Hello, starting a new thread for those of us starting a new cycle after the holidays.

My background: one successful round of ivf a few years back resulted in my lovely DS and now trying for a second. We are about to go for round 3, following 1 bfn and 1 mc.

At the moment I am waiting for af to appear. Seem to be about to ovulate according to opk. So guessing should expect af in about 2 weeks time.

Going for natural FET with progesterone support. The question for me is whether to add steroids too. A little scared of long terms risks so we will see...

@Russkispy @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted @Christabelle89
I remember from previous threads you were doing, or thinking of doing another round in Jan?

Everybody welcome to join, wherever you are on your journey. It's a tough business, keeping company helps. Good luck!

@Russkispy
Not great news my end - had scans cycle day 4, 6 and 8 and my estrogen e2 levels haven't risen and my LH levels really low so they've cancelled this month as they think the follicles are not good quality which is why none growing - they think I'll have a really long cycle until my next period and then start again then!

Feeling but down as am really ready to transfer and it could be weeks now to wait 😢

Badgerismyname · 29/02/2020 12:21

Hi ladies, may I join? I had a 5 day fresh transfer today so am now entering the TWW. My clinic has said OTD is 14 March so a full two weeks! I haven’t tested early in the past as I prefer to put my head in the sand and put it off but I’m a different clinic this time and previously my OTD has been 11 days. We’ll see...

Good luck to all, we deserve this!!!

Hufflepuff1 · 29/02/2020 12:38

Sorry it wasn't better news for you @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted take care of yourself and try look it as your body has been through so much, it just needs a little rest before performing again. But I can understand how frustrating it must be and have experienced that myself so just do all the things you enjoy until it's time to focus again.

Welcome @Badgerismyname and good luck 🤞 the 2ww is torture so use this forum for support 💜

Russkispy · 29/02/2020 13:24

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted sorry about the rubbish news. It sucks rest well and look after yourself!
@Badgerismyname welcome to the group and hope tww is kind to you! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Badgerismyname · 29/02/2020 14:01

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted that’s rubbish news, not surprised you’re feeling down. The ongoing waiting is just too much. At least when you’re having treatment you feel like you’ve got some control and are moving forward.

sometimesalways · 29/02/2020 14:21

@Russkispy @Hufflepuff1 you are absolutely right in regards to symptoms. But I am actually finding quite hard this time. I am either very detached and forget about it altogether (I almost picked up DS yesterday and he is V heavy!), or just anxious and symptom spotting like crazy. Argh how do you do it? I was fairly ok on previous tries..

Welcome @Badgerismyname my clinic also recommends 14 days wait before testing but I think it's a little excessive! Most clinics test by 12 days. Not that I am encouraging you to test early. They must have their reason for asking us to wait.

Oh no @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I am so sorry to hear that! How frustrating. I hope it goes by really fast for you x

OP posts:
Badgerismyname · 29/02/2020 14:23

@sometimesalways it seems a bit overkill. I want to wait to test until it’s a categorical result but I’m sure by day 11 it would be. Having said that I couldn’t poss test and then go to work so it’s better I wait til a weekend, or at least Friday as that’s my day off!

Badgerismyname · 29/02/2020 14:25

@sometimesalways sorry, meant to ask. How long are you meant to avoid carrying heavy weight? My clinic said nothing about it and my DS is also very heavy (and likes to be carried everywhere despite being nearly 2 and perfectly capable of walking).

sometimesalways · 29/02/2020 14:43

@Badgerismyname I was advised no heavy lifting (DC, cats, dogs etc) or exercise or spa treatments (not sure why!) for the whole 2ww...

My day 11 will be a Sunday and day 12 a Monday when I will be working from home so I might give it a go and test on one of those.. definitely better if I don't have to jump straight into a work meeting after a negative result!

OP posts:
Badgerismyname · 29/02/2020 15:05

@sometimesalways ah ok, thanks. Well I have no plans for exercise or a spa but the idea of getting away with not lifting DS for 2 weeks is fantasy!

Sunday is a good day to do it, gives you the whole day off to celebrate hopefully (or commiserate). Day 11 is more than 2 weeks after a 5 day transfer so would surely be an accurate result either way.

sometimesalways · 29/02/2020 15:50

@Badgerismyname to be honest not sure how much all that stuff helps or hinders - I still follow recommendations of course, but on the other hand I am sure people exercise and lift their kids and get pregnant all the time!

Hatawa83 · 29/02/2020 17:57

@russkispy I’m soooo bored with it all tbh 😂 I have zero patience and am keeping myself busy spending lots of money we don’t have 🤣 what can I do? Retail therapy is great!

Aw sorry to hear that @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted :( stay strong hun. It can be such a frustrating process!

@badgerismyname welcome!

@sometimesalways I’m exactly the same. I forget all about it for a while but then it hits me again with that mix of hope, anxiety and sheer terror of things going wrong again. Hate this process. Told my hubby earlier it’s borderline mental torture. If this last attempt doesn’t work I’m starting therapy for sure, cause I’m going to bloody need it!!!

Russkispy · 29/02/2020 18:40

@Hatawa83 you do whatever you want to do Grin and hope for the best! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Russkispy · 29/02/2020 18:43

@sometimesalways as it's with all my tww, I was just sailing through and half forget I had a transfer. was only nervous on OTD. Crossing absolutely everything for all of us! Smile

Hatawa83 · 02/03/2020 06:45

Has everyone in here moved over to the Feb/March or tww thread? Can post links for those who haven’t switched yet xx

sometimesalways · 02/03/2020 13:29

Ah have people jumped to the new thread - sorry I missed that one, which one is it @Hatawa83 ?

I'm still here....sticking to the original crowd @sometimesalways Smile

sometimesalways · 02/03/2020 13:35

@Russkispy SmileSmile
I will definitely be around for a while!

OP posts:
Hufflepuff1 · 02/03/2020 13:36

I'm using both! How are you both doing @Russkispy and @sometimesalways

sometimesalways · 02/03/2020 13:51

Not much to report really @Hufflepuff1 no symptoms whatsoever whatever that means and frankly a bit fed up with everything at the moment. Ivf, Coronavirus panic, work stuff - you name it. I think I need a holiday Grin
How are you? Any developments, did you do your bloods?

OP posts:
Hufflepuff1 · 02/03/2020 14:03

Same no symptoms at all @sometimesalways which drives me mad too lol I called my gp and they said I have to make an appointment with the gp first who can then ask for bloods but they don't just do it even though they know I'm having treatment etc I almost thanked her for being so helpful.. Not.

sometimesalways · 02/03/2020 14:31

Ah yes the GPs are veeeery slow with that stuff. When is your OTD? I am sure your clinic will do bloods as per routine since it's positive. Have you tested again?

OP posts:
Hufflepuff1 · 02/03/2020 16:16

Thursday is OTD and they don't do bloods, it's just a test and then they book you in for a scan at 7 weeks 🤞
Yeh I tested again this morning as I had a really busy weekend I was convinced something might happen, it was darker than the previous test but not as dark as the only successful cycle I had (thanks Google photos). I know I shouldn't compare but it helps keep me sane. (sort of!)

sometimesalways · 02/03/2020 17:08

@Hufflepuff1 it's a great sign that it's getting darker! And it's still pretty early too, so I think it all sounds very positive. Could you do a private blood test somewhere maybe if you prefer to have it done faster? I did that with my nhs funded ivf cycle back then and it really reassured me (my clinic also only did urine test at the time and my GP was too slow)

OP posts:
itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 02/03/2020 18:16

I'm still lurking around too! More to see how you are all getting on!

I think I'm weeks away from starting cycle again but I guess it will give me chance to save up the £400 cost of abandoning this cycle 😬
Going to give it a week or two then maybe do daily OPK to see when/if I'm going ovulate - I hate not being able to plan and since my cycles have always been like clockwork no matter whether I've had ectopics or miscarriages I'm not used to being in limbo waiting for my period to come
