 12:40

@Blueron123 good luck today. Let us know how you get on.

Blueron123 · 30/03/2021 16:07

Thanks @Cat028
Just finished my planning. Unfortunately they don't have any June appointments left! I won't be having egg collection until w/c 19th July (that's if my periods are on time). I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted to start asap but it works out well because I won't have to take time off work.

Cat028 · 30/03/2021 17:00

@Blueron123 that's such a shame. I'm the same as you and was hoping to get started ASAP. I'm sure it'll be the same for me tomorrow. 😔

Blueron123 · 30/03/2021 17:13

I'm really surprised because Amanda said it would be May/June for collection. But they're really busy. I'll be starting on day 21 of my June cycle. Have to take norethisterone from day 21 for around ten days (I think). Hopefully my period will start a couple of days after finishing and then I'll go in for a baseline scan and start stims that day (early July). We go in for bloods and injection tutorial on the 24th May.
I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. Do you know the name of the nurse? Mine was Kaylei, she was lovely.

Cat028 · 30/03/2021 21:08

@Blueron123 I was definitely not expecting you to say you'd have egg collection in July. I suppose it depends when everyone's dates are too. We are having a meeting with Samantha tomorrow.

jodesxx · 30/03/2021 22:33

Hello,

Hope you don't mind me joining in!

We are moving over to CRGW as not had the best experience with WFI. We have an appointment with Amanda on 24th April.

What is the process from that initial appoinyment to starting treatment?

I'm a bit surprised/concerned as we were told that we should be able to start June/July but they appear to be booking into July already!! Our wedding is next May so didn't want to go past Mid-July as don't want to postpone and they said that would be fine!

Jodie :)

Blueron123 · 31/03/2021 07:30

Hi @jodesxx
Oh no that's not good. Did you cycle with them?

The first appointment is a scan and AMH blood test. Two weeks later you have an online consultation with Amanda and she discusses the treatment with you. She then sends you all the consent forms and then you have an online treatment planning appointment with the nurse (I had mine yesterday).
I'm guessing if your appointment isn't until the end of April, you probably won't be cycling until at least August! They're really busy because a lot of people are moving from WFI to them because of the wait etc.

Blueron123 · 31/03/2021 07:30

Good luck today @Cat028

Cat028 · 31/03/2021 12:49

@jodesxx Welcome!! Have you had many cycles before with WFI?

@Blueron123Thank you! All went well but as expecting after your message we are later than we hoped. We are looking at baseline scan date end June with egg collection w/b 12th July. So pretty similar to you. We also have bloods and an injection tutorial on 12th May.

Blueron123 · 31/03/2021 17:18

I'm glad it went well @Cat028
Are they going off your May cycle? My period is usually the beginning of the month so I have to go off June cycle.

Cat028 · 01/04/2021 09:41

@Blueron123 yeah, going off my May cycle. I'm sure it'll be here before we know it. It gives me a bit of time to get some things done and relax with my DH before the madness of treatment begins.

Blueron123 · 01/04/2021 10:17

@Cat028 Yes I know what you mean! Can I ask if your period is later on in the month?

Cat028 · 01/04/2021 12:44

@Blueron123 yeah it is later in the month. From the 20th onwards usually.

Emmzy2021 · 06/04/2021 18:52

Hello,

Does anyone know if you have to have an upto date smear in a private clinic for IVF? I had a miscarriage at the end of February and then had a letter saying I was due my smear test. The NHS IVF clinic phoned to start my treatment planning appointment but they then told me I couldn't start until I had an upto date smear. I went for the smear test and then the nurse told me that I couldn't have it until 12 weeks until after my miscarriage. Both so upset with the delay, its crazy as my smear was due in November but I didn't have a letter until end of February, so I had two FETs done on an expired smear.

Thanks

Em

Becbelly · 06/04/2021 19:16

@Emmzy2021 I'm so sorry to hear that! How awful for you. I know when I had my consultation with CRGW the doctor mentioned the fact that I was up to date with my smear. Even though the last one I had was January 2018. My next is booked for May this year. So I'm not sure how strict they are with it, but he made a point of mentioning it. You could give them a call and ask.

Cat028 · 06/04/2021 20:03

@Emmzy2021 Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and that you've had delays as a result of the smear. I remember them missing picking up certain things after my loss too. It doesn't make it any easier! The clinic did ask about my smear and it's also on initial consent forms so I'd look at getting it booked as soon as you feel comfortable to.

Blueron123 · 06/04/2021 20:16

@Emmzy2021 I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I think you have to have an up to date smear, it's one of the questions they ask when you complete the forms.

Jacky83 · 24/04/2021 15:06

Sorry only just spotted all the comment on this thread. Can't recommend CRGW highly enough. They were fantastic. Always made us feel at ease, even with all the Covid stuff going on around us. I'm sitting here 38 weeks pregnant after a successful first cycle. They were amazing.

@Jacky83 that's amazing! Congratulations.
Can I ask what protocol you did?
Did you cycle with WFI before you had treatment with CRGW?

Jacky83 · 25/04/2021 13:32

@blueron123 We had ICSI. No treatment before CRGW.
