August IVF

Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

There are some self fertility massage videos on YouTube. I was thinking of giving it a go now that I'm not doing acupuncture. I have in the past done fertility yoga (Bettina Rae in YouTube is who I like) so I might re-start that.

We're going on a uk break, but we don't even have passports so it's our usual just due to budget. We're due to go 2 days after proposed transfer so I'm crossing my fingers the transfer doesn't get moved to the next week. I think it's all very personal and up to individual families to decide what they're comfortable with. I'd love to be on a sunny beach right now with a milkshake and a book!

This will be my first ivf 2ww where I'll not be teaching. I'm hoping that will help as my stress levels will be right down!

Mseddy · 22/07/2020 10:44

We are going away this weekend just to the Yorkshire coast as a few days chill pre treatment, and then we have a week in Cornwall booked for what will be a few days after our official test date. So I'll either be very early pregnant when we go (fingers crossed) or it'll be a well needed distraction for us.

I can't remember who asked if It helped having already thought of plan b, but yeah it's really helped. I always need to know "what's next" I think it's part of being an ICU nurse! Always need a plan b because plan a barely ever goes right!!

@Bruce2 lol, both Scots living in SE England having IVF in August! What are the chances ;) I totally get wanting to do something different during the TWW. I'm literally at work just now doing the rota for those two weeks and looking at my shifts thinking how weird its going to be (assuming I get to that stage!). I work in care so it's quite full on and actually think it might be good to keep me busy.

@zoeyj Anecdotally I've heard so many stories from women about to start IVF and then their cycle or body decides to troll them :( Really hope your period starts soon!

seven201 · 22/07/2020 12:20

@Mseddy it was me who asked about the plan b. I'm really pleased it's helped. I think I'm the same. I like to know what's going to happen, so plan b's are very useful! We paid for a 2 cycle deal, so if this FET doesn't work I have the back up of another full cycle before having to think about what our next steps are. Obviously would be best for us all if it just worked this time!

Mseddy · 23/07/2020 08:46

@seven201 yeah that's what we did, but we didn't get any eggs for any FETs on the first round so we are straight into the second round. I think if we go for egg donation after this we will do it abroad. Only issue is that we will have to have DH frozen sperm shipped over first

@Bruce2 good luck today x

seven201 · 23/07/2020 09:26

@Mseddy good idea. I have no idea about ivf abroad but I'm sure somewhere on the infertility boards there will be someone who can help with the logistics of getting the frozen sperm shipped over. Not a problem to worry about yet.

Whoever it was who said norethisterone gave them constipation, thank you! I hadn't realised it was that so have just been waiting for it to sort itself out. After seeing your comment I got the lactulose out of the cupboard!

kikisparks · 23/07/2020 10:45

@seven201 haha it was me that said about the constipation, glad it has solved the mystery for you!

Bruce2 · 23/07/2020 10:45

Bruce2 · 23/07/2020 14:42

Thank you
Still nervous after 2 failed attempts so not getting hopes up. Just trying to eat healthy and go with the flow

Eggling · 24/07/2020 08:30

Good luck with the first injection @Bruce2! You'll be fine 😊

Last day of provera today then I'm waiting for a bleed. Hoping it's quicker than last time - I stopped norithisterone and didn't bleed for another almost two weeks 🙄 I just want to get going again now.

Ro198 · 24/07/2020 15:29

I went for my first scan after starting the injections today (I’ve had 3). They will probably cancel my cycle as I had a small cyst which has grown too large from the Bemfola. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering why they started the cycle if this could have potentially happened!

seven201 · 24/07/2020 15:57

@Ro198 oh I'm so sorry. That must be so very frustrating. I have no idea but my best guess is that they were hoping it wouldn't make the cyst grow but unfortunately it did.

kikisparks · 24/07/2020 16:02

@Eggling hope the bleed comes soon for you!

@Ro198 so sorry to hear that Sad This is my first round so no experience but I had heard that they can cancel cycles due to cysts, I thought that usually happened at the baseline scan though.

I hope that you get some answers soon.

CardboardCat · 24/07/2020 16:46

@Ro198 so sorry to hear that, it's really shit Sad

@Eggling really hope your bleed comes soon, each day feels like a week when it comes to this stuff.

I'm slightly in limbo just now. We have to finalise our decision to start in August in the next week (to get meds sorted in time) but my husband has come down with some weird stomach issues. He's bloated and feels discomfort in his stomach and lower back. He had mentioned it being uncomfortable a couple of times over the last few weeks but it wasn't until he told me he had made a Dr appointment that I realised how serious it was. He's now being treated for gastritis (although symptoms don't really match). He told me yesterday he can't imagine being up for doing his bit if he still feels so unwell. I just want him to be ok and I don't want him to feel guilty at all so I'm keeping a brave face on and telling him whatever happens is fine. Underneath I'm so desperate to start though and will be so disappointed if we have to delay.

Eggling · 24/07/2020 18:32

@Ro198 so sorry to hear that. I've no experience of cysts I'm afraid. It's so frustrating when you're geared up to go ahead. It's not the same, but my last cycle was freeze all and I was devastated as was all mentally prepared for transfer. Can they treat the cyst and try again soon?

Oh @CardboardCat poor you (and DH!), what a worry. I hope he feels better really soon 🤞🤞

Sorry to hear they're stopping your cycle. I hope they can sort everything out and you can get going again next month

Oh your poor hubby...and you. I can imagine that must be a funny feeling between frustration and guilt at being frustrated!
Most important thing is that he's ok
Fingers crossed nothing serious!

Izniz · 24/07/2020 22:14

Hi ladies! Joining on here too, had saline scan today and all went well. Coordination appointment next week and then natural fet implantation end of august. Super exited!
