Hi

Couldn't see a thread for May/June - hoping that I'm not on my own for this cycle as its our 2nd cycle and feeling worried that I won't get to transfer.

Would be great to share the ups and downs with others, I'm starting buserelin next Wednesday (27th May).

@takingthistooseriously good luck for tomorrow! I think they are aiming for a min of 17mm not dead on. Hope you have a relaxing day if you can

takingthistooseriously · 31/05/2020 10:01

Thanks @MorgenMuffel and @Dbrook

@Dbrook glad your first injection went well. This is my first cycle and after about day 3 the injections were totally fine, I found my trigger one a bit emotional I think due to all the hormones by that point Grin

@MorgenMuffel thank you, they have been a bit light on information at the clinic so I have been frantically googling! What day are you on now and when is test day?!

MorgenMuffel · 31/05/2020 10:20

@Dbrook glad it went ok. Completely agree that you'll be a pro in no time.

@takingthistooseriously I'm now 5dp5dt. Test day on Thurs! Trying to get lots of rest over the weekend. Starting to get very nervous...

elleceedee · 31/05/2020 10:42

All the egg chat made me laugh - when I was doing stimms, I used to take two boiled eggs into work as a snack. My colleagues were Hmm as they were so used to seeing me stuff my face with chocolate! My desk was right next to a window so used to practically hang out the window eating them as I know the smell of cooked eggs isn't for everyone Blush

@takingthistooseriously good luck for collection on Monday! I really tried not to worry about measurements as there's so much variation and I figured my clinic would be doing what they thought was best.

@HJF84 great news about the follicle! Just remember it doess only take one! There's a lot to be said for quality over quantity - I got loads of eggs but the quality wasn't brilliant. Hope the injections go smoothly.

@Dbrook good luck for your injections! Hope the YouTube video refreshed your memory! I'm such a worrier and panicked about doing mine but my clinic reassured me there's very little I could do to mess it up!

@MorgenMuffel not long until Thursday, hope you can find something to keep you busy and take your mind off it until then! Do you already have tests in the house?

@ivfgottostaypositive good luck for Monday, hope they've done some super growing!

Hope everyone's doing ok! I am just patiently (!) waiting for my period to arrive so I can call my clinic. Any day now...

LongtermTTC · 31/05/2020 11:44

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but we are due to start our first IVF cycle when AF arrives but I am now 24 DPO with no sign and still a BFN. Has anyone had anything similar with late/missing AF? What happens if I just don’t get my AF - do I have to just wait it out and see if I get one next month?

My cycles are irregular but the luteal phase has always been 10 days. According to the OPK I ovulated early on day 7 (not unusual for me) but even if that was a false positive I am now cycle day 31 which is longer than my cycles have ever been.

Starting to feel like the universe is trying to tell me something - last time I tried to start IVF the clinics shut down and this time I’m 2 weeks late! I’m 38 and have low AMH so now totally paranoid that maybe this is the start of menopause. I just want to start IVF now 😭

Any advice would be much appreciated before I lose my mind! x

MorgenMuffel · 31/05/2020 13:33

@LongtermTTC sorry to hear that, must be so frustrating. Have you spoken to your clinic? I'm sure they will have come across a similar situation many times before so will know the best way to proceed e.g. they might be able to give you medication to induce a bleed and get things moving so to speak. I'd give them a ring tomorrow - let us know how you get on!

ivfgottostaypositive · 31/05/2020 13:54

@LongtermTTC

I've had a couple of wonky periods - I'm usually 29 days like clockwork and in February had a 40 day one. Clinic said cycle that month was obviously a rubbish quality one - I ovulated about 9 days later than usual so they said not to go ahead with egg collection. Everything went back to normal the following month though. If you don't get your period in the next week I'd speak to your clinic and ask for a scan to see what's going on or I know friends who have had their MIA periods induced by going on progesterone or the pill for a couple of weeks

MorgenMuffel · 31/05/2020 15:36

@elleceedee I've been pottering in the garden today which has kept my mind off things thanks. Mon and Tues are pretty busy with work but Wednesday is going to be tough going I think. I feel really sick today which is prob my IBS but my mind can't help racing away!

RosettaR · 31/05/2020 18:00

@elleceedee I tried to take boiled eggs to work but I just really don't like them. I wish I did! Lol at eating them out the window, I would feel the same and when I did take them to work I used to hide in our little common room to eat them!

@LongtermTTC I love your name, that is how it feels! I'm sorry you're in limbo, and I agree to talk to your clinic about it. I'm sure they will be able to suggest a course of action - it won't be the first time this has happened to someone they are treating. But in all likelihood af will turn up any day now. Try not to worry, it is normal to have a weird or even anovulatory cycle every now and then.

@MorgenMuffel best of luck on Thursday (and distracting yourself until then)!

I'm on day 2 of down regulation, spent most of today just feeling grumpy and fed up for no reason ... not sure if that's a side effect or just the way I am today!

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 31/05/2020 19:53

@RosettaR

I’m on day one of down reg today. I was soooooo excited to start!!!! Wohooo!

Last time one of the meds madd mr loose my memory!! It was weird but I’m hoping it was a different one and not the Buserelin.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the sun today. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

ivfgottostaypositive · 31/05/2020 20:15

Congrats to everyone starting down reg!

I started cetrotide AND luveris as well as Bemfola tonight so 3 injections to do in the space of an hour - scan nr 3 in the morning so hopefully follicles have started to grow

I'm tentatively thinking it will be a Saturday egg collection so got to schedule in an early night with DH no 48 hours before to reduce chance of sperm fragmentation - I've told him it's the last scheduled sex we ll ever have though to appease him 🤣

MorgenMuffel · 31/05/2020 21:24

@ivfgottostaypositive good luck with all those injections! Hope your scan goes well tomorrow, and that OH enjoys his part in the run up to egg collection 😂

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip woohoo, great news that your cycle has started 😄

@RosettaR hope you're feeling a little brighter now.

DH and I have discussed today what we want to do if this cycle fails, and I think we've settled on doing another natural FET - straight away if possible (which also means I can stay on this thread with all the lovely support from you all) We are both pretty uncertain about doing any more tests given the evidence for them is pretty on the fence. I think we will need to do a fair bit more research first, but given we've got unexplained infertility and of three fail I think we are going to be pretty frustrated that we don't know why it's not working.

ivfgottostaypositive · 01/06/2020 09:05

Morning everyone so one follicle outgrowing the others 😢 so got to hope the others catch up 🤞 for Wednesday x

Mrbay · 01/06/2020 10:00

Morning all!

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip - I found it was the stimms that gave me baby brain - total fail on EC day - got asked my date of birth and I just shouted the year only - the nursing team and doc burst into giggles and said someone has baby brain! I'm glad the team get my humour as I would have done the same and did when my brain caught up!

@MorgenMuffel - I think its good to discuss next steps as unfortunately the odds are against us but I've decided that this is my last go, if it doesn't work that's it - knowing me, I'll change my mind again and use my last free go and then be done.

@ivfgottostaypositive - good luck - perhaps up the protein, they might help the others catch up and I am not going to say the fav phrase as personally it gets on my nerves!

@RosettaR - potentially, I find buserelin gives me the blues - this time round its knocked me for six I am so tired - not sure if that's because I am on the pill as well.

Well, I am going to start doing a daily period dance so that I don't miss my scan a week on Weds - need to get on with stims as they are taking up vital food space in the fridge.

Regarding protein, Aldi have some 25g protein yogurts - nice easy way to top up your levels :)

I feel sooo naive..
My FS isnt very informative I suppose its their business to do IVF its how they mske money here in Aus but until I joined threads and read more and looked at my AMH and saw other peoples experiences i thought IVF went like .. everyone gets 20 eggs then 10 fertilise and then its like 80% chance it works

And then when she briefly mentioned having a fair few goes at it to even get 5 eggs

Iv become less positive and excited to get my injections next saturday i didnt realise how much left of a sttuggle we still have ahead of us
Im so glad there is this thread i bet il have 100 of questions when we get further into it

Iv started on the eggs and protein yoghurt lets ignore the chinese take awaybwe got on friday hahaa

Have a good week everyone ! Xx

MrsLouB · 01/06/2020 13:24

Happy Monday ladies how is everyone doing today? Xx

It feels like the longest wait ever to get to ET stage but i have my scan tomorrow so hoping with everything crossed that my lining is on the thick side well i would love it to be 8mm but ill take 7.5 and up x

HJF84 · 01/06/2020 17:12

@ivfgottobepositive Looks like we're in the same boat. But at least this won't be a cancelled cycle for you. The body has selected it's best candidate naturally. I have a scan tomorrow and we'll see if any of mine have caught up, but I really doubt it. They were so small compared to my huge 13mm!

@MrsLouB I'm good - I started cetrotide last night, which is crazy as I only started bemfola the night before. I'm so used to doing mild IVF that this natural modified has me a little confused.

I forgot how much stims made my boobs grow. Anyone else get this side effect? I need to get my bigger bras out 😂

ivfgottostaypositive · 01/06/2020 19:15

@HJF84

I genuinely think after 4 cycles in 12 months my body just is too knackered 🤣! My big follicle is 16mm (cycle day 9 and after 4 nights of bemfola) the rest are 11mm, 10mm, and a few 8mm then several smaller. The smaller ones haven't grown much at all since last week.

Like you im thinking just to go for the 1 and get this over with. If that's the one my body is saying is the best I don't want them to over stim me and sacrifice the big one for the sake of the smaller ones. My first natural modified cycle in January m I only got 2 follicles and that was the best round in terms of both fertilising and both making it to freeze

MrsLouB · 01/06/2020 19:54

@HJF84 hey yeah my boobs get swollen and go up in size when im on the meds i am also feeling quite tight and crampy which is strange i didnt think i got this last time but feel like af is coming.

Oh well scan tomorrow to see whats going on im just hope all ive been doing has helped otherwise ill be super bummed

RosettaR · 01/06/2020 20:34

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip congrats on starting!! The memory loss sounds scary. I'm on synarel, I did some googling on side effects and I found an old mumsnet thread where someone said her husband had started calling it "the psycho drug" ... To be fair I'm quite capable of getting angry and irritable without being on drugs though so maybe dh won't notice the difference!

@MorgenMuffel it's good to have a plan. It's so frustrating that so many of the treatments and tests out there don't have much evidence. I wish there was a bit more certainty for us but there you go.

@Mrbay I'm really tired today too, I think because hay fever kept waking me up in the night rather than the drugs though. I'm looking forward to some cooler weather!

@Ails826 yes sadly no one gets an 80% chance with ivf. I used to really stress over my low AMH and my chances of success, but now we've started it feels easier just to tell myself it's out of our hands, we just have to take the drugs and go to the appointments and see what happens. Lots of people do get lucky!

Good luck for your scan @MrsLouB!

takingthistooseriously · 01/06/2020 21:41

good luck to @ivfgottostaypositive and @HJF84 hope your leading follicles are super ones

@MorgenMuffel it is good to have that chat I think. DH and I had a discussion in the car on the way to my EC today but decided we would really have to plan based on what this cycle tells us about likely prospects of future rounds, if anything. How are you feeling symptom wise?

hope those doing down reg are doing ok. I spent my 10 days of stims being angry at the world and not sure if that was just me or the drugs, I'd like to blame the drugs though!

@Mrbay how did your period dance go today?!

@MrsLouB good luck for your scan tomorrow!

I had EC this morning, the cannula was definitely the worst part, i could feel all the blood rushing out and down my arm - I assume that wasn't supposed to happen! Otherwise, I really enjoyed the gas and air lol they had to tell me to stop giggling at one point because I was bouncing too much Grin. Collected 12 eggs and now just hoping the next steps go ok

Mrbay · 01/06/2020 21:57

@Ails826 - please don't focus on AMH, the true test is when they start stimming you and there is lots you can do to improve egg and sperm quality - check out it starts with an egg, lots of people love it but I did find it a little overwhelming, so just made some positive changes.
Feel free to ask any questions, as for some of us, this has been a long journey!

@MrsLouB - it's such an emotional rollercoaster isn't it? I always wonder about the lining thickness - just so much to worry about.

@HJF84 - oh I totally forgot about the boob growth! I've been on the pill and they've jumped up 2/3 cup sizes, some people pay good money for this size, god knows why?

@RosettaR - it's so horrible isn't it? I forced myself out of bed this morning and started the day with a nice dog walk. Today I'm not feeling too bad, you?

@takingthistooseriously - I think I have magical powers, the dancing has gotten things started!!

I know a lot of peeps are taking protein or trying to up theirs - I feel that I have found the nicest protein ever, well as nice as powered milk can be - My protein sell a clear shake in fruit flavours, I've tried the mojito one today - pretty nice and I wish I'd ordered the tub!

Hopefully I've replied to everyone, sorry if I've haven't

Morning all nice early start for me today my minds going again and I'm irritated. Can i ask what you guys would do? My clinic on the first round of ivf transferred our Agrade embryo after EC and consultant said lining looked good...but we know that for a fresh transfer it had to be 8mm now a few days before egg collection it was only 5.6mm it was slow...now after this failed attempt i spoke to another consultant who confirm the lining wasnt measured at EC but really should of been and yes my other light periids early Mcs etc did sound like a lining issue. So onto FET and the baby aspirin and estrogen supplement to help now on day 14scan as we where away it was only 6.7mm and on day 17 it was 7.4/7.6mm and this was ok for and FET. So clearly on the fresh cycle it was no where near the 8mm it needed to be yet we transferred anyway ! Now lucky my inlaws have helped with extra cycles but originally we only had the money to do the one. I just feel that it was very slap dash and the thinking was oh well it will be fine another cycle will be needed. Then onto the FET and the pregnancy test they charge me for the blood test for hcg if the pregnancy test is inconclusive yet in the price list it states all blood tests are part of the package, plus no follow up after MC. It feels very much like a business which i know it is but no paitent care and just about how much extra money can be taken and then move onto the next couple if it doesn't work. Now not everyone makes me feel like this there but the first process really leaves a bitter taste you know.

I feel i need to address this with the lead consultant ? What would you do?

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 02/06/2020 06:56

Morning ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Sorry to hear about this @MrsLouB
It is there job to check everything and discuss each stage with you.
Looks like they haven’t been as thorough.

My clinic forgot to order my medication this week and then I had to chase it up but I’ve asked them to pay the express next day delivery courier fee as it wants my fault.

Things to help you:

  1. Ask for phone/video appt with consultant or senior member of staff at the clinic and explain it all
  2. Counselling is offered at my clinic - it is always good to talk things through.
  3. Buddy system - does your clinic have a buddy system. I have been given Contact details of someone at a similar treatment stage to me and after catching up with her I always feeel soooooo much better.

Hope you are ok and you can chat with someone today. Oh and also you’ve always got all of us on here! 💗 xxxxx

MrsLouB · 02/06/2020 07:43

Morning @UncleBrynsfishingtrip thanks for replying and letting me rant. No the clinic have no buddy system and ive had the consultations each time its the errors that they have made with that first cycle and also the lack of general consideration from them with follow ups and just being in it for the money anything etc they can charge for they will like the hcg blood test i had to pay for twice as there pregnancy test they gave me was rubbish and showed a faint line even tho levels where high. Just seems they take a lot and give nothing back its just a business to them and patients are just money.
