August IVF

Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

@kikisparks good luck tomorrow, keeping everything crossed for lots of healthy eggs for you. I'm feeling a bit more relaxed re the follicles. Sounds like my original thought that they were all supposed to be the same size wasn't quite right!

Btw, is anyone taking anything to stop them triggering egg release ahead of schedule?? I'm only taking menopur- and just wondering if I've missed something!

@80SM I don't know about grades yet (am learning as I go!) but 5 eggs reaching day 3 sounds like a good number to me :)

CardboardCat · 11/08/2020 21:54

@kikisparks Really good luck tomorrow, what time do you have to go in?

@nextweek I hear you about the anti-climax. I've just done my fourth set of injections and so far I've felt a tiny bit nauseated but mostly just hot and a bit tired (like 90% of the population in this heat!). Sleeping is difficult but not really surprised as apparently it's still 28 degrees. I'm waiting to feel... something.

@Lepatz I don't have any experience but from what I understand things can change really quickly in follicle land!

@Mseddy You summed it up perfectly- there is so much that can go wrong. My clinic are not asking for a Covid test to be done but I am being offered one tomorrow at work. It's not mandatory but I feel morally like I have to take it up. I'm so worried though, I can't isolate at all and I work with a group of people that can't socially distance. I even had to spend all of Friday in A&E with one lady I support (I have to laugh or I'll cry!). I guess time will tell but at times I just wonder how IVF is EVER successful for anyone!!?!?!

Custardandcream · 11/08/2020 22:20

@kikisparks good luck for tomorrow

@Lepatz I think they can change pretty quickly

@CardboardCat I think the detachment feeling is a defence mechanism, much better to deal with each stage in turn rather than focus on the end goal. I’m just trying to take it one day at a time as so much can go wrong and I have had a successful cycle!

LizTay80 · 11/08/2020 22:41

Good luck tomorrow @kikisparks
Hope it all goes well for you and you get lots of lovely healthy eggs.

@80SM

I think it varies. I’ve known plenty of people’s embryos all make it from day 3 to 5. Try not to overthink it, I was torturing myself thinking none would make it but we had one strong one which formed a blastocyst and I’m currently in the 2ww. A lot of hope resting on this little one 🤞🏽

I can’t quite figure out which is harder, waiting patiently to hear from the embryologist or waiting to take a pregnancy test. 😬
Think we need to invent some sort of time machine....

We all have patience of saints! X

Mseddy · 11/08/2020 23:18

@Lepatz I start fyremadel tomorrow (day 6) which stops my eggs releasing early. I know all cycles are different but I think you should have something. What day are you?

I spilled half my meriofert injection tonight. Because I use 3 vials per injection that's 3 vials totally wasted because I had already mixed them all! I'm going to ring the clinic and ask for a prescription tomorrow to replace the ones I spilled but I'm SO annoyed at myself. It's £140 worth of drugs, plus a £50 handling fee if we get them from the company the clinic deal with.

@80SM

Hi ladies,

Does anyone know how many embryos make it from day 3 to 5?

We had 5 fertilised eggs using icsi (out of 11 collected, and I was seriously devastated), all miraculously made it to day 3. I have read there is a big drop off on day 5. I'm really worried. The embryos are in the range of 7-10 cells and grades 1-3.

Waiting for an embryologist's call is a torture.

Those numbers sound good, you'll probably have a few day 5's from that :) fingers crossed for you I know the feeling of waiting for embryologist! x
nextweek · 12/08/2020 09:37

@kikisparks Lots of luck today!
@Lepatz thanks for the covid test info, sounds like it's not as bad as I was anticipating.
@CardboardCat I think we're at the exact same stage, today is 5 of stims for me and I have a scan on Friday to see how things are progressing.
Still no side effects/symptoms for me. I'm taking Gonal F at the moment.

Mseddy · 12/08/2020 10:59

Good luck today @kikisparks

How is everyone else feeling? I am having way more symptoms than last time. I can feel my ovaries twinging, more on one side than the other. TMI warning, we DTD last night and had to stop because it was hurting me. So now I've convinced myself that I've got a cyst or something!

Ro198 · 12/08/2020 11:17

Good luck @kikisparks!

kikisparks · 12/08/2020 13:20

Thank you so so much everyone for the luck, nearly made me tear up to have you all thinking of me Smile that’s me in the car heading home. Embarrassingly I cried when I went into theatre, I’d been working myself up beforehand and there were so many people, I was getting asked to do lots of things and it just all overwhelmed me but the anaesthetists were so lovely and pretty quick to was out for the count. It all went well and they got 12 eggs which I’m delighted with. I am finding the cramps pretty sore but coping and can take more paracetamol at 2pm. Find out tomorrow how many fertilised and will start taking the pessaries.

@Mseddy sorry to hear about your spilled medication that’s stressful and annoying Sad. I was pretty sore a few days into stims and would not have been able to DTD, your ovaries will probably just be painful due to the medication.

Jacky83 · 12/08/2020 14:33

Had my progress scan today. Haven't been feeling any side effects so was worried nothing was happening but I've got seven good sized follicles. Got another scan on Friday as some of my follicles are ready to go but others are small so hoping they will have caught up by then.

Looks like egg collection on Monday for me. Really quite nervous about that part. Husband can't be with me.

Really surprised by how everything has gone so far. This is my first cycle and I thought I would be a hormonal mess by now and in a lot of pain from the injections. I'm neither just a bit achey around ovaries.

The fear and worrying about everything beforehand has been the worst part so far.

At both scans the nurse has complained about my gassy bowel though! Apparently it blocks her view, husband thinks that is hilarious. Probably shouldn't have told him!

80SM · 12/08/2020 14:40

Thanks for answers.
Sorry, don't know how to link individual names. Do I just copy and paste?

I had a transfer of two embryos today, feeling okay now. Test day is in 11 days, which is such a long wait.

nextweek · 12/08/2020 15:35

@Jacky83 that's great that you've been feeling ok throughout the process. It's such a shame that partners can't attend the procedures for moral support.
@80SM Hope you're feeling ok after your transfer, sending you lots of luck for your two embryos!

80SM · 12/08/2020 16:06

@nextweek. I'm feeling okay , thank you. It's been such an emotional rollercoaster for me though. I had abnormal bleeding just befor EC, still bleeding until day 4. Until the last scan today on d5, I didn't know if I would have a transfer. Likely it all stopped and they transferred 2 embryos but only because the second one wouldn't make freezing. It was still at pre blast stage at the time of the transfer. The first embryo us at an early blast stage. I really hope at least one will make it. I have another one which might o might not be suitable for freezing tomorrow and the last two have almost given up but will wait for an embryologist call tomorrow. @

seven201 · 12/08/2020 17:53

Just popping on to say I'm bowing out of this thread. My lining still hasn't got any thicker so the doctor has cancelled my FET cycle. Massively shit obviously. No idea why as I had the same drugs as last time when my lining was fine.

Good luck with everything ladies xx

CardboardCat · 12/08/2020 19:38

@Mseddy Nooooooo, that is so annoying about spilling the vial. So far I'm feeling ok, only noticeable symptom is some nausea and a slight decrease in appetite (very noticeable for me as I usually eat a lot). I can't feel any ovary symptoms or twinges but taking comfort from @Jacky83 feeling the same and having a good number of follicles.

@nextweek Yep, we are at exactly the same stage. I'm on Gonal-f, Menopur and added in Fyremadel this morning too. Also not feeling too much on the symptom front, here's hoping we've both got quiet but efficient ovaries!

@kikisparks So glad it went well!! That's an amazing number of eggs as well. What have you got planned for the next day or two?

@80SM Good luck! Thinking of you and your embryos on board xx

CardboardCat · 12/08/2020 19:39

@seven201 Awww seven, so sorry that it's been cancelled. Hopefully you can get going again soon and your lining plays ball. xx

kikisparks · 12/08/2020 20:06

@80SM congrats on the transfer, good luck! 11 days is a long wait, do you have anything planned to distract yourself?

@Jacky83 that’s great to have your egg collection scheduled- will it be under sedation? My DH couldn’t be with me either but they did let him get me just outside the recovery room to carry my bag to the car.

@seven201 So sorry to hear that Flowers hope you get to go again next cycle and the drugs do what they need to.

@CardboardCat I’m off tomorrow and will be reading a book or watching some tv on the couch I think! After I got home today I slept for a few hours, now awake and have eaten and watching tv, feeling ok. Also tomorrow I get to put in my first pessaries, not too excited about that! I’m also planning to test out the trigger. And I should get the call from the embryologist of how many eggs fertilised. Back at work on Friday. When is your next scan?

Mseddy · 12/08/2020 20:06

@seven201 sorry your cycle has been cancelled. This journey sucks sometimes! Fingers crossed for a nice thick lining next cycle.

@CardboardCat I started fyremadal this morning too so we must all be at the same point. I rang the clinic about the drugs this morning and she told me not to worry. She said I might only need 11 days stims rather than the 12 they always provide so it might not matter. They will decide on my day 9 scan and get me more if needed

kikisparks · 13/08/2020 10:15

First pessary done and wasn’t bad at all, had to get up very early though so that I could lie down for half an hour after and let it absorb. Feeling fine now after egg collection except for constipation, been drinking prune juice! Pain is nearly gone.

Just got the call that 10 eggs fertilised, absolutely thrilled with that, just will be a long wait now until embryo transfer on Monday, crossing everything that some or at least one of these little guys hang in there until then. We don’t get any more calls now unless a lot drop off by Day 3 in which case they might call me to come in on Saturday for a day 3 transfer.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok and not feeling too uncomfortable!

nextweek · 13/08/2020 11:10

That's fantastic @kikisparks 10 fertilised is fab!

@seven201 so sorry your cycle has been cancelled

MrsT36 · 13/08/2020 11:31

Thanks everyone for your replies. I’d rather be prepared if I’ll be going it alone this time. Still got a few weeks to se what happens

@Mseddy that’s so annoying! Especially with the he extra cost!

@kikisparks that’s great news! Really good numbers so got everything crossed for your update 🤞🏻

@seven201 I’m so sorry that’s totally shit. There’s just so many times in this journey something happens and no one can give you any reason why. Glad we’ve got this board and people who know what it’s like to talk to. Sending you (and your lining!) lots of luck for the next cycle.

@80SM so excited for you having your embryos on board. Got everything crossed for you. The TWW is the worst hope you’ve got something to take your mind off it?

Sabz36 · 13/08/2020 15:17

Hope everyone is good. Just wanted to share some good Netflix films for the those good emotions Tammy - literally laughed the whole film aside from a few touching moments. If anyone has any recommendations for the TWW good emotional health please do let me know.

kikisparks · 13/08/2020 16:31

@MrsT36 Thank you Smile

@Sabz36 that’s a great idea! I’ve seen Tammy I love Melissa McCarthy. Spy is also a lot of fun if you haven’t seen it, it’s on Netflix too.

Sabz36 · 13/08/2020 16:46

@kikisparks great thanks I'll have a watch tonight
