Is anyone else on here having treatment with CRGW in South Wales? Just wondering what other people's experiences with them have been.

@Blueron123 fingers crossed you can just crack on and not repeat anything. It's such a delay sometimes when you just want to get things moving.

Yes I hope I can get him on board! He worries about everything and money top of list. Maybe we should bin off wedding and just go private but I would like to use our free NHS tries first really. I just hope once we do have the retrieval done everything else is not delayed to much 🙄

What was the care like under WFI? We were in the royal glam for ages before being transferred to the heath and felt like we were going around in circles with them to.

Yeah I can't find a way to message as well. Such a pain lol.

Blueron123 · 21/02/2021 22:56

@Becbelly the nurses are amazing. They are so lovely - I was at Neath Port Talbot. The consultants were really nice as well. I just felt like they weren't really doing enough though and they never really offered anything extra unless I asked for it or suggested it. When I had my first transfer (positive but miscarried at 5.5 weeks) I spotted from day 4 past transfer right until I miscarried, I called several times but they couldn't help. I think my progesterone was low but they didn't offer to test it or didn't advise me to take extra. When I had my second transfer I was the one that suggested extra progesterone. It was quite frustrating. I had a really good relationship with the nurses, they are so caring and helpful.
I hope you manage to talk your partner round. Tell him my DH said please have it done with Gareth Brown and that he wouldn't trust anyone else with the procedure 😂

Blueron123 · 21/02/2021 23:00

@Becbelly have they given you a rough idea of how long you have to wait?

Becbelly · 21/02/2021 23:29

@Blueron123 aw I am so sorry to hear about that. That must have been so hard! Same they didn't offer more advice as well.

When we were first referred back two years ago I did loads of research about everything but as the wait has gone on I got so disheartened that I really need to refresh my memory again. I even stopped taking my folic acid but started again the start of this year.
I'm glad they are nice. All the nurses were lovely in royal glam and and the heath. Don't know how I feel about the consultants yet though.... the one I see advised against retrieval but when we seen Dr Jenkins he said it was worth a shot.

Honestly not heard anything from them at all!! Like unless I phone them I have not been told anything! No letters/emails or anything. I know they have a lot going on. I did phone them to tell them we are considering going private for retrieval and they were supportive of that and said another couple were doing the same as us.

Have you been given a date to start treatment with them yet?

Cat028 · 22/02/2021 22:06

@Becbelly The results are processed by CRGW for the blood test I had on Friday. The lady on reception I spoke to told me not to worry about rushing to get my NHS results as I knew there was nothing glaring on 2 of them. I had low progesterone when tested so was able to give them that result and my DH sperm analysis.

That walk must have been tough. Well done for getting through it. One of the girls in work today kept saying how much of a pain her daughter was and did I want her instead. I got quite upset about it and it got really awkward.

I haven't looked into messaging but I thought there was a way too.

We wanted to wait and use our NHS rounds first but I really don't think I can wait another 2 years! 😭

@Blueron123 sorry to hear about your miscarriage and feeling like they didn't do as much as they could have. I must have been so upsetting and frustrating for you. I felt similar with our gynaecology team when we managed to get pregnant naturally, I assumed they'd want to test or check things but they just left us to it.

JemInher40s · 23/02/2021 19:57

Hi all! I was turned down by the NHS so going private with CRGW. I have my initial scan with them within days. My consultation is a month after that. I was told by the receptionist at Wales that treatment should commence may/June as its first come first serve! At the moment they're experiencing 'unprecedented demand' so there's a delay with them responding to correspondence.
I have low AMH and fibroids so quite anxious!

Becbelly · 23/02/2021 20:52

@JemInher40s hi 👋🏻 what clinic will you be using? I've heard all positive stuff about them so far which is reassuring. I have my scan in three weeks and then consultation the end of March.

@Cat028 so you still managed to get some information at your scan/bloods. Did they ask many questions? Not to long for your consultation now!!

Becbelly · 23/02/2021 20:53

@Cat028 I really don't blame you not wanting to wait that long!! Looks like we are postponing wedding again so I'm thinking just to push for fertility treatment now instead.

JemInher40s · 23/02/2021 21:01

@Becbelly I'll be going to CRGW in Bristol for scan, AMH test and consultation. Ill then start at the Wales branch for treatment.
I did lots of research over the past few weeks and attended around five virtual clinic open evenings (excl CRGW). However, I decided I wanted to go with CRGW. Concept and Create were my runners up.

Cat028 · 23/02/2021 21:23

@JemInher40s welcome! It seems that the wait times are slowly creeping up. I'm not surprised, covid has affected so many people with their fertility journey.

Have they told you what low AMH means for treatment? I am due to have my AMH results back in Monday ready for my consultation next Weds.

@BecBelly the nurse didn't ask too many questions. She asked some basic background questions but I think that was more a getting to know me thing. She said they will collect more detailed information at the consultation and to have everything ready including any questions we have.

She mainly asked questions related to the scan. How regular is my period, length of cycles etc. She was so considerated and took time to answer all of my questions. She even asked how I was feeling about the scan as I haven't had an internal since our miscarriage. She made me feel like she really wanted to know and cared. Very good first impression.

Becbelly · 23/02/2021 21:54

@Cat028 that's good that they were so nice! I hope they are the same in my clinic, I'm sure they will be. The NHS nurses were lovely to to be honest. Even when I called them to say we are considered going private for the retrieval they had lists of advise and were very reassuring. I'm not a fan of internal scans anyway but having what you went thought I bet it was even worse.

@JemInher40s I only looked at CRGW but it's not to far for us to travel and DP doesn't drive so the closer the better for us. We went there for some tests in the start of our investigations and liked it.

JemInher40s · 23/02/2021 21:59

@Cat028 Thanks for the welcome. I don't know what low AMH means in regard to treatment, but what I do know is that CRGW are said to treat women that other clinics turn down (so as to not disrupt their results). I'll be getting FSH LH etc results tomorrow from NHS as these were done before finding out that I'm ineligible for NHS fertility treatment.
CRGW also do a mild IVF option which also ticked my boxSmile

JemInher40s · 23/02/2021 22:04

@Becbelly I live more than 2 hours away, but as I was considering going abroad I'm willing to do the journey. Travelling for medical reasons is allowed during lockdown.Halo

Cat028 · 23/02/2021 22:40

@Becbelly I'm sure they will be. Fingers crossed they will anyway. I must have missed the part about postponing your wedding. I'm sorry to hear that. Have you done it already? They are looking at opening things back up by June aren't they?

No, internal scans aren't the best. I always feel awkward talking to the nurse while she has the wand up me. 🤣🙈

@JemInher40s that's good. I researched a lot of clinics through the HFEA and they had statistics similar to other clinics despite treating women that other clinics wouldn't so that sealed it for us. Do you mind me asking why you are ineligible on the NHS?

JemInher40s · 23/02/2021 22:47

@Cat028 Unfortunately my AMH was too low. My levels were only half the required level of 6.

Becbelly · 23/02/2021 22:54

@Cat028 thanks, it's the start of June and the rules aren't clear here in wales yet. Not postponed yet. Waiting to hear what dates they available... again 🙄

Yes it is awkward isn't it?! I hate smear tests to. I'm due now but thinking they are not doing them right now? I think you have to be up to date with your smear for NHS treatment though.

@JemInher40s hopefully it won't be to long for you to start treatment. 🤞🏻

Cat028 · 24/02/2021 17:59

@JemInher40s I didn't realise there was a required level for AMH. That must have been so hard to hear. 😔

@Becbelly no that's true we're definitely still in the dark but hopefully things will start opening up soon. I'm starting weekly testing from tomorrow so that'll be a bit reassuring.

I heard of a lady in another thread being delayed because she needed her smear. She did have it done though so I would ring and ask. I thought the same with blood tests but they have continued to do those too.

JemInher40s · 24/02/2021 18:44

@Cat028 yep, there is a list of approximately 11 eligibility criteria, including: high FSH, BMI, previous children etc. My FSH levels came back in today and my levels are 13 (NHS eligibility for my ccg is 9). All other hormone results are good.

@BecbellyI had a normal smear result last Autumn. I think there isn't a restriction on getting them done. Furthermore, its been on the news in the last two days where women are being urged not to put it off.

Cat028 · 25/02/2021 17:03

@JemInher40s I didn't realise there were so many! I knew about the bmi and only if you don't already have children but had no idea about the rest! Have you had your scan yet?

Becbelly · 27/02/2021 22:34

@Cat028 when is your consultation now?
I also didn't realise there was so much that went in to the criteria. Thanks for advice both, I'll have to get it booked in incase it holds things up even more 🙄

Cat028 · 28/02/2021 17:01

@Becbelly. Definitely! Get it booked. It's in Wednesday. That'll come quick I'm sure. Hopefully we can get everything going then 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I'm getting so impatient.

JemInher40s · 01/03/2021 20:00

@Cat028 I've now had my scan and just now have to wait a few weeks for my consultation.

Cat028 · 02/03/2021 21:14

@JemInher40s exciting! That will be here before you know it. I have my consultation tomorrow.

@Becbelly hope you are doing okay. Have you managed to get your smear booked?

Becbelly · 02/03/2021 21:57

@Cat028 not called them yet. Have to get on it this week though, my friend had hers last week so my doctors are doing them. Surprised I haven't been called yet though. I know my last one was Jan 2018, so surly it's due now?! 🤔

Ooooh good luck for tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. Two weeks until my scan now. It's coming fast.

I have hospital tomorrow but for the blood clot thing so I'm going to ask her about the medication I'll have to take if we do get pregnant.

Cat028 · 02/03/2021 22:36

@Becbelly yeah, every 3 years isn't it? They might be a bit behind with covid but I'm sure they would see you.

Thank you! It's come faster than I thought it would!

Hope all goes well down the hospital tomorrow. Hopefully they will have an alternative for you when you need it. Is this something you'll have to do long term do you think?
