@carbsandcheese @granddesigns I'm due to start progynova next Monday ish so I think transfer would be around the 16th, very similar to you both!

I've been having a slight disagreement with my clinic. When our cycle was cancelled post EC, the consultant told me our FET would be fully funded inc meds. At a different conversation the nurse then asked what meds I happened to have left over, I told her I still had everything for the 2nd half of my cycle. Now, they're refusing to refund or supply the meds post transfer which I think is rather unfair when I was told in would be fully funded. Of course, that was over the phone and not in writing which doesn't help. We are self funded and the drugs are around £800 I think. Can people be honest and tell me if I'm being unreasonable?

PickleKid · 25/05/2020 14:23

That seems unfair. What will you need to pay for?

Pinktruffle · 25/05/2020 14:27

@Rumtopf I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. The cycle was cancelled through no fault of your own why should you now be penalised for that?

Thank you for all the congratulations guys x

granddesigns · 25/05/2020 14:49

Not unreasonable to me @Rumtopf - as others have said it wasn't your fault you were cancelled and they agreed to fund the FET - mine asked what was left and sent everything else including a spare box of the cyclogest as we had about 8 out of the first box and it would mean the ones they sent us will get us to testing day.... hopefully it will get resolved and an outcome that makes all the to ing and fro ing worthwhile.

confused107 · 26/05/2020 08:13

Doesn't sound unreasonable at all to me @rumtopf. They told you it would be funded. Can you remember who you spoke to? I would certainly query it

Rumtopf · 26/05/2020 09:03

It was the lead consultant at the clinic that told me that. Although it sounds like I'm in a similar position to @granddesigns. They want me to use the meds I'd already bought (which are sitting in my bathroom cupboard atm).

I think I'm just so fearful of this round not working, and the cost of the medication for future rounds that I'm being too literal.

PickleKid · 30/05/2020 14:55

Today I'm moving from the London flat and fully to Southampton. The combination of stress, ongoing morning sickness and an empty stomach was some pretty violent heaving. So much so that it was heave and pee, heave and pee. I suppose it's preparation for what's to come but I wasn't planning on another load of laundry! Confused

Pinktruffle · 30/05/2020 15:57

Aww bless you @PickleKid. I thought I was over the sickness but puked again last night. It's brushing my teeth that seems to do it every time!

I'm sure you'll be relieved to be moved in and able to settle before baby comes along. Have you starting thinking about buying stuff for the baby? I've started looking but I'm too scared to purchase anything yet!

PickleKid · 30/05/2020 16:44

@Pinktruffle I bought a tea towel years ago when travelling in New Zealand (last adventure before "trying"). Been saving it 6 years now. It will be framed for a baby room and my best friend is making a blanket in the colours. But I'm not buying anything. I just can't yet.

PickleKid · 30/05/2020 16:45

@Pinktruffle tooth brushing is the worst, you are not wrong!

Rumtopf · 30/05/2020 20:38

@picklekid you poor thing, are you feeling less nauseous now? Is that it for the London flat or have you still more to do?
That tea towel is beautiful, lovely colours to work with for a nursery.

confused107 · 31/05/2020 10:26

How's everyone doing?

@PickleKid hope the move went ok. Love the tea towel and @Pinktruffle I'm sorry you are still not feeling great. I get waves of tiredness and sickness but it seems to be easing off a little. I'm not sure this heat helps

@Rumtopf did you sort out the funding with your clinic?

I had my scan Friday. All ok but they couldn't measure the babies neck as it was in the wrong position for the nuchal (is that the right word?) so I've been offered a blood test for Down's syndrome at 15 weeks. Just wondering what every else's take on these tests are. I know I'm higher risk as I'm older but I doubt it would affect my decision to continue the pregnancy so I'm not sure what to do...

Pinktruffle · 31/05/2020 10:44

@PickleKid I love the tea towel, what an absolutely lovely idea.

@confused107 I feel good most of the time, it just seems to be brushing my teeth that's makes me sick!
I managed to get the Nuchal translucency measured (eventually, little bean didn't want to play ball and was busy doing backflips) I also had a blood test - I was worried myself as I'm 37. I would have kept the baby regardless of the results but I wanted to do the test so I could be prepared for what the future would bring. I got my results back this Friday and was less than 1 in 10000 for Down Syndrome and less that 1 in 100000 for Edwards/Patau.

Pinktruffle · 31/05/2020 10:45

Also, lovely scan photo, it looks cute as a button! Are you going to find out the gender?

Rumtopf · 31/05/2020 19:08

@confused107 what a great scan pic! Shame they couldn't see the nuchal fold but I'd go ahead with the blood test. Even though you think it wouldn't effect how you would behave in the future I think it's helpful to have knowledge and realistic expectations. Be aware though they can give inaccurate results, my dd tested as very likely to have spina bifida (less than 1 in 100 chance) but was absolutely fine, the anomalous result was down to bleeding during pg.

No, the funding hasn't been sorted out, but what can I do. I need a good relationship with them as we're about to start this cycle as today is day1 and I don't need any added stress. I'll make my point and feelings known when I next go in as otherwise I'll fester but other than that I just have to drop it.

confused107 · 31/05/2020 22:21

Thanks @Rumtopf and @Pinktruffle. I think you are right, it's nice to be prepared even if it doesn't effect how we proceed.

Yes, I think we are going to find out the sex @Pinktruffle. My DH is keen too, which has surprised me and I'm cool either way. If he is not able to come to the 20 week scan I might ask them not to tell me the sex there, then go for a private one afterwards so that we can find out together

Sorry to hear you are still haven't sorted the funding @rumtopf but how exciting that you are on day one! I understand your thinking. It's more important to look forward, I think I would have to say something too though

PickleKid · 31/05/2020 23:25

@confused107 make sure ahead of time you can have him at the private scan and that the clinic is doing them if you just want to know gender. The Window to the Womb in Southampton is not allowing any of that- because I had the same thought.

PickleKid · 31/05/2020 23:31

@Rumtopf great news about day one. It will be a journey but thankfully one with less needles than the one you recently did!Hoping you'll see the BFP in a few weeks! 💜

confused107 · 01/06/2020 06:54

Thanks @PickleKid. We have already had a private scan at 'meet your miracle' and he was allowed in and they have emailed to say that they expect to be operating as normal from 1st June, so hopefully all ok. I don't know if there is one of those near you?

I'm hoping to see lots of BFPs from those that had cycles put on hold in the coming weeks

Rumtopf · 01/06/2020 11:18

@Picklekid same amount of needles I'm afraid. I've got Cyclogest pessaries but Lubion and Clexane injections too!

My dh let on how excited he is just knowing that there's a little frozen embryo that's a combination of our cells the other day, which is very sweet! Now hoping that it survives the thaw as otherwise we have to start from scratch.

PickleKid · 01/06/2020 11:40

That's helpful, thanks @confused107
My OH has gone the other way now and might not want to know... but I think I might find out at my NHS scan anyway! If he changes his mind I will tell him.

granddesigns · 01/06/2020 12:01

Good to see the updates and progress on here (not sure why notifications sometimes come through and sometimes don't bother!) so just a quick update from the down reg scan and another bump in the road for us - prostap not yet worked! Review in another week and worst case another down reg injection, best case a week further on and transfer now looking like end of June.... could be July - relived they can keep going till it's worked but system not quite got the message yet. That said, it's been repeatedly told to make thick lining for the last 2 years ish so is not convinced when it's being told to switch off I think! Hope others having scans following down reg have more success!

SpyroC · 01/06/2020 17:03

Lovely scan pic @confused107

Sorry to hear your scan didn't go to plan @granddesigns. Let's hope for the best case scenario. Our poor bodies must be so confused.

I am officially in cycle 2 but I don't actually do anything until the 18th. It's weird, 1st time around I was nervous but excited. This time I'm more relaxed but not excited. I think I'm kind of numb to it.

OP posts:
SpyroC · 01/06/2020 17:04

I should add that I think the massive invoice on round 2 might not be helping!

OP posts:
Rumtopf · 02/06/2020 14:44

@granddesigns sorry about the scan results, your body must be so confused at the different hormones, hope the next one gives you better news. Good that you can still proceed even if it takes a little longer.

@SpyroC those invoices do make you twitch don't they? If there was a higher % success rate I think I'd be happier about spending it, but the number of women on this thread who are now showing us their beautiful 12 week scans is reassuring. I think I was putting a deposit down on a house the last time I spent so much in one go!
