Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

Ladies

If you want a giggle I just want to tell you what my DH thought a blastocyst was....

He thought it was a technique in which they blast the embryo into my uterus...
Like a water pistol.... 😂😂😂 honestly!!!!

MrsT36 · 04/08/2020 15:25

Hi, I’ve been reading thorough the thread and hope it’s ok if I join?
I’m due to have a FET at some point in the next few weeks, on my buseralin injections and waiting for AF currently.
We’re trying a medicated cycle this time as this is number 4 for me;
Fresh - BFP early miscarriage
FET 1 - BFN
FET 1 - BFN
We’re unexplained and have just had the ERA/EMMA/ALICE. It found nothing wrong and it sounds silly but I was heartbroken 💔 I just want some answers or reassurance that this time might work.
Finding it hard atm as we were due 17/08 With the first transfer and all these injections are making me extra tearful!!!
Sorry for the long intro and 🤞🏻 This is a lucky thread! Xxx

Mseddy · 04/08/2020 15:43

@MrsT36 welcome. Sorry for your previous cycles not going to plan. Feel free to be as teary and emotional as you need to be on this thread Smile fingers crossed for your FET.

@LizTay80 bless him! That's hillarious! I guess blast assist was maybe what he was thinking?! Grin

@LizTay80 best of luck tomorrow with the transfer, will keep everything crossed for you. Plus your comment about your husband and the blastocyst made me laugh out loud!!

I’ve just been out for a little run (well jog) which seems to have helped!

@MrsT36 you’ve had a difficult time of it and I totally get where you are coming from with due date looming. I struggled with that at the end of last year but try and have something nice planned for that day if you can

CardboardCat · 04/08/2020 16:47

@LizTay80*@StayingPositive8 and @Ro198* wishing you all the best of luck with your transfers. I hope this is the one for all of you.

I'm feeling a bit crap this afternoon. I got home from work an hour ago, I'm tired and I can't stop grazing on sweet things- had some popcorn and keep going back for "just 1 more" square of chocolate about a million times. Meh, probably pre-menstrual but I feel bad like I'm not being the organic chick pea eating goddess I thought I should be this close to the start of my cycle.

CardboardCat · 04/08/2020 16:50

@MrsT36 Tears and emotion all welcome here. Sorry your previous cycles didn't work out and I understand the pain around the due date and the what ifs that go along with it 😔 Got everything crossed for you that this is your cycle.

Lt2020 · 04/08/2020 17:01

What birth controls have you all been using? I used sprintec for my egg retrieval but it made me feel yucky. Then I tried sprintec again and made me have chest pains...so they out me on a variety of meds. Went to baseline and had a cyst so that ivf cycle got cancelled. I went with the sprintec again these past few weeks. That stuff is rough but so far it did its job along with making me miserable. Starting progesterone tomorrow for transfer Monday. Crazy what we put our bodies through.

Lepatz · 04/08/2020 17:12

My period came! Never been so pleased to see it haha. Booked in for the down reg scan on Thursday.

Sounds like I'm a bit behind many of you - wishing all of you having transfers this week lots of luck with your little embies.

Good tip on recording the calls @Mseddy !

CardboardCat · 04/08/2020 18:44

@Lepatz Woohoo!!! I'm genuinely really happy for you getting your period! 😂

Lt2020 · 04/08/2020 19:35

@CardboardCat Thank you and best of luck to you

kikisparks · 04/08/2020 21:02

@Lepatz yay! It’s the one time we celebrate our period coming haha.

kikisparks · 04/08/2020 21:06

@StayingPositive8 fingers crossed, hang in there little embies!

@Ro198 fingers crossed for your embryos too, positive thoughts for them!

Custardandcream · 04/08/2020 21:57

Good luck with the transfer @LizTay80

Good luck to everyone in between egg collection and transfer, waiting to hear how the embryos are doing is very stressful

Raggity19 · 04/08/2020 22:09

Just had a meeting with our consultant - we’re going to delay by a month, I’m so anxious at the minute so we’re going to go away next week for a few days and try and relax. Then hopefully start on day 1 of next cycle which will move me to the September thread haha. I’ll still check in on here as would love to know how everyone gets on. Good luck to you all, thank you for all the advice xxxx

seven201 · 04/08/2020 22:20

I'm having trouble keeping up! I'm on my phone so can't scroll around for names easily.

Someone said they were told they might have to wait for their embryos until day 6 and we're worried. One of ours is a day 6 one, was just slower than the other two that made it. I think that's the one I'm having put in this cycle.

Whoever said the progesterone injections are whoppers - I hear you! When I first saw the massive needle that's for drawing it up I thought it was the one going in my bum. Luckily not!

Whoever said they struggle to understand the embryologist. Me too. The one who calls from my clinic is Spanish and speaks fast. I just keep asking her to repeat and make it clear I'm trying to write it down. She usually slows down then.

Haha at blastocyst being to help shoot it into the right place. My dh comes out with some very wrong ivf ideas sometimes. I only need him for his sperm and bum injection skills though so it's fine.

I'm still struggling with headaches from the norethisterone. And I'm a mess emotionally and just a snappy cow. No idea if i can blame that on the norethisterone. Sunday I got to that near can't cope at all phase but have been a little less crazy the past few days. I just can't stop worrying about if this one doesn't work and I have an egg collection in autumn/winter and it being cancelled because someone in my classroom developing symptoms. I'm obsessing about it and that's just not my usual personality at all. If I could afford to quit my job I would. Infertility in a pandemic has really screwed me up.

I've decided to limit what I do until transfer (hopefully next Thursday) so no more play dates or playgrounds for my 4 year/old. My clinic don't ask for shielding but I'm paranoid someone we see might develop symptoms right at the wrong time for my treatment.

seven201 · 04/08/2020 22:22

And congratulations to those who have had their period arrive Grin!

Thinking of the ladies who are in the wait between egg collection and transfer/freeze. Such a tense long wait!

seven201 · 04/08/2020 22:23

@Raggity19 that sounds sensible. You've got to be in the zone for it.

kikisparks · 05/08/2020 10:04

@Raggity19 sounds like you’ve made the right decision for you, best of luck to you for September and hope you get a relaxing trip away.

CardboardCat · 05/08/2020 10:44

@seven201 I totally understand your worries about the Covid situation. I work in care and I'm taking about 9 days off over stims and (hopefully) egg retrieval but I still have to work during the first week of stims and I'm going back before transfer. We have been so lucky/cautious and have stayed covid free in the home I work in, we support adults with learning disabilities with high and complex needs. So often though, people will present with a temp or something else and we have to treat "as if" until we can be sure it isn't Covid. I'm so aware of how little it would take to derail the cycle and it makes me nervous. My clinic don't advise to isolate at all and haven't even mentioned a covid swab which I find a bit strange. I'm just hoping it all works out 🤞

Ro198 · 05/08/2020 10:46

Best of luck @LizTay80!

CardboardCat · 05/08/2020 10:51

Good luck today! @LizTay80 😁

seven201 · 05/08/2020 11:22

@LizTay80 good luck today

@CardboardCat that sounds stressful. Hopefully there'll be no false alarms at your work before your transfer. I get annoyed at myself for worrying about things that might not even happen! It's a vicious cycle.

Just realised I wrote norethisterone giving me headaches, I meant progynova!

CardboardCat · 05/08/2020 13:10

@seven201 to be honest, I hadn't really thought about it until I typed all that out! Confused

LizTay80 · 05/08/2020 14:48

Thank you ladies!

It went well. Really great view on the ultrasound, looked like a little firework going in!
We only ended up having one, the other 3 didn’t quite make it. A lot of hope resting on this little bean. The embryologist said this was a top quality blastocyst though so fingers crossed it holds on in there 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Hope you are all doing ok xx

seven201 · 05/08/2020 15:15

@LizTay80 that's great that the transfer went well.

@CardboardCat oh sorry! Blush
