Hello, starting a new thread for those of us starting a new cycle after the holidays.

My background: one successful round of ivf a few years back resulted in my lovely DS and now trying for a second. We are about to go for round 3, following 1 bfn and 1 mc.

At the moment I am waiting for af to appear. Seem to be about to ovulate according to opk. So guessing should expect af in about 2 weeks time.

Going for natural FET with progesterone support. The question for me is whether to add steroids too. A little scared of long terms risks so we will see...

@Russkispy @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted @Christabelle89
I remember from previous threads you were doing, or thinking of doing another round in Jan?

Everybody welcome to join, wherever you are on your journey. It's a tough business, keeping company helps. Good luck!

Aww how are you doing @mincedpea the Lloyds mare and foal get me too.

@jodesxx I'm so sorry you didn't get more positive news. Hopefully with the AMH test you'll have a successful cycle after your period.

@Ging78 😬 I'm going to try to resist temptation until Saturday. Not sure how successful I will be with that. 😬😂

Fingers crossed with your transfer. Mine was last Wednesday and got that very faint (almost non-existent line yesterday). I had a FET of one 5 day embryo if that helps. So that's after 7 days. (Unless my maths has just gone up the creek). 😬

This evening I have established that I cannot stand the smell of garlic. Not sure if this is a symptom or just the consequence of not being able to eat spinach at the weekend as MIL had cooked it with so much garlic. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hufflepuff1 · 05/02/2020 21:59

@mincedpea I'm on fyremadel for a week along with progynova and dalacin and then I have a scan next week to check my lining, as long as its ok I should then start lubion injections whilst waiting for a transfer date. It all depends on how it goes next week tbh.
@sometimesalways so sorry to hear of your previous upsets, really hope its your time now. Do you mind me asking what grade the embryos that you did have transferred were? I'm really concerned that we've only got two left and that neither will work.

@KE2017 that definitely looks like a line to me! For my fresh transfer I tested 6 days after my transfer and got a similar faint line and then tested again a few days later and the line got darker. I used a first response test too.

Hufflepuff1 · 05/02/2020 22:01

@jodesxx so sorry to hear your news, please don't lose hope, your AMH needs testing so they can give you the right dose, this actually happened to a friend of mine so don't lose hope as it just means ur meds need adjusting. These doctors don't know everything but you will get there x

Hufflepuff1 · 05/02/2020 22:04

@Ging78 I also had a 5AB for my fresh transfer and tested really early! Initially got a faint line which got darker as the days went on. Good luck, 5AB is great and it's positive hearing your frostie remained intact, I hope mine is the same 🤞

sometimesalways · 05/02/2020 22:20

Thank you @Hufflepuff1 @Ging78 I guess in my previous tries I didn't have doubts and felt quite optimistic it would work, naively, cause DS happened first time round last time we tried. I think two 'failures' in a row knocked my confidence.. we shall see. Maybe third time lucky.

DS was AA grade. All my remaining embryos are various AB grades (including my bfn and mc - latter was 3ab if memory serves). Admit I haven't been paying too much attention to the grading as they are what they are and I don't think I will do another fresh try again (have another 4 left in the freezer) and also I have heard from many people that grades don't really matter too much. Not sure how much truth there is to that.

Good luck on the TWW @Ging78 ! So on the 12th will be 8dp3dt ? Or 5dt? If former perhaps a bit early.. if latter I think it might be more likely to get a result, but perhaps still a bit early. My clinic always tests at 14dp5dt, which is ridiculous but at least you know for sure what's going on..:

Sorry to hear about your scan @jodesxx next cycle won't be too far away! We waited one cycle anyway and time really flew

@Russkispy did af arrive? Do you have your next transfer date?

OP posts:
Hufflepuff1 · 05/02/2020 22:34

@sometimesalways I have also heard re it not being about the grading. I remember one of the nurses on my fresh cycle saying it could be the most beautiful embryo and not implant and that's the most frustrating thing in this whole process.
I really hope ur next cycle is the one to stick x

Russkispy · 05/02/2020 23:01

@sometimesalways I was AWOL since my last post as I was waiting for AF and the bastard keep me waiting and waiting! By Monday, I was ready to murder someone when the fecking bastard finally graced me with her appearance! 🤬🤬🤬 I flew out home/clinic today, and will start Bemfola on Friday through a Tuesday and have my scan wit my doc on Tuesday after my last injection. And hopefully the scan and doc will tell me exact transfer day 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Sorry you've been feeling rubbish. This whole journey proves to fe such a crazy, emotional roller coaster! Sending big hugs Smile

KE2017 · 06/02/2020 08:10

🤞🏼 for you @Russkispy

sometimesalways · 06/02/2020 13:11

Ah those usual af shenanigans @Russkispy She always arrives when we don't need her and when you want her here nothing happens! Ha
glad it's all kicking off now, good luck 🤞🤞

Thanks for the nice pick-me-ups @Ging78 and @KE2017! Doing much better now that I'm WFH for a few days, easier to stay in control of my emotions. I had my 7 week viability scan yesterday and all was fine, phew. We're having a singleton (who knows where the other one went!) and we saw a good heartbeat. Immensely relieved to see the little pea/frog in there.

How exciting that you've had your transfer Ging, how are you feeling? My clinic also makes you wait 12dp5dt to test, which feels so long, particularly when the other girls on my previous IVF thread were all testing at 10 days. As sometimesalways says though, at least you know where you stand when you finally test after all that time.

@Russkispy Glad the witch has arrived and you get to start your treatment soon!

@jodesxx So sorry to hear your cycle has been cancelled. It's really frustrating to have wait again, but I am sure the docs are right about trying to get the best egg collection possible. I assume they'll adjust your treatment next time around. I had to wait 6 months between my egg collection and my first FET because I had a uterine polyp that had to be removed. It felt really long at first, but actually it was sort of nice to be outside of the IVF bubble for a bit. I hope you're doing ok and are not too disappointed now.

@KE2017 How's the TWW going? 3 days to go to OTD!

@Hufflepuff1 You're on a different meds protocol to me then. I hope the lining scan goes well next week.

@sometimesalways I think the grading doesn't always mean so much. I've heard of people transferring grade 2 embies at day 3 and it working out, and others with top level 5s not working. It's all a bit of a lottery, which makes it hard to stay optimistic sometimes. I hope you're ok too.

sometimesalways · 07/02/2020 11:46

Thank you @mincedpea It's ups and downs here but I think I will feel better once I start next week.

And what wonderful news about your scan!! I am thrilled for you and keeping 🤞🤞🤞. Are you going to do harmony testing or anything similar? I did do with DS and it was lovely to have another bonus scan inbetween all the waiting ha
When's your next landmark? 8 week scan?

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 07/02/2020 12:19

Afternoon everyone just back from egg collection - 7 eggs collected so now the dreaded 5 day wait to see what we get

We've agreed to freeze half of anything on day 3 if they are grade 1 top quality and let the other half get to blastocyst so we have a range of options come transfer next month

KE2017 · 07/02/2020 12:23

Glad you are doing better @mincedpea. Good that all was ok on your scan.

The TWW feels like it's taking forever....

KE2017 · 07/02/2020 12:24

Well done @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 for you. 7 is a good number. Xx

sometimesalways · 07/02/2020 12:40

7 is an excellent number @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted well done!

mincedpea · 07/02/2020 15:14

Great news @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted! Hope you're not feeling too sore. Fingers crossed for the next few days, hopefully these little eggs will do really well.

Thanks for the good wishes @KE2017 and @sometimesalways, I still can't believe any of it has worked. We've not thought about harmony testing, I'll do some research on it. In honesty, I'm so attached to this little pea that I can't bear the thought of anything being wrong with it. I'd almost rather stay ignorant. But that's me being a bit naive I think. I could definitely go for another scan though! Next thing for us is the booking in appointment next week and then a bit of wait for the 12 week scan. Still taking it one step at a time though.

Oh the TWW is soooo long! Any symptoms or signs yet @KE2017 (apart from that early HPT)?

When are you starting your treatment @sometimesalways? On the Monday? What will they be giving you to take?

KE2017 · 08/02/2020 07:18

@mincedpea we didn't do a harmony type test last time, though we did have an extra scan at window to the wom. I can't remember how many weeks I was then though.

Then again I opted not to find out what we were having until he arrived. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No more symptoms for me other than a garlic aversion that may or may not be a symptom.

I'm still just being horribly impacted by the side effects of metformin, progynova and cyclogest. 😕

I don't know if I'll get through the next hour let alone the whole weekend without doing another test though. 🙈

KE2017 · 08/02/2020 08:34

Ok so I made it to third wee of the day before the temptation got too much. OTT is Monday. It's still not a fantastically bold line but hopefully it's a point in the right direction. 😬

Jan/Feb IVF/ICSI/FET here we go...
itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 08/02/2020 08:56

@KE2017
Congratulations that looks like a definite positive to me!

Ging78 · 08/02/2020 09:16

@KE2017 that's definitely a line congrats!

@mincedpea great news the scan went well. I know what you mean about wanting more scans. We did loads of private ones. We had a bleed that freaked us out.

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted 7 is great. Fingers crossed for them!

@russkipsy you must be so pleased to get started!

So trying not to go crazy in my 2ww. I reckon I'll test Wednesday. That will be 8dp5dt. There was some spotting yesterday which I'm trying so hard not to read too much into!

KE2017 · 08/02/2020 09:58

Thank you. Hopefully have it confirmed on Monday. I'm feeling so emotional this morning. I feel like kicking my husband out and telling my MIL where to go at the same time. Husband had a go at me because he thought I had spoken to my parents without telling him.... I hadn't but not sure what it had to do with him regardless. Then just heard my MIL calling herself Mummy to my toddler. 'Come here, let Mummy pick you up'. I'm sure she meant Granny but it's just properly got at me. 😡

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 08/02/2020 12:53

Hey everyone so day 1 update

7 collected
7 mature
5 fertilised normally
1 is a bit slower so they'll re check it tomorrow

Happy with that as last year I had less than 40% fertilisation rate.

🤞🤞 for day 3 update on Monday

Ging78 · 08/02/2020 13:26

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted

Our slow one is now my perfect 18 month old daughter! Fingers crossed for them all!

KE2017 · 09/02/2020 15:49

In 24hrs time I will be sitting in the waiting room for confirmation one way or the other. Part of me is feeling excited the other part of me is thinking maybe the tests I've been doing have all lied to me and it didn't work.
Think part of the reason I'm feeling like this is by this point with my first I had well and truly hit the realms of morning sickness (I had HG and it started before we'd even done the test). Obviously I'm hoping to escape HG this time but other than being emotional I'm not really feeling anything else yet other than the odd cramps.
Apologies for the mini rant and I know it's rather pointless and I know I should just be grateful that I've been lucky enough to get my little boy regardless of what happens tomorrow but I'm just feeling a bit blue in the headspace department. 😕

sometimesalways · 09/02/2020 20:02

@KE2017 good luck tomorrow! It sounds like it will be good news but then again I completely understand your instinct to wait and see as nothing seems to be straightforward with ivf. I really hope you get your good news tomorrow! I don't know how HE works as luckily I never had it, but is it certain to appear in every pregnancy?

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted also good luck for tomorrow, hope you have a great update on the little enbies

Spotting can be a very good sign @Ging78 Smile are you still getting it?
